Questions & Answers

What is the cord length on this product, and do you have to purchase one separately?

I purchased a cord for it, which is 14 gauge, 15 amp, and 50 feet. Since it does not come with a cord, I had to buy one. The motor on the machine is a 13 amp. The motor is a 5 amp one, so you shouldn't use anything less than a 14 gauge, 50 or 100 foot cord to get the full power from it.

As someone who lives in a townhouse, I have a limited amount of yard space that I can throw What can be done to adjust the distance of the snow being ?

You can adjust the chute so you can throw the snow ahead of you or to either side of you. It rotates 180 degrees. There are approximately six inches of snow thrown by the system The chute opening is 8 feet from the edge of the slope.

Do I need to use it on the parts of my driveway that have gravel / stone?

A large amount of stones and gravel is likely to be thrown out at a tremendous Such a surface should not be used with this product.

In my mind, it's hard to imagine a snow blower that isn't self-propelled. What would you do? Would you push it?

Since it has wheels, you do not have to push the snow since it is being crushed you only have to push the machine. Because the snow is being crushed, it becomes something you do not have to push. This works really well for me, I am 77 and I am able to do It works just fine with 7 or 8 inches of normal snow, not with 2 feet of snow.

This little machine is very tough
4/5

Before I get into the review, let me provide a little background. It has been many years since I shoveled by hand, and I just widened my driveway. It is more work than ever to shovel the old one car driveway now that it has been divided into two sections. The search for a snow blower had begun. When my wife and I looked into full-sized machines, we decided to check out a neighbor's model. In spite of self drive, she found a full size two stage machine to be too heavy to operate when I was not with her. The neighbor next door had a smaller two stage that was incapable of handling heavy snow in New England. The Winter Joe was a smaller machine that I bought as a winter cover as the larger one was overkill for smaller storms. This way I had a large machine for large work and a small one for smaller storms, where the larger one was overkill for smaller work. Ultimately, I chose not to purchase the larger snow blower, and we relied solely on the Joe for the winter. I'd like to introduce you to My jaw dropped when I saw it. It is not a machine that can take on anything you can throw at it but for a $150 electric snow blower, what can you expect? Because of its exceptional performance, the machine almost got the job done as well as my neighbor's entry-level gas two-stage New England experienced its share of storms this past week, according to the news. There were several of them that were 6 to 12 inches in diameter or larger. Any object under 6 inches was no match for Joe. rainstorm of 10 inches made for a slow clean up, but it was a lot easier than shovelling snow. It was hard to get through plow wakes at the end of the driveway due to the plow. (the gas two stage also had problems. ) Pros I am - This tool is easy to use and lightweight. I am - Designed to speed up storm clearing much more quickly than a gas blower. It took less than 30 minutes for me to clear 1200 square feet. I am - to pull off more snow than I had You can easily translate 6 into English. When the weather is not too heavy and wet, you can use up to 10. I am - You can clear deep snow in two passes with this machine because it's light. I am - Having a lot of power for little money Cons I am - It's a pain to be tethered to a power cord. I am - Whenever deep or heavy storms are forecast, Snow Joe will have limitations. I am - When the conditions are perfect, 20' is the throwing distance. The amount of snow that falls during heavy snowfall is much lower. This is a really neat little machine if you have a clear idea of what you want. This snow blower isn't going to do the job of a 265 cc two stage gas snow blower, but if you're willing to go outside once or twice after a storm or live in an area with lighter snow, this is perfect.

Updated I'm still going strong, Joe. Let's see what this year will bring. There is a huge storm coming to the NE. Joe seems to be doing fine despite the 16+ inches of snow. I have been out twice to take care of it. There is a video on my YouTube channel that you can watch. Despite its opening, Joe has taken on snow higher than it began with. Although it may require 2 passes, shoveling is still much easier than this. It will be nice to have a full size snow blower some day since I do have a full size driveway, but Joe seems to be doing well for just about everything that I use it for. Although this system is not perfect, I do need to make multiple passes through it, Joe will sometimes get blocked up and need cleaning, and it occasionally stalls. So, for that reason, I am giving it 5 stars to be fair, because you shouldn't expect too much with a cheap electric single-charger How many stages are there in a Compared to what it ought to do, it does well.

