To provide a constant flow of water to my UV light, I use this pump. My filter and waterfall do not use it as the main pump. There is no stoppage in the pump. Whenever I review a product, I like to test it out and give my honest opinion. The pump I own was purchased in late July of this year. I was pleasantly surprised by my first impression. My fountain is fairly large (100 gallons or so). Since I prefer a more tranquil sound, this pump is my preferred choice over a higher volume pump. Six months into the pump's life, it suddenly stopped lifting height and volume. For the past two years it worked smoothly, but now the pump has failed. We used continuous filtering with Tetra pre-filter, which kept the unit clean, but there was an issue with the overheating. I took it apart to clean the propeller as Tetra recommends, and there were no clogs, however, my husband noticed that there was a ceramic rod that fit through the magnet cylinder that was broken. Is it possible to make it of something that will last longer like aluminum that won't warp in hotter weather? It might have failed to cool down because the safety feature that turns it off did not stop? It would be great if it could last another year, but we're bummed that we have to order a replacement for forty bucks

For my preform ponds that I installed in front of our house, I purchased two of these and included a spillway for each one. In the upper pond, the pump has to pump water up 18" to the top for the spillway, but the 100 gallon pond, the pump has to pump water up about 3 feet for the spillway. The spillway sits on the shelf of the first A nice waterfall is easy to make with the pump as it maintains a good flow within the spillway. I only have one problem, and it has nothing to do with my pump or hoses, but rather with the wind blowing almost every day in Nebraska at five miles per hour Due to the wind blowing the water out of the pond as it passes though the spillway, we usually have to fill the pond pretty frequently when it is blowing 10 mph or more. In spite of having already set up the ponds this season, I knew we had a leak in the hoses or at the connection of the spillway, but I thought we had just a slight leak. The ponds have been emptied while I try to find a way to fix this issue without losing the ambiance that waterfalls provide. Moreover, I should also take out the lower pond in order to fix an issue with how the water blows out and drains beneath it, requiring a pond pull back out of the ground. Depending on how I pull the pond out and fix the hole, I may be able to reposition it closer to the upper pond so that the problem with water loss is solved. If anyone has ideas on how to fix this water loss issue, I am all ears and I value any and all suggestions. I'll add photos once I have time to take them in the very near future. The pros are The TetraPond 500 gallon box filter is easily attached to this filter and it has good rubber feet to keep it off the ground. The main cons of this filter are that it has good water flow for decorative ponds with spillways, and it is easy to install. There are none on my desk.
I agree with the others that it is a great little pump, but it doesn't last As for me, it lasted almost a year and a half. This pump was purchased on May 20th, 2018 and today is the 7th of March, As we read about a similar problem another person had with the same pump, we followed the directions the Manufacturing Representative replied back to us with. A vinegar solution was being prepared to clean the impeller of the pump after it was taken apart. A broken shaft was discovered in our pump.
