That is not the case. My husband slapped a sticker on it.
This is a fantastic pump. , which was more than I expectedbr>I'd buy it again
I don't use a sand filter in my system. I simply cleaned the pump's filter basket. No mention of a sand filter is made in the instructions.
Mine is plugged into a heavy-duty outdoor extension cord.

My above-ground pool is made by Intex. This was purchased to replace the low-quality pump that came with the pool. I was able to put this together in about 5 minutes with only $6 in fittings and hose clamps. My filter was the only "issue" I had. It only has a leaf basket and does not collect small items. I fixed it by putting my old pump/filter combo on the exhaust side, but I didn't plug it in. My pool stays sparkling clean thanks to this system.
The motor has stopped working! Purchase is not recommended. It worked fine for four months while being stored inside for the winter, but when I tried to use it this season, the motor became stuck. It was a waste of money. The company's response was a six-month warranty and a complete disregard for my concerns. Poor quality product that lasts only a few months.
It does, however, pump water. it has 2. The pool has 2 inch fittings while the fittings on the pool are 5 inches. To make it work, I had to immediately purchase a couple of expensive reducers. Because the Intex pool fittings did not have a taper, I had to purchase a few more difficult-to-find fittings in order for the reducers to work. After that, I needed to get a timer because the motor has no timer or switch, only a plug in. Because it has a terminal for a ground wire rather than a ground fault interruptor, I had to install a ground rod due to the wet environment and frequent lightning strikes. It works fine, but I had to invest around $100 in it after I purchased it to get it to work.
Is this the right way to go about it? Another reviewer mentioned that he connected it to his cheap pump to filer out the small particles. This way, it just seems to be louder. I'm not sure, but I think I'll need smaller hoses. The pump started working perfectly after I realized I wasn't tightening the strainer cap enough. I'd like to use it with the filter pump, but not if it makes the noise worse. I think I like this pump, but I've only had it for a few hours, so I'll have to wait and see.
The pump arrived on time, but it did not perform as well as the pump it was replacing, despite the fact that the stats were identical. After two months, the pump stopped working.
This pump was supposed to take the place of a much older and broken one. The pump operated quietly on a timed circuit and was simple to install. The pump motor finally seized after five months and two weeks. When you reach into the strainer basket area, you can feel that the impeller is stuck. I can't recommend a pump that isn't going to last the entire summer. Because there is no option to Contact Seller, I'm hoping the seller will contact me.
Pump was installed on 4/6 and worked flawlessly until 6/20, when it began making a very loud grinding noise. I kept the filter basket clean, but it simply wouldn't last.
Installing it was a breeze. The only complaint is that the clean out lid must be put on one way or you'll bust your knuckles trying to get it on the other way.
