I've been using one for a long time and have never had any issues. because it's a long way from the power supply I've protected the power box from the elements, and I've also protected the heater's plug end. br> I've been using this pad for more than a decade. I hope this has been of assistance.
I put a rubber kneeling mat under the heat pad on our dining room table to protect the wood, but I believe it is safe to leave the heat pad alone on a sofa. Just make sure you're not leaving it plugged in all of the time.
China. I was debating whether or not to order it because of this. However, it's difficult to find a product (for pets or humans) that isn't made in another country. It was delivered promptly and is of excellent quality. The cord is wrapped in a coil to keep it from being chewed. It's easy to clean the surface. It's a big hit with my cats!
No, the cover is attached permanently and is nearly watertight. If soiled in any way, wipe it down with a damp cloth.

She adores it and spends most of her time lying on it. The temperature controller (which is connected to the power cable) fell over the side of the bed that is against the wall one night, and the switch was moved to the higher setting. When I felt the mat later that night, I could barely touch it for more than a few seconds. It was extremely hot. You can see what it did to my pillow by looking at the attached image. The pillow was roasted as a result of it. br>br>To tell you the truth, this scares the hell out of me. I don't mind having two temperature options, but one of them shouldn't be so hot that it starts a fire or kills your cat. I can't recommend it because it's so dangerous.
I'm acclimating them to me so that I can capture them and spay them. I decided to put them to the test in my recliner. They are my favorite. I keep one in my bed for nighttime relief from my aching hips. I'll need two, one for my back and the other for my recliner's seat. It's a lot less expensive than purchasing human heating pads. And, unlike the irritating auto shut off that I despise, mine stays on. With the cold nights, you want your animals to be warm all day.
Maybe it's a little cruel. However, he now has a wonderful heated cat bed! I do have a soft towel folded beside his bed for him to lay on if he gets too hot while going back and forth. He's perched high above the dogs, where he can keep an eye on the occasional mouse that darts across the garage floor - ONLY a monitor - He's far too skilled to actually CATCH the objects. He isn't a chewer, but I can see how the wire wrapped cord would keep him from doing so. It's a classy-looking piece of work. It's a large piece of ish-type material that covers the entire cat bed - To give you an idea of the size, this was a dog bed for a small toy poodle. I would have given it all five stars if it had been Sherpa or something else fuzzy. However, because this material is easy to wipe clean, if he gets something nasty on it, it will be much easier to clean than something fuzzy! In my part of Colorado, it's been around 10 degrees at night, so I keep the thing on 24-hour mode. 7 on low. It hasn't sparked, blown any fuses, smoked, or started a raging fire in any way. Every day, I check to see if it's still warm. It's not a hot cord. It would be nice if this had a cool setting for summer because Prince Cat isn't bothered by excessive heat in the summer. However, you won't be able to have everything you want. Great product, great price, and a happy cat (well, as happy as a cat CAN be!).
This bed was purchased for my Boston, who despises cold weather. She sat down as soon as it warmed up and refused to get off! I like that the fabric is smooth and you can't feel the coils, and that the timer doesn't go off like a regular heating pad, allowing her to lay on it all day and stay warm. The design is very attractive, which isn't important to me, but it does ensure that it isn't an eyesore in my home. I've already recommended it to all of my Boston mommy friends!.
However, when I used it for my older kitty with arthritis, I noticed that only the pad gets warm, not the cord or the outlet. br> The cord is protectively wrapped, so my other kitties wouldn't get hurt if they got curious and played with it. I'd strongly suggest it! It's a huge hit with my cats. All six of my cats tried to climb on it, so it was a little bitter. 😂.
To begin with, not only do my dogs enjoy it, but I do as well. I put it in the corner of my bed where my dogs usually sleep, and I often find myself resting my feet on it at night. It's large enough for my legs and a dog to sit on. I can leave it on all night or all day because it bounces from the lowest to the highest temperature setting, so once it reaches a certain temperature, it will turn off to cool down, then turn back on to prevent any accidents, which I appreciate.
These were purchased for my cats who live on the porch. It is still very cold, despite the fact that they are in an insulated building. Have a covered crate with a dog bed in each bed, as well as one of these heaters. It's nice to walk in and see them in bed, comfortable and warm, rather than curled up shivering. They don't consume a lot of power.
This was purchased for my cat's home. I wanted to make sure he didn't get cold during the winter because he lives outside on an enclosed balcony. There are two heat settings on it. On the pad I received, the lower heat setting did not work. He didn't like the higher heat setting because it was too hot, so I had to put the mat under his bed for him to use. The cord was long enough, and it was covered with a protective cover so he couldn't bite or scratch it. Overall, it was an excellent purchase that met my requirements.
