Questions & Answers

How big is the 32" perch's diameter? Thanks! ?

Hi there, the Booda perch (32 inch) has a diameter of about 1 inch. When you remove the caps on the end of the perch to screw it onto the cage, there is an attached 3/4 inch plastic screw piece with a slot that the cage bar goes into, and then you screw on the 1 inch cap over the top of the plastic piece to get a nice tight fit so the perch doesn't slide down cage bars. For the travel cage, I have two 32-inch perches and one 21-inch perch. Because of the wire deep within the rope, the perches bend, allowing you to move it where it needs to go to fit. This item is extremely durable.

Is it common practice to immerse these perches in water to clean them? Is there a better way to go about it? Thanks! ?

Yes, these can be washed. Soak in the sink for a few minutes before rinsing. I wouldn't use soap because birds enjoy chewing on it, and you don't want them to chew on soap. Before placing them in the back of the cage, they must be completely dry so that their feet do not stand on a wet perch. Mine, on the other hand, are never filthy. My parrots enjoy chewing them apart like toys, which I don't mind because it satisfies their shreading/nesting needs and keeps them from plucking their feathers.

Is this something that will work for my massive macaw? Is there anyone who knows how big the biggest rope is?

Large rope measures one inch in diameter. Yes, for a large macaw, it will work. At the house where I got my African Grey, there were three macaws who used these perches, but some of them were pulling on the strands, so they had a toy and a perch in one.

I'm curious as to how long this perch has been in place. ?

I went with the medium rope, which is 32 inches long. There are, however, various sizes and lengths from which to choose. My African congo grey has a strong attachment to his rope. I bought three of them and plan to buy more. I hope this has been of assistance. Congratulations and best wishes

The 21-inch JW pet version is not the same as the 21-inch JW pet version
3/5

The pet version of the Aspen tree is a one-inch tall Aspen tree. I had previously purchased the 21" version of this product (made by Aspen pet) and was very pleased with it. Unfortunately, the 32" version that arrived was not as appealing because it was branded differently (JW pet). The central support wire was significantly less stiff. Half as stiff, perhaps. ("Measured" by bending an 8" section of each by hand. ) It won't hold a bend very well, and attempting to keep it from sagging over a 30" span resulted in less-than-satisfactory results.

Freddie Is a Big Fan of His New Long Soft Perch! This perch is a lot of fun for me! I was concerned that it would be too large to fit into the cage of my parrot
5/5

his hotel room on the road. I've coiled it because it's very versatile. I looped it over and over again in various configurations. This perch is a big hit with Freddie, my Conure. I'll also include a photo of Freddie's travel sleeping condo, which has a very long perch screwed into it. I just finished constructing a massive and impressive arch. My crazed bird adores the way his claws cling to everything. A happy bird is one that feels safe.

A Piece Is Missing I didn't notice at first, but after cutting the zip ties and discarding the paper, I noticed that one of the end screws used to secure the rope to the cage was missing

"No problem," I reasoned, "things like this happen all the time," so I looked up an email address to write to about my problem on January 1st, and I received the following message: "Work Order number 85226 was assigned to your Work Order. " Please respond to this e-mail if you have any additional information or would like to check the status. mail. " So I think to myself, "Okay, cool, I'll get a response in a day or two and we'll figure it out. " 'Wrong, so I respond to the email with "Status update please," as instructed in the email. ", and it's the 8th of January. I get the same email in a matter of seconds, but this time it has a different Work Order number. 'OK, maybe something will happen after this,' I think. Wrong again. So I reply to the new email with just "status" today, January 10th, and I get yet another automated email with a new Work Order number. I haven't heard anything from the seller in about ten days, and I don't expect to hear from him anytime soon.

