Questions & Answers

This netting is the fabric type or the plastic kind? Would you please accept my thanks?

Describe the fabric. I've never purchased a net for my pond that I've loved so much! In addition, this was the first time I reused a net. I threw out the others because they were so worn My only regret is that I didn't buy this sooner.

Can you tell me the mesh size?

Dear Mr. Brodell, I have just measured the mesh of the net on my pond and it is an inch by an inch. In addition to keeping out most leaves, it keeps out all wading birds. There have been quite a few deer repelled by this fence. This should be helpful, I hope. I wish you the best of luck,

Can you tell me what size the holes in the net are?

The net is 1/2 inch in diameter. This summer, I'm going to save my fish

What is the material of the netting? Is it plastic or a cloth?

Like netting, it is made of cloth. Having used it for a long time, I find it very I bought this system to keep the fall leaves out of the pond, and recently my Koi started jumping from the pond for no apparent reason. Since then, I have covered it with a net to prevent the insects from escaping. Basically, I find that it does not have many stakes to hold it down, which is something I'd like to change. You can also buy tent stakes to hold it down. I used some rocks to hold it down.

A woman catches leaves In most cases, animals are free to roam
4/5

Natural gas was discovered in our area and we were overjoyed. Taking a look at rocks We have a fountain in the front yard of our new home, situated in a forested setting. The birds, squirrels, raccoons, frogs, lizards, toads and others that live nearby all live in my yard. It was also a delight for them. There was a natural wonderland until the forest started to lose its leaves, and every leaf on the ground seemed to end up in the It was a daily ritual for me to clean it, avoiding forest critters, and figuring out how a person could have both A Fountain and A Life at the same time, while my husband threatened just to plant a bamboo plant to fill the hole. Amazon pointed us to this solution, and after spending two weekends in snake boots and gloves with all sorts of rakes in all shapes and sizes, we found it most useful. The net is put down after the tools have been cleaned. used wire hangers, which we cut into open staples to hold it in the dirt, and readily-available-sized rocks for inlays The patio has forest rocks that can be used to hold it down. Our purpose for the net was a little larger than what it was, so we just rolled it up where it was too large. I'm sure it accomplished what it had to do You couldn't even tell what was under the net because so many leaves were prevented from getting into the fountain. While the animals could not drink during the spring, they continued to come Water filled the fountain when we shut it off, and the snow and rainwater melted. Under that leaf net there's always something lurking. I must mention, however, that one year we caught two birds in the net. During a freak warm spell in December, a large garter snake ventured from the rocks, and after eating it became bulkier, leading to its capture by There was also a small bird who got her leg caught in the net but was able to get it free. The bulky excess net attracted a lot of bugs, and a pileated woodpecker avoided putting his bulky feet in the wrong place by not putting his foot in the wrong In addition to that, we still have to clean up when the net comes off every year Leaf fragment, acorn and walnut fragments, along with dirt and bugs get through and contaminate the water, but the situation could be We take two weekends before and two weekends after each season, and we also provide a net in the winter. I would much rather do this than cleaning each day. Bamboo is not an option. The birds and animals that visit our fountain are always a delight to us. A RECENT UPDATE The following will happen in 2020 (obviously) Because we had a salamander, we left the fountain running while the net was down (I assume This wasn't going to be a risk for me). It should have provided me with an early warning that the birds were very interested in the running water. We have had four birds get beneath the net in some way, and it seems that while they were able to find the EXIT, they were not able to find the entrance. They have already been traumatized by the net, so seeing a human approaching just made matters worse. During their frantic attempts to escape, two of the four, Juncos, got their little heads stuck in the net itself. The first bird was able to stand up and fly out as soon as we opened the net up We all needed assistance (seen for the first time, he too flew away and seemed fine, but it seemed to upset us all). In recognition of the warmer weather and the fact that the leaf drop appears to have passed, we have removed the net entirely, so as not to cause any more problems. We haven't decided what to do for next year yet.

Leaves are kept out, but it still allows access to critters Last Autumn, I found myself skimming at least twice a day with my hands in our pond
5/5

It was our idea to dig a pond under our Honeysuckle tree in the backyard. But we figured, "hey, it will give the fish a place to hide on hot sunny days, and we can keep the leaves from falling. " In truth, we found out this fall that it wouldn't have mattered which spot we chose for our pond, since the Autumn has been windy, so we've been collecting leaves both from our own tree and our neighbors' tree. There was a regular deluge of leaves. It was perfect to find pond netting of that size. As it has a certain degree of give to it, it should bend in weird directions if you stretch it. We have lots of birds and squirrels at our pond, as well as 6 frogs at highest count, so I was not sure how someone would use a net. However, I realized that I could just attach it to higher spots in the pond - no problem at all. The net was slung over a few deck chairs, clipped to a fence, and hung from a small tree on one side. I got some carabiners from a pile at home to hook the net. doubled or tripled up the net around where I hooked it so it wouldn't tear, and it worked perfectly. With deck chairs, I would wrap the net around the back of the chair and secure it to the ground with one of the stakes. I was not able to lose a single carabiner or stake, so my pond was covered, and all of Mother Nature's creatures were free to go in and out of the water without getting trapped. Thanks for reading! I hope it was helpful!.

My experience with this net was far superior to that of other nets I've used
5/5

Compared to usual plastic nets which seem to have hooks in the matrix, this one does not have any hooks, so it does not loosen itself constantly. In this case, it will almost behave more like a fabric, where the net will slide across itself instead of I am so glad to have this feature! Additionally, the new net is easier to remove leaves from the surface than the old one. Although the openings are not large, unfortunately I placed my pond too close to a burning bush, and the leaves from the bush are just narrow enough to slip through the weave and Including anchors for perimeter security seems like an afterthought, but I have plenty of earth staples on hand, so I was able to secure it with those exclusively.

This is the answer to the preying blue heron problem! As soon as the net is on the pond, it cannot be seen
5/5

It is flexible, easy to install, and hardly noticeable. It appears as if the net floats just below the surface and is invisible when it is in A bit of the net has floated on the water since taking this photo, so there is more more of it floating on the water. During the cold winter months and until the herons return in the spring, we will keep it in place. The painting was bought in October, just after I saw a heron looking at our goldfish from beside our backyard pond. During the two months since, not a single fish has been lost. Anchored by large rocks around the perimeter of the pond, the net is encircled by the net. Neither stakes nor tenons have been used in the past. Bringing the net back to tend to the plants in the pond is simple, and then securing it again under the rocks is equally easy.
