They're dead on if you're not colorblind. They perform admirably in comparison to the pool dealer's electronic tests. In my 20 years as a pool owner, these are the best I've found.
Mine has an odd date on it.

The cloroxpool website makes use of information from their Multi-Agent System (MAS). Smart Strips are an excellent option. Five of the same test results as the Poolmaster strips are provided by these. On the other hand, the Multi- The Poolmaster strips do not provide the stabilizer level, whereas the use strips do. This is a critical metric, and I suspect that without it, the website will not function properly. The stabilizer can be tested with strips, but the multitest strips are more practical.

They're a great way to get a quick read on your pool's chemistry, especially if you're lazy like me and don't want to waste time fiddling with water test kits. It's as simple as sticking the strip in the deep end, swirling it around a little, pulling it out, and comparing it to the color chart. br>br>If this quick test reveals a problem, such as low pH, I'll usually use the full water test kit to get a more accurate reading and figure out how to treat the issue. But, for the most part, these strips reaffirm that everything is fine. br>br>The date on the tube is approximately one year after I received them. I purchased a small case of tubes for a good price about 5 years ago and have been using them ever since. I'm down to the final few strips, and I noticed that the old tube's date code is 2013 - a period of four years ago I even compared a five-year-old strip to a five-year-old strip. When you replace an old strip with a new one, the readings are identical. As a result, the "best used by" date should be regarded with caution.
As with some other reviewers, I must admit that I may have been unlucky with this particular package, so I'll just report on what I saw. br>The only thing that appealed to me was the concept of a quick and simple test and reading. br>What I didn't work on is the fact that the results are either incomprehensible or impossible to interpret. br>In particular, I conducted a test that revealed zero FCl and approximately 0. 5 TCl. br>After that, I shocked the pool and tested it again after 5 hours, with the water circulation running the entire time, and the Clorine reading remained the same, which makes no sense because I had shocked the pool to the point of overdosing. br>Also, the Alk and pH readings were both multicolored, with the border of the indicator being a completely different color than the inside. br>TH readings were also multicolored, but they were distributed randomly throughout the area. Will look for another product. br>Even if it was simply defective and some people were fortunate enough to receive a good one, this is not a good sign. I appreciate products that are always functional.
These strips aren't any better or worse than the vast majority of test strips on the market. One major flaw with most of them, including this one, is that the colors that appear on the pH test do not match the colors shown on the package, which range from reddish-brown to blue-green. brown, orange, and reddish-brown As the pH rises, the color changes from orange to deep red. My tests, on the other hand, always come out as various shades of pink. In addition, the strips indicated that my hardness was extremely high, which I found perplexing given that I was not using any calcium hardening chemicals. When I took it to my pool shop, they confirmed that I was severely deficient in calcium hardness. The strips appear to be adequate in terms of alkalinity and chlorine, but that is about it.
After two seconds of submersion, you'll have a precise reading. Is there anything else you could ask for? I've had multiple hot tubs at various houses and have used these for years. These are the ones I keep coming back to because they cover everything you need to know about hot tubs. The most recent batch, on the other hand, is even better. The plastic is less flimsy, and the dye used to read the test appears to be more vibrant. Both are welcome additions, but neither was required. br>br>The reason I keep coming back to these (aside from the fact that they're 6-inch tall) is because they're so easy to make. Because these test strips are so accurate and easy to read, I know exactly what to expect when I take my water sample to the local pool store. As I previously stated, the new dye is an improvement, as they were previously a little difficult to read at times; however, with the new dye, I have had no problems at all, and it does help to think about what hue you are looking for on each extreme before reading the test strip. Then, as you're reading, consider what the color looks like in its natural state, and voila - you've got yourself a color. When comparing two test colors, this is an accurate reading. br>br>Why fix something that isn't broken? I'm not going to change what I'm using because these are ideal for my needs, and I'm glad I found them years ago.
I decided that knowing Total Chlorine and Total Hardness was even better, so I bought the 6-pack. way. The extra tests have allowed me to fine-tune the chemicals in my pool even more effectively. The colors on the four-way test strips, on the other hand, lasted longer while being read. This 6-piece set's colors are bright and vibrant. way strip starts to fade MUCH faster, to the point where I have to grab a piece of paper and a pencil and scribble them down right away! They've faded by the time I return to the house.
The first one I tried seemed to be effective - I assumed it was because of the low chlorine reading. So I shocked the pool with enough chlorine to cover a pool that was 1197 gallons larger than mine, waited a few hours, and then tested it again. The strip hasn't changed in a long time. So I figured, "Oh, maybe that's just a bad strip," and moved on to the next. The situation is identical. br>br>I had a few strips left over from another brand and tried one; the readings were almost perfect for everything - My pool water has been very kind to me. After 5 more Pool Master strips, nothing has changed. The first strip I pulled out was good, but every one after that has been a dud. br>br>I even took a break from writing this review to try and use a few more strips, but the color of the strips remained the same. It's impossible that no change occurred on these strips at any level in my pool. It's a pity because I was hoping the product's reviews were accurate. I didn't have any issues with the pads coming off or missing, as others have reported, so I'll have to look for another brand. br>br>5 stars for ease of use because they were extremely simple to use - They simply do not work.
Many of these strips bleed and don't display "accurate" colors, making it impossible to read them! This one does an excellent job. To be honest, the 6-pack isn't all that impressive. way is closer to a five-star rating. I don't use the "free chlorine" reading (for my inflatable hot tub) because I use bromine instead. However, out of everything I've tried, I believe these strips work the best. I like the Leisure Time brand strips as well, but these strips have more information.
