White Salt Titrators Test Kit - 40 Strips Per Bottle by AquaChek

Questions & Answers

Is the salt-to-water ratio checked as well?

It tells you how much salt is in the water in terms of PPM. You're given a reading, which is converted to PPM. Thank you very much.br>

Is it still necessary to check for normal pool readings, such as pH?

Yes, it only measures the amount of salt in your body.

Is it possible to use these test stris in a spa?

Yes. They can be used in any type of water and in any location. Make sure you're testing for chlorine/bromine, pH, Alk, calcium, and cya with Aquachek "Yellow" or "Red" strips as well.

What is the meaning of the word "white" in the product name? (How come there aren't any color pads available?

I believe the "White" refers to the salt type, which strikes me as odd. In addition, no color pads are included. To test the salt level, I fill a shot glass halfway with water and place a strip in it. After about five minutes, read the graph on the strip and compare it to the numbers on the bottle to determine your salt level. I'm going to buy them again because they're a great product.

Make sure the information is correct a second time
3/5

I bought these strips with an expiration date of barely a year in the future, and they read 600ppm lower than a Taylor K1766 test. I'm not sure how well expired strips will work if they're kept tightly sealed in the bottle and out of direct sunlight. br>br>These are unquestionably quick and simple to comprehend - You're done after 3 minutes of waiting. The Taylor K-, on the other hand, is a unique product. The 1766 test, in my opinion, is more accurate and the gold standard for pool testing at home. These strips read about 600ppm lower than the Taylor test, so it's probably best to test with both so you don't "over salt" your pool or get confused by a failing salt cell that always reads too low as it fails. So, after 30 years of living with salt water chlorine generators, use a Taylor K1766 test kit backed-up by a Taylor K1766 test kit backed-up by a Taylor K1766 test kit backed-up by Taylor K1766 test kit backed-up by Taylor K1766 test kit backed-up Replace and/or clean your salt generating cell when the reading of your salt levels is so low that it no longer generates chlorine - the most common mode of failure How long your salt cell will last is determined by how frequently it generates and the percentage you set - They all have a set lifespan and will be depleted after a certain amount of chlorine has been generated.

It's simple to operate and precise
5/5

These strips are simple to use and have consistently performed well in my tests. br>br>My Hayward T9 salt generator consistently displays salt levels that are significantly higher than those measured by my pool company. Within 100ppm, these salt strips match the readings from my pool company. This eliminates the need for me to guess when it comes to keeping my salt at the right level. I only bring water in for professional measurement about once a month, so I'm able to keep things stable the rest of the time, especially after a big rain. br>br>All you have to do is pour an inch of pool water into a glass or container, then place the strip in for two minutes. It only takes three minutes. There is no ambiguity in the reading, and there is no guesswork! This is an excellent product.

It's very simple and intuitive to use
5/5

It's extremely simple to use and intuitive. Also, the results are very consistent, which is reassuring. invigorating br>I'd like to see a brief description of the chemical processes that were used; However, all we know is that it can measure sodium chloride and sodium bromide concentrationsbr>- Is it solely based on sodium chemistry, or does it also monitor potassium and calcium salts in the water? br>However, that's nitpicking; it's perfectly adequate for testing salt levels in a saltwater pool.

The results of three readings taken over three days are identical - However, this is not a good thing
3/5

We over-salted our pool, believing that the rain would dilute it. However, it turned out that there was a problem with the system. I fixed it, and for the past three days, I've been wasting water for about 25 minutes, four to eight times a day. With each waste, we use about 3" to 4" of water, then refill it and repeat the process. My other testers' numbers have dropped, but the strips' numbers have remained constant every day. What makes you think that? I'm going to keep using this bottle to see how long it takes the numbers to drop.

Low-cost and simple My local pool supply store uses these strips as well
5/5

These are the Quantab strips, not the color-changing indicator strips. Quantab stands for quantitative ability, and it is a registered trademark of Hach, the company that makes all AquaChek test strips. The sodium chloride test ranges from 390 to 490 milligrams per gram of sodium chloride. When compared to the recommended level of 3,400 ppm for a salt water pool, 7,200 ppm is more than enough. br>br>The test is extremely simple and quick (3 minutes). (in 4 minutes) 1) Dip your arm to your elbow and collect a water sample from the pool's deep end. I use an old spice glass jar that is about 1-quart in size. diameter of one inch You only need to fill it to a height of 1 inch. br>2) Insert the test strip, but only to a depth of 1 inch. br>3) When you've completed the first three steps, you can move on to the next step Take notice of the white peak that has streaked up the strip after 4 minutes or when the yellow band at the top has turned brown. Read the number at that point and use the scale on the bottle to convert it to the salt ppm level. I'll take a picture of one of my test strips and post it here. br>br>Please note that there are 40 strips in this bottle. Although you can take a water sample to your local store for free testing, I prefer to do it myself at home because I am not under any pressure to have the water sample tested in 45 minutes. The store, as I previously stated, uses the same strips. They sell the same strips as well, but because the bottles only contain 10 strips, the price is slightly higher. The recommended maintenance schedule for our pool is to test the salt level monthly, so this bottle should last more than three years, according to our pool manual. That being said, I received my bottle in May 2012, and the expiration date is March 2014, which is less than three years away. We're testing more frequently now that we're adding salt to our pool until we reach the recommended 3,400 ppm level, so I'll probably use up all of the strips before they expire. By the way, we do have a weekly pool maintenance person, but since we've been adding bags of salt, I like to test our pool water myself. br>br>As a chemical engineer, I considered purchasing a digital meter for a more precise reading, but it's unnecessary, more expensive, and I'd rather avoid dealing with the hassle of calibration fluids. Overall, I recommend the AquaCheck Quantab salt strips, as well as the other AquaCheck strips that I use. The vendor responded quickly and shipped quickly as well.

It's simple to use, and it's precise
4/5

Excellent salt test strip that is both precise and easy to use. Simply fill the container with 1" of water, wait for the top strip to turn black, and read the white mark's peak. Because the label instructions were obscured by a bar code sticker, I deducted one point. Perhaps the manufacturer should include QR code instructions or re-design the label.

For such a short expiration date, there are too many strips
3/5

This is an excellent saltwater test kit that is extremely accurate. The only issue I have with it is that there are far too many test strips left before they expire. To get rid of all the test strips before the expiration date, you'd almost have to test your water every day. I only wish there were fewer of these available. Essentially, they'll spoil before you've used them all.

Strips for measuring salt levels
5/5

This product is fantastic; it's simple to use and gives you a precise reading of your pool's salt level. It is no longer necessary to visit a pool store to have your level checked. This product is fantastic value for money, and I highly recommend it.
