Questions & Answers

I have a 10 on my report card. I have a pool that holds a thousand gallons. Which pump and filter would you recommend for Thanks so much?

This pump works fantastic on my 38,500 gallon pool which I own the older version of. My other pool has a very similar pump on it, but it's not variable speed. This might be overkill, but my other pool has a similar pump too. Using this pump, I was able to reduce my electric bill by $100 per month.

Does pentair intelliflo 011028 have a valve that can be used with it?

I would use the Jandy 2 to reduce the flow rate but only to a reasonable level Vessels with a 2 1/2" diameter

My Great White pool cleaner is operated by a variable speed pump, will it still run at this speed?

You determine the speed and flow with pump settings, while the pressure and flow are determined by the speed you set.

'Pentair Disaster' - worst warranty and service in the industry
3/5

If you may A week after I installed my new intelligent flow pump, it began making a high pitch whine. Over time, the noise got worse and worse until my neighbor complained that he couldn't sleep during the The distance between the two of them is at least 60 yards. During the first three weeks after installation, I contacted Pentair multiple times via their customer support page. The reply did not come. The issue was finally resolved about five weeks after installation after posting the YouTube video above on youtube and they contacted me within ten minutes to open a case on my behalf. br />Now we get to the bad part. Due to the fact that I bought the pump on Amazon and installed it myself, Pentair is only providing a 60 day parts warranty. In this case, two pipe connections and three wires are in use. A Pentair engineer comes to my home and tells me that the problem might be with a part. Pentair wants me to pay a $200 service visit fee and receive an engineer report about what caused the malfunction. The worst customer support I have ever experienced is something I want you to know. The company does not stand behind its The public is not something they want to deal with. Their plan is not to replace my pump or work with me to come up with In spite of being shamed on YouTube, they only reached out in a token way. Please be aware that before you spend that $1200 on a new VS pump, you might be getting a lemon, and Pentair won't be able to provide any support in the case of a lemon. There will never be another penny I spend on a product made by, sold by or affiliated with the Pentair brand. I've read horror stories about them but never thought I would be a victim of one. You should beware!.

By 90%, you can reduce your energy consumption
5/5

All of my pool, spa, and water feature are powered by Hayward Superpump single speed motors that run at three times the speed of sound 24x7 (each pulling 1400 watts). The pool installer had recommended these when putting in my 35,000-gallon pool in 2016. I'm turning a lot of water in my pool and these items help keep it that way. The pool installer was wrong about many things (mainly because I should never have listened to him). He told us he would install chlorine saying that traditional chlorine was better, even though we asked for a saltwater pool. The past summer, I switched over to a saltwater system after spending a fortune on chemicals over the last 3 years. Once they were installed, I never had to do anything about the pool or spa. The number one fix that changed my life was installing these Pentair variable flow pumps. The number two fix was maintaining perfectly balanced water all the time. The saltwater chlorinator can be run at 1250 RPMs with plenty of flow, and at 130 - 150 RPMs with minimal flow My electricity consumption has been reduced by 90% with just 140 watts in my home, saving me $500 a month. I replaced the standard sand with glass media for fix #3. The water has crystal clear clarity, the pressure has been reduced, the flow has improved, and the dirt dispersion has greatly improved. To be honest, it has been almost scary how clear things have been. In other words, I spent a lot of money on upgrades in the summer, but the return on investment will be very short. By switching to electric and balancing chemicals continuously in the long run, we are saving $750 per month in an energy savings. Being one who is planning to retire soon, I am delighted to no longer have to worry about where the money in the budget will come from.

The expectations I had of this brand of pump were high, but they disappointed me
3/5

If you may It was less than a week ago that I bought this pump and it worked just as it should. It wasn't until yesterday that I noticed the pump was leaking from its I have contacted the seller regarding a replacement and hope that they will honor my purchase. I am upset about spending this much money and already seeing problems. Based on how they handle this issue going forward, I would be willing to revise my rating.

This is a very quiet and efficient machine
5/5

It just took me a fraction of a minute to replace my old Starite 2 HP pump with an Intelliflo from Pentair. It's amazing how much it's changed! I am still experimenting with programming, but for now, I have it set to run 13 hours a day on In comparison, the old pump was using almost 2600w while using only 50w, whereas the new pump is only using 50w. It takes 5 hours a day to write. With the current settings of the Pentair, it only costs about $2 to run relative to the old pump and approximately $67 with the old unit. A monthly payment of 34 is reasonable. The calculation is based on 12 cents per kWh. I believe that is close to what we get in South. This state.

I'm impressed with the power of the Intelliflo 3 HP pump from Pentair
5/5

Yesterday was the day I received my Pentair Intelliflo 3 HP pump, but I had to buy some coupler seals first, so I did not install it until today. The second gauge – a vacuum/pressure gauge – was installed on the lower drain plugs so I could calculate the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) in order to determine the flow rate. I was surprised by the difference between THD and RPMs - the installation went much more smoothly than I had anticipated. In this case, it was replacing an old Pentair 2 HP Whisperflo (a real workhorse) and the dimensions of the housing and motor matched perfectly, so it was an easy transition. The fact that I had previously installed couplers on old pumps proved to be It was very convenient to rotate the screen as well. In the beginning there is always a first impression I feel that this pump will save me money in the long run since it is noticeably quieter than my previous pump. At the moment, I am programming 3,000 RPM for four hours a day followed by 1,500 RPM for eight. It appears as though I am pumping about 90 GPM at 3,000 RPM (with Main Drains and Skimmers In and Pool and Spa Rtn Out). . . I've played with a few RPMs and valves. My flow rate increases when I open up the Spa Drain as a third inlet. Even though I have all 2" lines, the original plumbing isn't optimal, and my cartridge filter probably adds a lot to the water consumption, considering I have only 150 square feet. As soon as I've used the pump for awhile, I'll be sure to write an updated review, but so far I'm excited about it!.

Warranty limitations should be taken into account
4/5

I like the pump but dislike the warranty restriction (3 years if it's professionally set up, 3 months if it's not). My Superflo died at 2 years of age, and I received a hard lesson in life (I was aware of the restriction, but older pumps had lasted considerably longer, so I took the risk Due to the extra head in this pump, it works significantly better than a traditional pump An automated cleaning system for floors. Spending money to have a pool professional install it so I can qualify it for 3 years, but I'm not as pleased with the process as I was with my amateur job (I have to redo it) To stop the leaks, they need to do their part).
