Mine isn't even close to being shiny. It's made of natural wood and contains some wood fiber.
There is nothing gleaming about this. Wood is just that.

Water beads up on it because there are runs of sealant down the side. I returned it because I am not willing to risk the life of my bird!! br>I received the perches today, and while I like the size and shape, they appear to be coated in a shiny material. Polyurethane appears to be what it is. It's unclear whether using it is safe for the birds. I'm not going to use them just to be safe; I'd be devastated if one of my birds died because of some cheap perches!.
They're a little big for a budgie or parrotlet, but that's okay because different perch widths are better for your bird's feet! br>br>The little balls that came with them appear to be a hit with my babies as well. They enjoy tossing them on the floor and demanding that I "fetch" them. br>br>Overall, this purchase has exceeded my expectations! These are fantastic!.
It's unclear what caused the perch to split. Because the split is straight, it appears to be a cut. After that, it appears as if a crack has developed. I was disappointed because the other perch is fantastic and my cockatiels absolutely adore it. For fear of injuring my birds' feet, I am unable to use the damaged perch.
The perches are fantastic. The wood appears to be of good quality, and I appreciate the bends. The inclusion of the small balls is a nice touch. My budgies don't seem to enjoy them as much as I do, but I believe it's because they prefer hanging toys. These same balls have been used in other toys, and they are very popular.
The birds enjoy scratching and biting at the uneven surfaces, which are far superior to dowels. In comparison to dowel perches, they have a far more natural appearance.
It was well worth the money. The unit is simple to put together. Use caution when using perch sticks made of natural wood. When handling it, be sure to put on gloves. There's a chance you'll get a splinter while screwing on or tightening the bolt. Otherwise, it's a fantastic product; the budgies adore it and are currently sleeping in it.
These perches are extremely popular with my birds, and they offer a wide range of sizes and textures. My only complaint is that when I clean them, they become sticky and take a long time to dry matte. Aside from that, it's an incredible product!.
It's simple to use and maintain. It was purchased in order to change the sizes of my jenday conures' feet. I spray it with the miracle bird cage spray, and the poop comes off very easily. If this one wears out, I'll buy another. But it's been holding up well so far!.
