Questions & Answers
There is no automatic power off. The pad doesn't get too hot.
The cover is the same size as the heating pad. Our cat appears to enjoy it, and when he sits on it, it warms up slightly more, but it is always slightly warm, which is wonderful.

After 5 months of use, it melted in November 2019 and one side is charred black; all my 12lb 19-year-old cat did was bunch one end against the wall. I'll include a photo. I often lift it to sweep the tiled floor beneath it, which is a good thing. When I did it this time, I noticed I couldn't get it to flatten out again. When I unzipped the cover, I discovered that the plastic pad had melted and was charred black. This could have resulted in serious injury to the cat, as well as the complete destruction of my home.
I was very pleased when I received this heating pad a few days ago. It got a good review from me as well. It barely heats up after a couple of days. Even though the heat was low, it was enough to keep my dog warm. At one end, the heat is now extremely low. I'm not happy with it, and I don't think I'd recommend it to anyone.
So, in October, I purchased this one, which appeared to be in good condition at the time. I've noticed in the last month that she doesn't sleep on it very often or for long periods of time. I put my hand on it out of curiosity and discovered it was extremely warm. It's a lot hotter than it needs to be. Her other heating pad was only warm if you pressed your hand against it for a few seconds. I imagine it's similar to how a pet would feel on your lap. It's never felt so hot as it does right now. br>I'd like to return it, but I don't see a way to do so. In any case, a cat can't stand the heat! This one is a no-no. Now I'm using it as a back heating pad. It's THAT hot out there.
It's a hit with the cat. br>Is there anything else to say?br>br>No, really. I gently unrolled the surprisingly small box I had unpacked. I unrolled the mat, slid it into her favorite chair, plugged it in, and set a timer for 30 minutes (to return). Check the temperature before showing her the new heating system). br>br>When I returned, she was already curled up on it, happy as a clam. br>I apologized for interrupting her nap, double-checked that the mat wasn't too hot (it wasn't, it was just right), and then walked away. br>br>Many thanks for making this winter a little easier for my elderly cat. Having one place where I know she will always be warm calms my nerves (and probably her old bones and muscles).
The fleece cover is very comfortable to wear, and the power cable is well protected. The pad is the perfect size for my cat, but it may be too small for larger cats such as Maine coons or my previous cat (unknown type) who was 2 feet long. My cat used it right away and began purring loudly when I petted her while she was on it, so I think it was a hit! I'm going to try it next in her favorite cat house, but she might never leave.
On a pad we use upstairs and then the new one (which we purchased for downstairs), we used a thermometer between the pad and the carpet. The temperature on the old pad was 105 degrees, while it was 120 degrees on the new one. It is extremely hot. It was given back to us.
I bought these so my cats wouldn't try to suffocate me by sleeping directly on my face or chest at night, and they worked, so I bought two more. One is for the bed, and the other is for the rest of the house. They like to follow me around the house, so I put one in each of the two rooms where I spend the most time. Even after I put them on it, they haven't touched the second one. "Why don't you like the things I buy for you!" I exclaim. "br>br>However, they're fantastic; they're warm enough for the cats to sprawl out on, and they're energy-efficient. " efficient in some ways I would recommend it for either a cat or a dog. br>br>One thing to keep in mind is that they are not hot enough to heat up multiple layers of blankets or a pillow on top without applying some pressure. So, if you're thinking of putting a top layer or a thin blanket under a doggy or cat bed, you'll need to start there.
It's also very comfortable. However, the temperature is excessively hot. My cats are adamant about not laying on it. They also have two other brands that are suitable for different temperatures. They are extremely fond of them.
