Questions & Answers

Is it possible for the house to collapse if a cat jumps on top of it?

No, I give a lot of credit to this house. The house stood up to a large raccoon jumping on top of it.

Is the other exit in this picture directly behind the cat or at the far end?

Directly behind the cat is the other exit. As a result, the cat can enter one opening and exit the other while running straight ahead.

What is the best way to obtain a replacement cover for this cat house? Other replacement covers are designed for lectro soft heating pads and do not cover the res?

I'm not sure. It can, however, be cleaned.

What is the material used to construct this structure?

This house is made of 600 denier nylon with a vinyl backing, making it waterproof.

Weather-resistant "outdoor" "heated" cat house Neither is it waterproof nor is it warm
3/5

I didn't know how to rate this because I'm neither pleased nor dissatisfied with my purchase; I'm simply disappointed. This will be a lengthy analysis. I got this "outdoor" "heated" cat house for $53 from Amazon a few days ago when it was on sale. It cost $99 before tax, and it arrived in less than two days. It was relatively simple to put together. The walls are attached to each other with velcro, and the roof is attached to the walls with a plastic zipper on each of the thinner sides and velcro strips on the longer sides. Unfortunately, the velcro strips do not completely seal the edges, allowing cold air to enter through the unsealed areas. Although I like the house because of how simple it is to put together and how light it is, it is not for everyone. It does not appear to be insulated, and the heating floor pad barely heats at all, which is important because the cat I bought it for, a rescued stray cat, uses it. When I got it a few days ago, I quickly put it together (it took about 10 minutes) and tested the heating floor pad indoors (inside my heated apartment) by placing a pillow over it for over 20 minutes (as suggested in the instructions sheet), and after that time, I could barely register any warmth with my hand placed on top of the middle of the pad, but I knew it wasn't DOA, so I let the cat use it. He's been using it for two days; the house is in an enclosed, but uninsulated and unheated porch that gets quite cold, similar to a garage, but it stays around 6 to 10 degrees warmer than the outside temperature. It was extremely cold yesterday and today; last night it was in the mid teens, and the current temperature is in the mid 30s, with low 20s forecast for tonight. Every time I checked the pad, I was disappointed by how little warmth it emits when the cat is on it, and how cold it feels when the cat isn't. The temperature inside the house is likely to be similar to that of the porch. br>br>While this winter has been mild for the most part (in NYC), the recent cold spell has made me concerned about the cat's comfort and health. I'm thinking of returning this house and replacing it with a heated cup bed that I can put inside a DIY insulated cat house made out of a cardboard box or a plastic storage container lined with 1" insulation board cut to fit. This house is advertised and sold as an "outdoor" heated cat house, which means it should be weather-resistant at the very least. as well as - The manufacturer is guilty of false or misleading advertising because it claims to be proof, but it isn't. It should be insulated and watertight for a true "outdoor" house. proof. This house is not suitable for use outside where it may become wet due to rain. If left outside in the rain, the interior will become wet as the thin floor fabric absorbs water, soaking the heating floor pad, and the cat/s will refuse to use it, as some customers have reported. It also doesn't keep the house warm or dry when it rains because it isn't insulated, and the heating floor pad only warms one (larger) side and barely registers any warmth in the center when a cat is laying on it. As a result, this uninsulated house is only suitable for use indoors, in a mildly cool or heated room, or in an insulated porch or garage where the temperature is above freezing, and not for use outdoors or in an uninsulated and unheated area, as the warming floor pad is insufficient to keep a cat warm and dry when it rains. br>br>The twenty-first century is one of the most exciting times in human history. Inside (sown-in) is a watt "heating" pad. under a thin layer of sherpa) the majority of the floor pad Like fabric, but it only "warms" on that side and in the middle, implying that it's on the area where the door flaps are, and cold air will enter through the sides of the door flap. The unheated portion of the floor pad extends over the house's smaller side. I rearranged the pad so that the larger portion is on the house's smaller, more enclosed side. The heated floor pad's extension cord can be inserted through a slit in the middle bottom of the front and back sides of the house, allowing you to switch the sides of the pad as desired. It connects to a three-pronged electrical outlet. There is no temperature control and it is a 3-prong outlet. It's nearly impossible to tell whether or not it's on, working, or warming. Get a different brand with a higher wattage if you want a pad that actually warms up or one that has temperature control. Advantages: br>br> br>When on sale, the price is reasonable, with the heated version costing $54 or less and the unheated version costing $52. br>Easy to put together if you follow the included instructions, but it can also be done without it. br>The house is not heavy when assembled, making it easy to transport. br>The house's walls and roof appear to be made of a durable, easy-to-clean polyester-based material. like a material that is slightly water-resistant tenacious br>The cushion on the heating floor pad is about an inch thick and can be turned around. br>It's possible to provide wind protection for 1 to 3 cats. br>br>Consbr>The price is too high (over $54) when it is not on sale. br>The home is uninsulated and unprotected from the elements. /water- proof. br>The walls, roof, and floor are not made of water-resistant materials. proof or water-resistant despite the fact that the walls and roof may be water-resistant tenacious br>The floor is made of a thin polyester-based material. When it rains, for example, a fabric that can absorb water will not keep the inside or the floor pad dry. br>The heating portion of the floor pad does not cover the entire floor of the house, but it can be switched between the two sides. br>There is no removable or washable cover for the heating floor pad. Unplug the device and wipe it down with a damp cloth to clean it. When the heating part of the floor pad is turned on, it barely registers any warmth when the cat is laying on it, and it doesn't register any warmth at all when it's empty. It makes it difficult to keep the house warm. br>Another minor gripe - The wall panels could be smoother and less creased in appearance. (as seen in the photos)br>br>How can it be made better? br>By insulating and waterproofing everything (roof, walls, and floor), you can save money. proof, and replacing the floor pad's heating element with a more powerful and larger one. Then it would be deserving of a five-star rating. br>br>Having said that, I'm still undecided about whether I'll return it or keep it. If I keep it, I'll replace the heating element/pad with a heating cat bed, which will increase the cost of shelter for the stray rescue cat. br>br>I included two photos of my DIY winter feral cat shelter, which I built for outdoor feral cats.

