I believe the filter balls are a replacement for sand only so far as I can tell.
Sand to be mixed with one bag per 50 lb
For the past two years, I have been employed. This filter does a good job of filtering. The backwash, however, is not significant like when sand is used. It's a pair of filter socks you put on the skimmer basket and rinse every day. Sand is not as good as these two together. I recommend using them together instead. At the end of the summer, I also remove the balls, rinse them with the hose, wash them in the washer, and when they are dry, I store them. There were a lot of algae blooms in the bowls before using the filter socks. Originally had to be taken out and cleaned. As soon as I used the filter socks, the problem was resolved, and the pool is in perfect condition now. Furthermore, I was able to reduce the amount of chlorine I required.
In addition to two sand filter bags, I used a bigger one.

This update is I was surprised to read some of the negative reviews about this product and know it is not meant to be the only filter used for keeping a swimming pool clean. Photos of the dirty pools on some reviews are showing up on the internet Hair and other gunk are all over the bottom, as well as floating objects. depict a surface strainer that is totally clogged with debris, grass, hair, and other substances. The water in others is slimy, green, and unclean, suggesting poor to no chemistry. You guys have to keep in mind that whatever filter medium you use, whether sand or these fine filter balls, needs to be in conjunction with chemicals, as well as to keep the water free of debris, bugs, and floaties. We are simply not rational to blame this impressive product for your inability to manage the hygiene of your pool. There's no point in vacuuming a pool if no one wants to. There's nothing fun about my job It was not meant as a pun. Having to deal with hair, leaves, grass, and anything else that ends up in the pool is not nice. Nevertheless, you're going to have to deal with it. It is impossible to expect the filter in your pool to fix this kind of disgusting stench. I'm sending my best wishes to Once in a while shock your pool. Add a skimmer sock and clean the balls a few times and your problem is If you have a nasty pool full of gunk, I would like to warn you If you don't have a vacuum or siphon, you need to find a vacuum or siphon. I am informing the person complaining about the discolored or dark Put your balls in the wash and continue. As mentioned earlier, the balls aren't a sand filter and backwashing won't help them stay clean like it helps sand. Also note that you will no longer need to worry about sand in your pool or the mess involved in Hopefully, everyone will unload by the end of the day. Although I'm not an apologist for the company and I'm sure there are some legitimate negative reviews online, I had to say something when I read people were blaming this product for their blatant disregard for pool hygiene.
Let me proceed with my review. Having these poly pool filter balls was a great experience for me. I have ordered and am using them for the second summer in a row. These cotton balls are about 4x the size of a regular They are not cotton, but they do feel soft to the touch. It's a more dense polyfill material that does well at keeping its shape even after being in use during the summer. This eliminates the mess and strain on the pool filter as they fill the hopper of the pool filter with their product instead of sand. These filters do the same job as sand but with none of the mess. This is how I did it 5 pounds) of these balls in my filter last year instead of a 50lb bag of sand. You may think it's not enough, but my experience proved otherwise. My husband and I pulled the gear out and washed them with light detergent in our laundry machine, inside a mesh unmentionable bag, a little over a month after we had filtered our pool. It's like new again - the size and feel are exactly the same as when I opened the bag for the first time. My final step was to wash and re-wash They have been used a few times without incident throughout the summer. Having bought another bag of them this year for a new start this summer, I'm ready to begin the season. Considering I have a pool I am sure to get a new bag every year as long as I have it. Thank you. I hope this was helpful.
I've read up and the bigger blue ball works in a different way from the white ball, and I believe this is the key to easy, effortless water clarity, very clear. Place the clothes in the washer with good crease cut detergent, nothing with a strong smell of oil, and avoid softeners! You will need to start over if you do without. The process will not have to be repeated if you are using salt water. Once the pool has been filled, attach the pool cleaner, turn on the pump at the high speed, and do not repeat until fall or until pressure builds due to excessive amounts of sun tan oil in the pool. As a result of learning how to make this work against all complaints and failures, I thought there could be something simpler than sand and that absolutely horrible The best way to achieve perfect results is to use a saltwater system and to get rid of all those chemicals you will hardly ever Chemicals and oil will ruin any ball with a working design, no matter how white or blue it is. In addition to synthetic sand, I replace the sand with balls of cotton that are very similar to Tribbles from Star Trek. My character felt like a captain Kirk and it was a lot of fun to put in those things. However, I was amazed to see that after running it overnight, my pool water is silkiest and smoothest I have ever seen it! In the past, I ran my filter three hours a day It looks like a great day at the pool! I will update you if the situation changes, and I definitely recommend this product.
I purchased the bags of sand as I could not get to the pool store and didn't want to pay shipping for a 50lb bag, but they turned out to be a good During the summer, the water in our pool remained crystal clear thanks to these filters. It's even easier to move the filter since the sand isn't weighing it down, and the filter is not as cloudy as it is when it's run through with new sand as well. Buying sand will never be an option for me.
The season they were on did not even last a full month. Our team got a very slight algae problem halfway through the summer (not the fault of the balls, we just did not realize all the chlorine tabs had dissolved) and quickly shocked them to death. Nonetheless, what was left was a fine dust of dead algae settling into every crease of my eyeliner. eight times, trying different variations, but the dead algae was blown back through the filter and into the pool every single time. In the end I switched back to regular pool filter sand (#20 silica), and my pool is now clear and beautiful. I would not recommend sand at all. These pictures are from before and after I switched to it. It was only after they took the rust out of the well water used to initially fill the pool that I can attest that work was done.
