Questions & Answers

Is it true that this one kills the eggs and larvae, preventing them from hatching?

I believe it, but only for a short time.

Is this a surface or subcutaneous insecticide? I'm looking for something to put in my vacuum. ?

Surface. However, for your vacuum, I would recommend powder.

Is it safe for a kitten to use this?

Not for kittens under the age of 12 weeks, according to the label on the box. In fact, with Revolution, I'm getting better results.

It's fine; it completed the task at hand
4/5

It won't completely eliminate fleas from your pets, but it will keep them at bay for about a month. Before vacuuming the carpets, place a flea collar in the vacuum bag to kill any fleas that are sucked up. To get rid of fleas completely, follow these steps: Wash pets with original (blue) Dawn dish soap, then apply QUALITY flea medicine (I recommend Advantage II for cats), as well as washing bedding, sweeping, and vacuuming, and so on. Depending on the severity of the infestation, you may need to repeat the process. But, in any case, as long as you don't expect it to get rid of every flea your pet has, this collar will suffice. It's not medicine; it's a collar.

EASY TO USE AND EFFECTIVE
4/5

For as long as we can remember, we've used Hartz or Sargent flea and tick collars. They're easy to understand. Once the snow has melted, put it on. When the snow begins to fall, remove it. We've never had any issues with this product, but the drops that are now available have been extremely harmful to us and our furry friends. I would recommend this product because of its ease of use and comfort, and because my animals have never had any negative reactions to it.

It's possible that I'm abusing it, but after buckling it
3/5

It's possible that I'm misusing it, but after buckling it on the cat, there's a dangling flop to the collar that has nowhere to go. I could cut the flop off, but that would reduce the amount of medication on the flea collar surface area. It was torn off by my cat, but I was able to recover it and reattach it. I wish I could have been there to witness it. After being ripped off, I assumed this item would be broken. I'm just hoping it's working for my outdoor cat in terms of pest control. br>br>Editbr>br>I'm lowering my rating to one star because we had a small flea infestation near a patio door window after a year of using this flea collar and switching it out every five months. Standing close to the glass, you can smell fleas. More importantly, I've recently read a slew of red flags about Hartz products being toxic and containing carcinogens, which has caused me to change my mind. I've developed and exasperated some health issues that weren't a big deal before I got these collars. I'm experiencing rhinitis and allergy symptoms I've never experienced before. This has tetrachlorvinphos in it. Maybe all flea products are poisonous, but that doesn't change the fact that my cat and I haven't gotten any better over the course of a year. I've never had a pet allergy before, and I believe this product is causing my endocrine system to malfunction. br>br>I bought five of these, used three, and am now discarding the others.

This isn't going to be your only option for flea treatment
4/5

Listen, these days you only need to use a few different products. This collar will never be able to keep all fleas out of your house! br>br>When my indoor/outdoor cat developed severe dermatitis as a result of flea allergies, we tried a variety of products to see what we could do. Surprisingly, I believe this collar is effective because after one month of use, we noticed fewer fleas. It's been 3 months since he first got it. We use other flea medication (monthly) as well as the 24 hour oral flea meds on occasion to give his little body a break when the fleas are just too much for him despite other factors. The smell of the collar isn't bad, but it's not pleasant. He was initially irritated, but it has remained on, and I believe it works, as previously stated. There was no sign of skin breakdown on his neck, as some people may experience.

Will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau
3/5

The pesticide is caked along the edges of these collars, which are several years old. This is extremely dangerous for the animal. Furthermore, the collars are wrapped inside out, making application to the cat extremely difficult. I'll file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I'll follow up with Amazon to find out why you're allowed to sell dangerous to pets expired pet products.

It has a pleasant scent and a lovely color, but cats despise collars
4/5

This collar has a beautiful color to it. My cat couldn't care less about the color; she didn't want the dangling thing on her neck. It's taking some time for her to get used to it. It also has a pleasant scent to it that I don't mind.

Not in the least bit shabby
4/5

Ok. In my opinion, none of the flea collars deserve a five star rating, but this one is a strong four. It doesn't completely solve the problem, but it significantly reduces it, and that's something I can live with. My cats aren't bothered by it at all, except that they despise wearing collars in general. To be fair, fleas are as thick as the thieves who live all around me, so I'm happy that it works at all, especially since so many of the collars I've bought for my dogs have either had no effect or made them sick. It's great to have these and not have to worry about my poor kitties getting poisoned the way one of my dogs did with the ultraguard plus for dogs collar.

Fleas didn't seem to like it
3/5

My cat's fleas were simply not killed by it. My cats aren't exposed to many ticks, so I'm not sure how effective it would be against them. I checked my cat's abdomen and near his tail several times over the course of a month and found several fleas on each occasion. It may kill some fleas and/or the fleas that come into closer contact with the collar, but it may not kill all of them. br>br>Before putting the collar on my cat, I read all of the instructions and stretched the collar. I made sure it was snug enough around his neck to make contact with his skin (but not too snug). Thankfully, it didn't seem to bother her. The feature that allows you to break away appears to work. If you prefer that, it also has a pleasant "fresh" scent. Unfortunately, I don't believe the active ingredient (tetrachlorvinphos 14. ) is effective. At least not in this region of the country, 55%) works to kill fleas. This is the last collar I'll ever buy. br>br>On my cats, topical flea treatments (such as Advantage II) appear to be more effective. Adult fleas are killed within 12 hours, and re-infestation is prevented. Flea larvae and eggs are also killed, resulting in a flea infestation. Sadly, ticks are not killed by it.
