While I am aware that you don't live in New York State, I live in NY. The cost of education could differ slightly from county to county, but I see no reason why this would happen. Even the Amish barns, sheds, and garages that I've had before do not require a permit in my area. I've also had these carports before and never needed a permit.

The roof took 4 people about 5 hours to put together, and it's a good product, but I am only giving it a 3 star review because the description says it has a charcoal It is a medium grey roof with a slight tint of green, so if you consider it charcoal, you can give it a 5. We weren't too happy with the color, but it was our other choice. We really wanted the brown roof shown in every picture. A decent set of instructions is included. In putting on the roof, the ridge panels are the most important, so measure twice on each side before screwing them in place. In the end, the edges were about 3/16" off, but all that is covered by the end tape. Please also consider The importance of wearing gloves cannot be overstated. was injured after getting caught on the edge of the roof and ended up at the hospital with a tetanus shot and 3 stitches.
The layout of your pieces is very easy once you've done it. There was one thing I did not like which was that the roof panels were laid out horizontally instead of vertically, so water accumulates.
