Questions & Answers
If your filter balls are in good condition, your pool should filter better than sand. We had to replace ours after one season as they broke down and stopped filtering when the pool was opened Adding new ones back into our pool has resulted in a crystal clear pool.
There is no restriction on the number of pumps you can use, as long as they are not packed inside.
The answer to that is yes, but I recommend contacting filter balls (the seller) because they have phenomenal customer service and can help you figure out how much you need. Compared to heavy sand, we prefer them so much.
Despite our pump requiring 19 pounds of sand and using less than half the bag, I think one bag should be sufficient

The mesh bag with the drawstring contains a minis filter ball and a bag of minis filter balls.
Since a few years ago, we've been using FilterBalls. My husband and I decided to investigate other options when we replaced the unit, and I found There has never been a time when I have looked back. The reason I think they are superior to sand is that they do a good job filtering. They don't require nearly as much backwashing and I recently discovered they don't require nearly as much backwashing. You are much more likely to deal with them easily when they have to be replaced. Several years ago, I decided that ours might need replacing. Having to replace the sand in a filter can be a hassle if you've ever had to do it. Using these, you just drain the water from the tank, scoop them out by hand, and replace them as needed. I think we installed a new batch in 30 minutes or less. As a result, I mixed both. It usually works great when I do this, since it's what I did in my original setup.
Great item, but do not use on single speed 1. This pump has a 5 hp motor. When I heard about these filter balls, I was so excited to try them out in my above-ground There is a 1-inch in front of me A Hayward pump with a horsepower of 1/2. There are many reviews out there that I've read. It has been suggested that variable speed pumps be used with this. But I have read reviews where the pump was used with a single speed. In this case, mini filter balls will not operate properly due to too much pressure. 12 PSI is the pressure at which my pump runs. When filter balls are used, it should be a lot lower. In sand, I had a PSI of about 12 to 15 pounds per square inch. There is a stream arriving in my pool from a hot tub that looks like a hot tub. Filter Ball instructions indicate that they will work with variable speed pumps, but I didn't check. It has been suggested that extra balls need to be put in the skimmer according to online articles. Skimmer baskets with extra filter balls (hanging on pool walls) are available at my pool. My swimming pool had a lot of algae I couldn't see because of these balls. It looks like I have great water. believe if I had a variable speed pump, these filter balls would reduce the PSI to an acceptable range. suggest this product to pool owners, but first read the Filter Balls website, then everybody else's reviews, to get some insight into how these When changing filter tanks, it is important to do thorough research. The reviews are great, but you need to be careful about making quick changes. Due to circumstances beyond my control, today will be my last day in the sand. It is still a good idea for me to clean my skimmer daily of mimi filter balls.
It was extremely fast shipping with my order! I was given a date when I ordered and received it two days ahead of schedule. A brief update There will never be a time when I use A filterballs representative told me it wouldn't hurt to have more of each ball. I ordered another bag and used half of it in a pool measuring 18x9x42 with an Intex filter that holds 50 lbs of sand. I had to turn down the psi of the pump when I first opened our pool (as there was so much room) so that it was clear. Since then, After a few days without running my pump because we had rain and cold days (I do not use anything else except chlorine) it started getting cloudy once again because it did not have chlorine and the pump was not running, but within 10 minutes and by turning the pump back on things cleared Additionally, I have not backwashed my system yet. It is my hope that this will help you decide.
All sorts of problems surrounded this piece of hardware, so I was almost tempted to remove These are then what I found. I will tell you, this has changed my life. It is so easy to use them. This is definitely a product I would buy again and I recommend it to everyone. The last time I used sand was ten years ago.
Like sand, the pressure builds as the media are loaded (for filtering one tenth of an acre of water). You don't see a lot of dirt being released in the back flush like you would with sand. Pack a lunch. It takes longer to backflush and rinse sand than it does with sand to get back to a minimum (clean filter) The filter balls were easy to install (and to replace), and we are very happy with them. As compared to handling 150 pounds of sand, it remains to be seen how long they will be effective (three years is.
It is light and easy to carry. The pool will no longer have sand backwashed into it. I notice that they go a long time between backwashings.
