Please note that this item does not include insulation. There is only one size available, as shown. You can bring a warmer blanket into the house on your own.
I painted all of the pieces before putting them together to match the trim and sides of our house. I've had it outside since October of last year. There is no mold, but it is dusty. We live in Northern California, and we've had a lot of rain this year. Snow falls once every ten years or so and lasts only a few hours, while freezing temperatures occur once every other year for a few nights. So far, it's held up admirably in our mild climate, where we irrigate for about half the year. I'll hose it down in about a month to get rid of the snail trails and dust, but there are no issues with the roof or structure. I feed our cat out there; I wish the roof was a little higher, but he is content to eat on the deck level. Because of the snails, I stopped feeding on the lower level when the weather was consistently wet.
Without a cover, it will not last long in the elements, and the paint is sparse. We applied two coats of exterior paint, a condensed foam piece (children's flooring) to the floor (headspace is low, so bulkier insulation couldn't be added), and Reflectix insulation to the lower space's walls and ceiling, all of which were inspired by others' excellent ideas. To keep rain and wind out, we used heavy-duty waterproof tarps (held in place with large beach towel plastic clips). We fortified it as much as possible because it was flimsy for the price (for us).
Unfortunately, we do not have a plastic flap for this product; however, if it is raining heavily outside, you can move the house under the roof.

I was let down. Don't get me wrong, it's adorable, but the cats in the photo are clearly kittens, and it's much smaller than I expected. A normal-sized cat is shown below.
Finishing was a disaster. The painting appears to be shabby. The edges haven't been finished properly. The surface is uneven and has splinters. I'm concerned that it may harm my cat. The packaging also contained dead insects (or insect poo? ), which was not worth the price. br>br>This page was last updated on October 1st: br>Moved from one to two stars. Customer service and the cute design were given an extra star. (Item was replaced and a refund was issued. ) Replacement, on the other hand, is just as bad. As proof, I've added a few more photos. It's not even close to being worth the money.
Outdoor critters such as raccoons, rats, skunks, coyotes, and other critters We wanted to provide a secure sleeping environment for the cat. We were very pleased with the final results, I must say. The house is lovely, and the cat, in particular, has taken to it and is quite fond of it. It was a breeze to put together. Yes, if you pound the wood too hard, it will crack. My advice is to proceed with caution. The wood must be relatively light in weight, or the cost and weight of the house will be excessive. A rubber mallet can be helpful in getting the tight pieces into place. To make the cat more comfortable, we repurposed an older cat bed. If you're worried about your cat fitting in, don't be. Cats can be easily accommodated in almost any space. The "balcony" has so far been her favorite spot. We plan to move the cat and the house inside once she is more tamed; however, spending more than 100 dollars requires a significant commitment. 00 for a pet house you're not certain about. We took a risk and are very pleased with the outcome.
This is an excellent cat house for kittens and small cats. My two females can fit inside the house one at a time, but not my 15-pound boy. Each of them will take a turn on the balcony. They like it because it's shady and high enough to keep their pesky little doggy sisters at bay. It's a charming home that's also fairly simple to construct. While watching television, I completed it in about an hour.
This is the worst I've ever seen.
. This was clearly designed (and the instructions written) by people who don't understand English or American culture. how. Mistakes in instruction that are absurd. br>The structure is shoddy. br> You will require assistance if you lack "tool savvy. "
1. The roof directly above the interior space is susceptible to water infiltration. You'll have to strengthen your defenses. caulking.
2. The screw installation instructions are odd. It's possible that you'll require assistance. br>3 There are no supports for the floor. If you don't supplement with your own material, you'll fall behind.
4. Several of the holes for the "roof" material are positioned incorrectly.
5. There's even more! If you decide to purchase this item, best of luck.
Now it's July 2021, and I'm in the market for a new one. It lasted about a year before signs of wear appeared. My husband noticed that the roof was rotting underneath. The small roof on the first floor is now collapsing. We live in Florida, where the summers are hot and humid and it frequently rains. We sprayed it with sealant as soon as we got it because the paint job wasn't great, but we didn't mind as long as it was weatherproof, as other reviewers had mentioned. I'm sorry to say, but even that didn't make a difference. I guess for $100, my little kitty had a two-story kitty condo for more than a year, and now, like all real estate these days, it's time to upgrade to something better and more durable! I wouldn't recommend it unless you're not going to be outside in the sun or rain.
This adorable, well-built outdoor cat house is one of my favorites. We are currently caring for two abandoned cats. One of them had been in our neighborhood for a while (and another neighbor was assisting him and allowing him to stay in her home). He couldn't come into my house because I have a cat, which causes her to freak out and turn the situation into a fight. I didn't want my cat to get hurt because she was so old). Another cat appeared 6 months ago, who was extremely fearful (almost feral). He wouldn't come near me for another two months; I fed both of them because I didn't want them to go hungry, and I didn't want them to be put to sleep, so I didn't call anyone. He would stay about 15 feet away from the dish and wouldn't go near it until I went inside. He now adores me and insists on being picked up, petted, purred, and so on. He's improving around other people, but he's still a little wary of them; Men in particular. My husband, on the other hand, is now loved by both of them. They're best friends who do everything together. They mostly stay in my yard and follow me around when I go to the neighbors, which is amusing. Gato, my first cat, now refuses to go into my neighbor's house because he won't leave Boots alone (which is a good thing because the neighbor now has two cats, so it could become a problem). They enjoy my patio because it has comfortable furniture and a heavy-duty canopy that protects them from the rain, small snowfalls, and other elements during the winter. I spread blankets on the ground and closed the canopy in part. Well, here in Olympia, Washington, we had an unusual amount of snow at the end of February (it rained/turned to ice early the next morning after a decent amount of snow). To cut a long story short, melting snow and ice combined to break the canopy (bending the metal top and sides). We rigged it so that the broken part would hold up for the rest of the winter and into the spring. I didn't want them to get cold, so I made sure they had a warm place to stay this fall and winter. We removed the canopy, but they are fine on the lawn chairs with their blankets now that the weather is nice. We wanted to get them used to the house before the fall season arrived, so my husband built the cat house about a month ago. It was a breeze to put together, and everything was in good working order. I have never seen anything so adorable. I looked at over 60 cat houses before deciding on this one because it was both affordable and had excellent reviews. This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I was concerned that they would sleep or use the bottom part (since they were more wild cats), but they seem to be fine with the escape hatch (they can get out, but nothing can get inside from the outside escape hatch). They've been using the cat house more and more lately (and I expect them to use it even more once I put their bedding in there and it's fall). After the winter, I'll give you an update on how it fared and how they fared. We're going to spray it with outdoor protection spray to give it an extra layer of protection from the elements (a can costs about $4, and we'll only use about half of it). The stairs are adorable, and they enjoy perching on the very top of the roof to get a better view of the inside. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a place to keep their outdoor cat. (Please accept my apologies for the length of this message) Thank you for creating a cute product at a reasonable price (it cost $100 versus over $200 for similar items).
It's a little difficult to put together at first, but the end result is cute. One of my cats immediately climbed in after I finished setting it up. So far, everything appears to be going well! br>br>Recent changes: br>br> It's been over a year since I purchased it, and I'm glad I did. It's ideal, and they enjoy sitting on the covered balcony when it's raining. They can also relax on the roof because it isn't too slanted.
