As has been already pointed out by many of the others that comment about this control panel, over time, the plastic on the front gives out and cracks due to exposure to the elements and the LCD becomes unreadable as a result. It is obvious that the pool/spa heater itself is quite old, but it is still operating like a champ. If this control panel had been designed better to be exposed to the outdoors, it would have been more useful. Despite the fact that this new panel looks the same as the old one, it appears that the plastic laminate covering the buttons and LCD has not been improved. As a result, I may apply some waterproof silicone sealant around the edge of the panel and fashion a cover around it to protect it from rain and moisture. Even after one rainfall, it seemed likely that moisture could affect.
During the summer of 2018, there was a lighting strike near the heater that caused the heater to go out The control board and lighting transformer are both low voltage. It was not possible to repair either electronic item. We identified the heater control assembly after reading the troubleshooting guide for the Jandy Lite 2. It had been determined that the power board of the Lite 2 was functional. There is no attempt in the trouble shooting guide to diagnose the control board. Based on a dozen voltage checks on the power board, it is concluded that the controller needs to be replaced. You should try replacing the power board at this point since the fuse on the board was blown somehow during the process. When the controller was installed, the motherboard showed 'D'. I am completely lost. Having an old control panel faded was a problem for me. There were parts of the display I wasn't able to see. Nevertheless, the heater would still fire. I installed the new panel, and the new one appears to be identical to the old It worked right away, I clicked on Pool on the display and the heater fired up. My heater began producing FL3 and FL4 codes a few days later when I tried to turn it on. My mind was completely boggled. As soon as the old heat panel was put back in place, the heater came on. The one I received will be returned and a replacement will be sent. I'm sort of upset because I don't have a working replacement yet. I hate it!.
There are a lot of problems with these, especially that the LCD screens tend to fade/die and the plastic tends to crack when exposed to sunlight and ultraviolet rays.
