As long as the clothing is damp and clean after each use, you shouldn't need to use Scotchguard. The clothing repels water and is easy to clean. The one we have is weather resistant and cleans up easily after being out in the elements.
This is not a very thick, but waterproof material.

also had the same issue. It was a bit tight for my fire pit, which is 36 inches in diameter. So I am unsure whether it would be able to It is 5". You can always return it for free on Amazon Prime, so you might as well buy it and try it.

Having never used Mr. Cover before, I was nervous to order a replacement cover for our firepit. I couldn't tell what the material or fit would be like from the photos, so I made my best guess with them. I'm so glad I bought it, because it looks better than the one that came with the fire pit, fits as well as the picture shows, and is almost as durable and attractive. Since the day I put it on, it has snowed, rained hard for several weeks, and it looks the same today This is a very happy moment for me. It is a great product, and I will certainly buy it again if the need arises.
As the original fire table cover literally disintegrated over the winter, I was trying to find one to replace it. Canvas is used for this one. It has a hand hold, an accessory pocket on the side and adjustable tie-down loops for the legs on the bottom. The price is the only thing that caught my eye again. My search for covers lasted over a year and I was shocked to see how outrageous the prices are.
A lot of rain has fallen and just a couple inches of snow has fallen. We are really pleased with how well it works, and it is pretty durable as well. It's a good start, but I hope it lasts a few years.
I found the fire pit to be the perfect fit. I think this cover is much better designed and more sturdy than the OEM cover which disintegrated after just two.
Good quality for the price. However, the sun damaged our outdoor covers fairly quickly since we live in Denver. It is expected that this cover will last for a long time, but in case it does not, it is reasonably priced. It was a great purchase and I recommend it.
