Questions & Answers
Yes, it will collapse, but neither the cat nor the cube will be harmed because neither of my cats has attempted to climb on top of the cube. This is one of the most thoughtful gifts we could have given them.
I purchased the set. There was a hut as well as a cube in it. It's so adorable.
Doubtful. I've never seen a scratch pad small enough to fit inside one of these.

The box's illustrations depicted a strong, straight, and stable tunnel connecting the house and cube. I was also ecstatic because the tunnel had mesh that my cat could peer through. The tunnel, on the other hand, was a letdown because it lacked the spiral wires that would have kept the material stretched and sturdy. On the ground, the tunnel was simply limp. When I first connected the tunnel, it was just limp, and it would collapse on my cat if she tried to play inside or run through it. I was extremely disappointed. The cube is beautiful, and the house isn't bad either, but the tunnel ruined the product, and it was not as advertised in the photos. My cat was dissatisfied as well, and she prefers to run through her older tunnel, which is more durable and of higher quality.
This item is extremely popular among my cat. She brings her toys inside, where she plays, hunts, pounces, leaps, and turns everything on its head. She adores the inside ribbon ties, and she enjoys peering through the mesh and openings at us. She dashes down the hall and dashes inside, hiding and swiping at our ankles. Right out of the box, she was enamored with it. br>br>The structural wires are plastic-coated to prevent them from poking out. I appreciate the attention to detail, but I still inspect the toy on a daily basis for signs of wear and tear. My cat's well-trimmed claws (not capped or declawed) do not cause snags or runs in the fabric, which makes the fabric tear resistant (not tear proof). br>br>I'm not sure why people expect this to be some kind of industrial-strength heirloom that can be passed down from generation to generation of cat owners in their family. I only had to pay about $12. 00, and I don't think it'll last much longer than that. If I get more than 6 months of semi-regular work, I'll consider it a success. I'll be pleasantly surprised on a daily basis, and I'll consider it well worth the money. br>br>My review is based on the fact that the item is exactly what it claims to be, and the fact that my cat enjoys it is an added bonus. It's August 2020. br>br>Edited to add: It's August 2020. In October 2018, I wrote a review for this toy. It's still going strong, and that cat, as well as the two new cats we've added since then, are enjoying it. We've been going for almost two years and I expected it to take six months. I believe it was an excellent purchase for the price I paid.
I bought this a few months ago for my Japanese bobtail kittens. The tunnel isn't made of a spiral wire to keep it popped up when kittens attack each other, which I noticed right away. My kittens will avoid the tunnel because the wire structural rings simply fold down. Second, my kittens aren't particularly large, weighing in at 7 pounds at nine months, but they are too big to fit through the tunnel. To get through, they have to hunch down, which they despise. One of my kittens landed on the tunnel today while chasing a wand toy, flattening one of the tunnel rings, causing a crease. I made an attempt to straighten out the crease. But it's all for naught. As a result, the tunnel is no longer usable. br>br>However, the Velcro attachment points on the tunnel and the cubes have already begun to pull away from the fabric. My kittens like to play in the teller cubes, and one of them will press against a wall, causing the tent to collapse. The floor isn't doing a great job of keeping it upright. The standalone cube is considered to be the "best" of the three. That's had kittens pounce on it several times and popped right back up, though I don't have high hopes for it lasting with the rest of the wear and tear. This might be a good option if you have smaller kittens who aren't big mousers or birders. This isn't the best option if you have a big cat who likes to pounce, run, and chase toys. This is going to a cat shelter for the rest of its life, as cute as it is.
If you're on the fence about getting something like this for your cat, trust me when I say you won't be disappointed. Cats are naturally drawn to boxes and swishing fabric, which is exactly the point of this product; whether your cat smashes it to bits in rough play or uses it as a cozy snoozing spot in a sunny spot, these things will get plenty of use. The advantages are: br>br> My three rambunctious kittens cling, fling, and do everything else they can to the cubes with their claws. They're tough enough to take a beating. Even with my heaviest cat (15 pounds) wrecking the cube, the metal wires have never bent out of shape or snapped. br> The cubes can be knocked down and collapsed in a variety of ways. One of my kittens' favorite pastimes is to knock them over and sit on them, and it's his mission to do so. They are not, however, dangerous simply because they can be collapsed. There are no sharp edges or other elements that could trap or suffocate a cat. It's all soft, and there's no force or pressure behind the closing, so the cats can play freely. It's likely that you'll have to put it back together. br>br>The fabric can withstand a gentle washing in the washing machine and can withstand most "pet odor cleaners" that you apply to it. This is a benefit over wood or cardboard products, which are much more difficult to clean. Overall, I recommend this product to people who simply want to provide their cats with more enrichment. It's a great way to give them a safe place to run around in, and the best part is the laughter you'll get from watching them do it. br>br>As a side note for those of you with senior cats: These are used by both my senior cats and my kittens. The older cats will sleep in the kittens when they are sleeping. or play a game of smash the cube every now and then. All cats are naturally drawn to boxes, as I previously stated.