No, I can't fit inside, but it gives me a good night's sleep
5/5

I've had a "single-parent" family for quite some time. For years, the K and H kitty house has been a "wide" K and H kitty house. I purchased two "double-decker" buses this year. For my outdoor cats, I built "wide" houses. br>br>These were simple to fold open and connect the various components. The structure is stiff and well supported, but it is not indestructible. Because it is completely encased in thick canvas, it can also be washed with a hose and sponge. such as substance The fleece-lined jacket The entire floor of the house is covered with a heated floor pad. Because it covers all of the seams around the bottom inside, it serves as both insulation and a heat source, and the walls are held together by good, sturdy Velcro. Two zippers and additional Velcro secure the roof to the walls. It isn't completely waterproof or airtight, but if used in a sheltered area, it should suffice. ideally on a porch or deck - It'll be warm and dry for a long time. br>br>We live in northwestern South Carolina, and up here near the mountains, it can get quite cold. Once or twice a year, we get some snow. My outdoor cats have been kept warm during our winters thanks to the K and H kitty houses, which have remained in good condition. I sleep much better at night knowing that while I'm cozy in my warm bed, Reggie and Zorro are getting the same treatment. br>br>This is a straightforward, non-complicated procedure. Winter survival needs for your outdoor pet can be quickly met with an elaborate, no-construction method. With the second "escape door" in the back wall, it was designed with his comfort in mind as well as his safety. Continue looking if you're in Wisconsin, North Dakota, or Minnesota. This house wasn't built to withstand blizzards, biblical floods, or 3 feet of snow at 30 degrees below zero. However, it works perfectly for the rest of us.

With a little improvisation, this works really well
4/5

I bought this house for a feral cat who refuses to come inside and spends all of his time on my deck. I had to improvise because I didn't have a nearby outlet to plug in the heated version, so I lined the entire house before putting it together. the ground, the sides, and the roof - with the help of reflectix In case of rain, I wrapped the entire house in heavy-gauge plastic wrap and placed it on a small skid, which I then covered with a tarp. I used styrofoam for insulation, reflectix on the bottom piece, and a "mysterious purr pad" inside a polar fleece pillow case for the inside bottom. For added winter insulation, I'm going to wrap it in straw and place it under the skid. My feral cat thinks he's in paradise. He is safe, and he can relax inside while keeping an eye on any approaching "critters. " He appears to be a contented young man. (I have a heated version in front of my house for a feral cat I've been feeding for years. ) When winter arrives, he rarely leaves his house - Again, covered with a tarp because the house isn't waterproof and will get wet inside if it rains heavily. ).

Ferals will love it
5/5

In the winter, the ferals appreciate the comfort of the heating pad. They spend the summer months lounging on the roof;.
