The Toro 1800 Power Curve 15 amp is what I got. You can count on her to do a good job! It was December 3, 2014 when I bought her. Although there was a plastic auger on models 38381, 38382, and 38381. Initially, it worked like a charm until someone (e. extension cord. Haha, it's a good thing nobody was injured. *br>Ya, but heck, those plastic auger blades are damaged and have broken in half. You may not know this, but I'm in Minnesota now. Your Polar Vortex is bringing warmer temperatures than average this year, so you better be prepared. A 50F temperature. This is UFF-. I was in for a cold one with her, DA! A completely plastic auger shouldn't be a surprise, but don't be so surprised that it breaks. Honestly, I don't think it's justified to place all the blame on Toro. One of the best companies in the world is Toro. I'm sure you know that they're from Minnesota. Y'know, there is Climate Change at work there, which led to that Polar Vortex. Yet, if Climate Change is here to stay, maybe Toro should beef up the auger on that turbine? If you know of any - I'm excited. Plugging in my car is the only way it will start. I won't be able to start my The block heater is what we call it in Minnesota. January 2013 is when we bought it. Since then, it has been mostly mild winters, which meant it has not been heavily used. It has been snowing a lot this year. The smoke came from the machine when my husband was using it a few weeks ago. It made a strange noise like something crunched inside, it smelled, and then it even started smoking. Having turned it off and set it in a hill of snow to cool down, he took it back outside. My husband was talking to the neighbor outside and they looked over to see 5 ft flames in our yard, and the snow blower was well away from the house or anything else that could catch on fire. I have attached photos to what remains of the That product is not a good choice for me.
The reason I purchased this snow blower was because I wanted a machine that had the benefit of being easy to store, would require virtually no maintenance and would not require gas. I used this machine for a couple of years, blowing up to a foot at a time without any trouble. Over the summer months, I just put it on a shelf in the garage and forgot about it until I needed it a year later. We conducted this review in response to an event that My driveway was buried under 4 feet of snow while I was away from the house. Plow companies refused to even make a try to remove that much snow when I contacted them. After all, my Toro needed to do some In the accompanying image, you can see what I was able to accomplish alone in about an hour with my electric snow blower. Although I have used a unusual way to use it, I will admit to doing so. I was able to pick it up, throw it on top of the snow, and pick it up again the next day. Afterwards, I would drag it back and forth so it would eject 12 Using this machine in this way, it was easy on my back and allowed me to move 24 inches of snow at once. The machine is so light that it made this possible. Using the most sophisticated snow removal equipment available, I was able to accomplish in one hour what no one else in the region would even attempt. My experience of using this little guy is so impressive that I felt compelled to share my observations. I have never written a review for any other product but I was so delighted with its performance that I just had to.
The summary is The review of this product is based on my own experience with it since I have owned it for just over five years. I have used it in much heavier conditions than it is rated for. The bottom line is that I would not recommend this machine unless you are absolutely sure that there will only be light snow conditions, or you have another, stronger, machine for heavier conditions. While I would have preferred to spend a few hundred more on a more powerful, durable snow blowing machine, the Toro excels in excellent snow conditions and you can throw snow 20+ feet away, which was perfect for my old house with a 40 foot long and 10 foot In the face of more heavy snow, the Toro still holds up well and has carried me through snow storms that were more than Despite the fact that the machine is lightweight and nearly entirely plastic, it will wear out quickly if you push it around. As mentioned earlier, I fully acknowledge that it's rated for light duty, but I have used it several times to clear heavy snow. As a result, I cannot fault how well it performs under heavy use. As I realize, this was not the perfect machine for my needs, so I would like anyone reading this to bear this in mind when making a purchasing decision. As a side note, I also wanted to show you the wear that I was talking about and a little repair and modification that I've done that should see me through another snow season or two. My only wish would have been that the metal screw sockets and machine screws had been part of the original design, so the machine would have been Seeing in the first picture, you can see that the screw they use has threads that fit into plastic. The mounting of the main gear that turns the blades is held in place by three of those screws. The screws have come out of the plastic, as you can see. My second take came from drilling out the plastic sockets and epoxying in screw sockets that I epoxied into the holes that As you can see on the third picture, the pulley wheel is mounted again, and the crack on the wheel has been patched.
In general, I am generally happy with my machine since I got it in 2011. It is a paved and rather small driveway (can fit about four cars) and it takes me about 45 minutes to plow it with this machine. The time varies with the depth of snow, but I have used it during some pretty deep snowstorms in New England. A few simple adjustments can also be made to direct the snow stream output's direction and distance. What I like about it is how electric it is. As an owner of a gas one for years, I appreciate how much quieter and less maintenance it requires. As soon as I received it, I purchased it as follows In a nutshell,.