Okay, this perch completely transformed my relationship with my bird
4/5

Conner the Conure (a green cheek conure with the pineapple mutation) was a sweet bird when we first got him, but he was also a little nippy and self-reliant. He enjoyed tickling his head and neck, but once he'd had his fill, he'd bite without warning. He wasn't a cuddler in any way, shape, or form. This was difficult for me because all of the birds I've had as a child were very cuddly and sweet. In fact, all of the birds I've ever known are cuddly sweet like that, at least some of the time. br>br>I loved Conner (my conure), and he was fun and full of personality, but he wasn't particularly 'friendly'. He wouldn't sit on my (or anyone else's) shoulder for long periods of time, wouldn't let us tickle his neck for long periods of time, nothing. He would show affection for short periods of time before biting and fleeing back to his cage. Then I went out and bought him this perch. I work from home and usually sit in my recliner when I'm working, so I'd let him out and work while he hung over my shoulder. I work from home and usually sit in my recliner when I'm working, and now, with his cage beside me, I'd let him out and work. During the entire time I was working, this rope perch was right over my shoulder. I'd just ignore him, and he'd eventually come down and walk out onto the perch, where he'd sit on my shoulder. "How's it going?" he asks. " I'd approach him, and we'd talk. He enjoyed looking at my computer screen (especially when I was playing Candy Crush, which had a lot of bright colors). But, you know, I was usually at work! )br>br>And in just a few weeks, he went from being a wary independent bird who didn't interact much with us to a bird who flew right to his rope perch the moment I let him out. So, when he was on the perch, I started rubbing his neck and scratching his pinfeathers, and he would come over and sit as close to me as he could. In a few weeks, he'll be leaning against my head when he's tired, and he'll be sleeping on me like that. br>br>Today, he sleeps in my hand, cuddles with me constantly, and comes and lays in my hand when I place it on the perch next to him. He gives kisses and requests tickling. On the back of his neck, he feels a tingling sensation. For months and months, he hasn't bitten anyone. Using this perch to allow him to be close to me without feeling trapped by me allowed him to become accustomed to being around me, and we gradually learned how to interact with one another. I can now hold him upside down in my hand, cuddle with him on my chest or under my hair, and do anything else I want with him. He's the sweetest, funniest bird. br>br>His rope perch is still on his cage, and he sits on it next to me all day while I'm at work. I intend to purchase a few more of these so that I can add some perches to the bathroom. I'm curious to see if he can adjust to showering with me. I've heard birds do that on occasion because it's like they're taking a bath in the rain. We'll have to wait and see if it works out. I also find that his little feet prefer the softer surface of the rope perch as a change from his talons on occasion. br>br>The rope is stiff, but wiggly enough to position as desired. It has stood the test of time. I do have to flip it over now and then because it starts to droop downward near the connectors, but flipping it over fixes it right up until it starts to droop again, at which point I flip it again. I like that I can grab it and bend it up and down to help him reach things, as well as pull it closer to me or push it back toward the cage. If I need to, I can easily remove it and reposition it elsewhere on the cage. br>br>This is a good, high-quality product that is both safe for birds and compatible with the cage. Note: The suction cups for use on walls, glass/windows/mirrors are not included in this kit. This comes with a plastic screw-on connector that's designed to connect cages together. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I bought the large version for my G2, and he really likes it. In the same way, I make use of it. The only difference is that the G2 is chewing up the rope part and it's all frayed where he's done it, but he hasn't even come close to chewing through it yet. There are only a few frays, which aren't harmful.

There are no regrets on my part
5/5

My cockatiels adore the 32-inch perch that I bought for them. It's become their go-to sleeping spot. I like that I can alter the perch's shape if I need to. Even though they have chewed on the perch a few times, I haven't had any problems with their feet getting snagged in it yet, but I do keep a few chew toys on hand just in case. I'll probably buy another comfortable perch for them to use when they're not in the cage.

For rats, this method works well
4/5

One of the caps was missing when I received my order. I sent an email to the company through their website, and they promptly responded with a replacement. As a result, I deducted one star for their lack of quality control. br>br>The rope is fantastic; I got a medium 32" for my rats. This rops is super stiff, so I'm glad I didn't get the bigger one. It bends, and if you hold it in a particular shape for a short period of time, it will keep that shape. It was quickly adopted by the rats, who used it to travel from one side of the cage to the other on a regular basis.

DOVE OWNERS, I own a dove
3/5

These are great for doves, and because they don't have to chew on surfaces, they're a safe perch for them. I packed my boys' original perch by accident when we moved. br>br>The product shown is the one I received, but it is ROCK HARD. It's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy He didn't like it and spent the majority of the time perched on his water bowl; he tried it for about an hour or so before saying, "nah, I'd rather poop in my water. " "br>br>I'm either going to have to find his perch or remember where I got the other one. br>br>Normally, I enjoy JW products, but he didn't seem to enjoy this one.
