Questions & Answers

Could you please tell me what the active ingredients in GLB algaecide are?

Hello, we're the makers of GLB Strike Out Algaecide, which has the following active ingredients: Ethanolamine, BASIC COPPER CARBONATE, and Citric Acid are all examples of triethanolamine. If you have any additional questions, please contact us at 866- 484- 7665

Should this be added directly to the skimmer to treat the paper filter first, or should it be treated for algae as well?

Before putting it in the pool, I always mix it in a 5-gallon bucket with pool water. If treated properly and on a regular basis, this will eliminate all algae in the pool and filter system. You could put it in the skimmer right away, but it's not necessary.

Okay, I understand the diluting part, but what exactly does "dilute with at least nine parts of water" mean? I have a 20k gallon pool and according to the bottle, I should use 8 oz. ?

I've been using this product for quite some time. This product was recommended to me because I had a serious algae problem in my 30,000 gallon pool. I had to use the entire bottle at first, but it quickly resolved the issue. As a preventative measure, I now add 6 ounces of chlorine to my pool once a week, and I haven't had an algae problem since. To administer the doses, I dissolve the 6 ounces in a bucket of water and thoroughly mix it. Then, while the filter is running, I pore it along the pool's edge in the deep end. I hope you find this information useful.

I have a 3 to 5000 gallon pool from Walmart, and the water is green. How much of this algicide do I need to mix before putting it in the pool?

You must first shock it with liquid chlorine, and then apply algaecide after your water has been properly balanced. It appears that you will require a PH enhancer. The Arm would be my first choice. Baking soda should be hammered out. Bags of 8 pounds are available.

Miracle in the Pool
5/5

So, let me start by saying that I am not a pool expert, and I honestly don't know what I'm doing half of the time when it comes to proper pool maintenance. br>br>All I know is that my pool had turned into a swamp, with a putrid green color, no visibility to the bottom, and a foul odor. (Keep in mind that this occurred during the monsoon season, which lasted about a week and a half. ) )br>br>I bought this stuff out of desperation because all the chlorine and shock I was dumping in my pool wasn't working to fix the ever-present swamp in my backyard, which was getting worse by the day. br>br>So, when I got it in, I figured, what the hell, I'll give it a shot. I'll admit that I didn't measure this product; instead, I drizzled some in as I walked around the pool's perimeter. My pool was 75% better by the NEXT DAY ! So the next day, I drizzled a little more, and my pool was back to being blue! It was nothing short of miraculous. I could see the bottom, and the green swampiness of the previous days had vanished. br>br>I highly recommend this product because it works even if you're like me and have no idea what you're doing when it comes to pool maintenance.

Algae has been eliminated, and the product is now being used on a regular basis

Because of the cost, I dread having to reorder chemicals, but this stuff has earned a permanent spot on my pool maintenance must-have list. My wife and I have lived in our home with a 32,000 gallon pool for the past 5 years. Pool owners for the first time. I had no trouble keeping it clean for the first year, but after a particularly heavy storm and a delay in cleaning up the leaves and small branches that had blown in, the organic debris threw the chemical balance out of whack, and we ended up with a green pool. I knew I needed an algaecide, so I treated it right away with a brand I found in a nearby store, but it only made a minor difference. I did some more searching and came across GLB on Amazon, which I decided to try because of the copper ingredient; I knew copper would kill a fully grown tree and stumps, so I assumed it would have an effect on algae. I followed the instructions on the bottle, and our pool was clear and free of algae within 24 hours. Since then, I've kept a full bottle on hand in case of an emergency and a second for weekly preventative treatments. I only use a small amount for weekly treatments; I guess it's around 1/2-cup. In our deep end, 1 oz was poured in front of the water return. We had some minor wall algae and on our steps due to neglected chlorine levels a couple of times over the years, but a doubled dose of my usual GLB weekly treatment directly in the area of the algae breakout has wiped it out by the next day every time. Again, this stuff isn't cheap, but in my applications it has worked reliably every time.

I feel compelled to write a review for this product in order to inform potential purchasers of its value. When it comes to pool maintenance, I'm definitely a "layperson. " I'm familiar with the fundamentals of maintaining chemical balance, but that's about it. I've been dealing with a yellowish dust that appears every few days for the past several months. I clean the pool's steps and sides thoroughly, but the "dust" reappears three days later. Because the chemicals appeared to be in order, I was constantly wondering if this could be algae, even though the chlorine, PH, and other indicators were all within acceptable limits. Because I live in a windy area, I kept telling myself it was pollen and dust. Isn't it just that it's filthy? Wrong. I finally had enough of the yellow, filthy dust, so I bought this product and shocked the pool about 12 hours after using the GLB, as recommended by other reviewers. I used a clarifier that I purchased at Lowes about 24 hours later. That was three weeks ago, and my pool hasn't had any "yellow dust" since then. That yellow dust was, in fact, yellow algae, and one treatment with this product was all it took to get rid of it. If you're having a similar problem, you should give this product a shot.

This is my new go-to product for algae
5/5

I had covered my pool for a week with the solar cover and had green algae when I removed it. I attempted to combat it in every way possible. Other items from stores such as Walmart and shock I was irritated because we were about to close the pool. I went to Amazon and searched for Strikeout based on customer reviews. I poured it in without paying attention to the instructions. Oops. However, without scrubbing or wiping the side walls or ladder, the entire pool was crystal clear in just two days. You must believe me when I say that I am not joking. There isn't a speck of green in sight. For next summer, I'm going to buy more of this. This product is required if you have an algae problem; I wish I could show you pictures of how green my 27-foot above-ground pool was. It was a bright green color.

It comes highly recommended! My parents, who are in their eighties, have an in-ground pool that has been plagued by algae for several years

It got to the point where daddy had to drain the pool and empty the algae sludge into a bucket. So, after hearing him sound defeated, I grabbed my iPad and went to Google to look up the issue. It didn't take long for me to figure out that he needed algaecide, so I headed straight to Amazon. I always check the stars to see which products are good, and GLB caught my eye, so I bought it for him. Let me tell you something: I'm now the "golden son" because the pool has remained crystal clear since I started using it, even during the scorching summer of 2016 in South Georgia. This is a fantastic product, and I wish I had found it a few years ago when my parents were looking for something similar. I only have 5 stars to give it, but it deserves more!.

I used to have a problem with algae, but no longer do

This stuff is effective. Two cautionary words. It contains cooper, which isn't a big deal if you have a vinyl liner, but it could stain a pool with a non-vinyl liner. Copper can react with almost anything, including dyed hair, causing it to turn green. br>br>The only sure way to get rid of cooper is to change your water, which is neither easy nor inexpensive for most people. Now, I'm a big fan of it and try to use it as little as possible - As a result, I don't have any issues.