Updated Last winter was crazy in New England with 9+ feet of snow. If you watched the news, it was crazy in New England last winter. While Joe sometimes took a beating from removing 6 to 10 inches of snow, frequent trips out to the cold weather clearing worked. It would be impossible for him to cope with such a lot It was snowing hard and Joe had to take on ice chips, clear plow wakes, hit gravel and jump through deep, wet An impeller was clogged up with a rock, and that wasn't good. According to our check of the machine for winter, we need a new impeller (as it wears out over the winter) and one of the metal skid plates tore off when the machine hit a It cost me about $50 to replace the belt as well. There are no words to describe how badly we treated that little machine. They have been used in the manner it was intended for 10 years. In order to emphasize my point, I have uploaded more photos. Those banks did manage to get over them. At the end, it was having trouble.

We have a great selection of snow at a reasonable price A reliable blower that does the job
5/5

The 18" Sno-Joe is lightweight and easy to maneuver and very easy to assemble. It is a snap to assemble. My mother got this for her 86-year-old grandfather Their father is 75 years old and his son is 65 years old In 1999, he married a younger woman). The gas snow blower was not an option for Dad, and I didn't want him to force snow on the ground in such an old It is appropriate to state that anyone can push something like this snowblower if they can push something like this. In light of that, I set up agreements with a few families in their area. If there is a lot of heavy, wet snow, those families can come borrow dad's Sno Joe to sweep his driveway and side walk and then borrow it to )

Simply assemble the chute handle and the extension lever that allows you to move the chute's direction out of the box. We are ready to go with everything else. Because of its light weight and ease of pushing, this unit is easy to roll along. It doesn't matter how much snow we get -- four or five inches doesn't matter. Many stories have been published about people using undersized power supplies on their machines causing them to burn out An extension cord should be rated. You can find these cords in the summer on Amazon at a reasonable price. Wait until winter and they will become unreasonably expensive, and you would be better off going to Lowe's or Home Depot instead. The unit is fairly quiet, so please take note of this fact. In terms of effectiveness, it doesn't even compare to a hair dryer. This is something that can easily be discussed. Storm throws snow up to 15 feet If it's medium-sized, it'll be no problem to reach 20' There is weight to the I'd cut it a little short if it's wet, and I'd let it go It is a very reasonable blower for the price. If you need a lightweight blower that you can hang on the wall during the day, this is perfect. This blower is easier on the budget and works well throughout the year.

It doesn't make me happy in the least
3/5

I have only used this snowblower four or five times since I bought it nine years ago. It didn't work for me last week so I gave it a second try and decided to stop using it. The snow has to be dry and fluffy for this snowblower to work. It works best with light snow, no more than 5 inches. Use the snow only if it is no more than two feet deep and no heavier. In the past week, we have had eight inches of Due to the fact that the blower doesn't self-clean The snow only throws 3 to 5 feet away when it is propellant-driven, so I have to dig very hard to dig into the snow. The blower then got stuck on the wall. After pulling it backwards and pushing it forward again, I had to push very hard to push it forward As a result of my exhaustion and frustration, I instead used my shovel and finished the task as quickly as I could. In the short term, a snowblower is not necessary if you have thin and light snow. With a shovel, the job will be done quickly and A blower like this will not work if there is heavy or deep snow. The claim that this floor can withstand ten inches of snow is false. You would be surprised to learn that it doesn't.

Don't use the Gates 3L240 belt before getting the Gates 3L240 belt
4/5

One reviewer wrote that you WILL need a Gate 3L240 belt. Replacing it is easy. I got it and I did have to buy a Gate 3L240 belt. A razor was used to trim some plastic away from the drive belt so it could pass over the steel drive pulley. I also had to take off the plastic blade pulley in order to put There's a little bit of tightness. It's in the groove and the tensioner holds tension on the belt, but I am convinced the belt that came with it is too long and the tensioner is set too high and therefore no tension is produced, causing the belt to slip and burn the belt or the plastic pulley. This is what I saw when the side cover was removed. It would be best if this issue was addressed by Snow Joe, which I am sure has already been addressed. I did not wish to risk it, so I purchased the belt and installed it, and it was fine. This is a design flaw and should be addressed by Snow Joe. To make it easier for myself, I am going to step it up to a half inch longer and get the Gates 3L245 instead of the 240. As the belt is used more, it will stretch a little and there's plenty of travel in the tensioner to keep it The front wheel will do the job, just don't push the snow too hard. I don't think it's going to work on ice. But it does work well on fresh powdered snow.
