I'm not sure if this will work, but you could try heating it up by dipping one end in very hot water (just off the boil) to see if it will stretch more easily.
It's a cool idea. As the owner of this tubing, I'd say YES, it could most likely be used in this manner. To prevent water from entering your garage, fill it with sand. What I like about this stuff is that it's MUCH thicker than those blue hoses you can buy, and it doesn't CRACK after the first use!
To soften and stretch the end, soak it in hot water for a few minutes.

It appears to be in good shape, but keep in mind that the 1-hour deadline is approaching. A 1-inch hose won't fit over a 1/2" hose. Lowes has an adapter that worked for me with 1/2" sched 40 pvc pipe. I've tried a variety of adapters, but this hose isn't compatible with any of them. It will not fit a 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" hole. It is too large for one and insufficient for the other.
I measured the outlet before ordering, so it should have fit, rather than having this thing that I can't use. I got it on, but not far enough to keep it in place while backwashing. Before you buy, double-check that it will fit.
I was fed up with vinyl hoses that only lasted a season and were prone to splitting and holes. So far, I've only used it once. I was using vinyl backwash hoses, which were much thinner. It was an excellent solution. Be aware that it is thicker, so when rolled up, it is larger and takes up more of my shelf space.
It's a little on the pricey side, but it feels solid! I'm hoping to get a lot of use out of it. I also like the fact that it's black. not a bright blue color!.
Getting on is extremely difficult. Because it's such a tight fit, we had to use channel locks to get it far enough up the pipe to secure the hose clamp.
This is a long and difficult task. One thing to keep in mind is that it does not like to bend very much, so be cautious if you expect to bend it a lot.
EXCELLENT PRODUCT. I was fed up with having to replace thin hoses that would split after only a few uses. This bad boy is built to last, and I'm confident it will.
