Selected User Reviews For Tel-Tru BQ300 Barbecue Thermometer, 3 inch black dial with zones, 4 inch stem, 100/500 degrees F

It is a quality thermometer without a doubt! Using these thermometers in place of the OEM Oklahoma Joe's Highland thermometer, I just switched out the OEM for the second time today Tel-Tru thermometers are superior to the Tru thermometers in terms of quality, and I can say that you can just feel that difference between the two in your hands This is true
5/5

In addition to being much larger and more solid than what I uploaded in the comparison pictures, you can see it in the pictures. There will be a difference between that and Oklahoma Joe's thermometer because the 4 inch stem will be closer to the cook. Neither of the thermometers have been tested yet, but this should be done My pictures so far show that the shirt is made in the USA and the quality is decent. Additionally, I forgot to add that these telephones are wireless Oklahoma Joe's Highland Smoker is already equipped with a 1/2 inch diameter hole for replacing the thermometers. is no need for a washer and nut and no holes need to be drilled.

Now that I am ready to smoke some ribs! I was able to mount this to my Weber Smokey Mountain Bullet Smoker dome lid without any problem
4/5

But I had to deduct a star because I was not provided with the installation kit (A nut and a washer that I could not find in many There is an additional fee of $9 for the installation kit. The price has now risen to $12 as of 7/18/2018. $1 to produce Based on my experience and the experience of others who have reviewed this product, I believe the kit should be included in the final price, even if the price was increased by $1. The price went up by three dollars. My review was reduced by one star as a result. Nonetheless, the product is fantastic in its own right. As of now, I've used it twice to smoke chicken wings the first time, and ribs the second time. Both times I was able to monitor the temperature very The temperature gauge on the bench is much better than the factory installed I had been using the previous model of smoker and liked how it worked, but this one performs better. The numbers and dial are easy to read and the stem sticks down 4", giving me a better sense of what the temperature is inside the Do not forget to subtract about 10 percent With a bullet smoker such as the WSM, you'll need to subtract 15 degrees so that the temperature is in line with what's on the grate(s). If you obey these two rules, then you'll be ready for a smoke to the core! In addition, I would like to point out Once you remove the factory thermometer housing from the WSM, you will need to join the remaining holes using high heat silicon which you can buy from Amazon. It is unpleasant for me for my smoker to leak smoke or air in places that were not By doing this, you can keep the temperature under The following updates have been made to the 7/18/18 post Having used this product for quite some time with my 22" Weber Smokey Mountain smoker, I want to let those of you who may be considering it know you definitely need to account for the difference in temperature at the top grate compared to the dome. According to my experience, there is a difference of about 25 degrees. I attempt to lower the temperature on the Tel- when I adjust vents and coal, so that gives me I'm at 225F on the grate where my ribs are at the top of the dome, so I'm at 225F on top. It's unclear at this point what the temperature would be on the secondary grate, but since I typically smoke at the top grate, I'm okay with the rise in temperature Other than that, I am very, very pleased with the thermometer in itself and recommend it highly. There is only one complaint I have, which was mentioned before. It is that the installation kit is now $12 instead of $9. The cost of a nut and washer is 95 cents. Therefore, if you are considering buying one of these, keep that in mind.

It includes a lock that isn't a lock It is not necessary to purchase a separate install kit
5/5

This was highly rated. However, I had read reviews that you had to buy the install kit as well. The majority of grills with a pre-heating system There are threaded 1/2 inch NPT thermometer holes and plugs installed on this, so just screw it As for the lock nut, it also contains one (it does not include a washer, but I didn't need one since I threaded in the bolt). In addition, I refrained from using high-resolution images It was temp loctite that held the threads in place. There is only ONE way in which the lock nut fits (the prongs "curved inward" towards one side), so you need to make sure it is positioned so it "prongs to metal" on the backside, and then tighten it down. Although I have not yet fired it up and tested it, I am anticipating it will be of use. My attention was focused on it until it arrived Nevertheless, these are the things that smokers and grillers should adhere to.

About 5 degrees cooler than normal
4/5

A digital thermometer I bought from a reputable company was used to perform a boil test. I live in an area where the water boils at 210 degrees. There is a 5 degree difference in temperature. It read 210 on the digital baseline. There was a 5 degree temperature difference, but the tel- A true reading of 205 was achieved. A second test was done with the hot water tap (130 degrees) and also showed about five degrees cooler water. I give this product four stars instead of five since it measures ambient rather than food, so the five-degree difference isn't a deal breaker but documentation says plus or minus 1 degree difference, so that's why I gave it.

I finally understood the reason for the popularity of the BBQ thermometer
5/5

The Tel-Aviv phone was bought by me My Old Country Bbq Pit Pecos came with an Old Country Bbq thermometer. I purchased this thermometer to upgrade my previous one. It was a disappointing outcome for Tel-Aviv I find it easier to read the black dial at a glance when the dial is black.
if you know how to barbecue, then you will know that There is no alternative to a Tru product. My lock came with a nut, but I purchased the installation kit, which comes with a washer and a different type of lock. Your poison is up to you. It was a disappointing outcome for Tel-Aviv The true read registers instantly, so you can tell at a glance which way your fire is heading.

We only use the best products
5/5

To go on my Pit Boss Austin XL, I ordered this thermometer. It was very pleasing to find that I didn't have to drill a larger hole in order to install the device. Exactly what I needed. I am impressed with the appearance, quality and accuracy of this thermometer. * As previously mentioned in previous reviews, I feel the price is a bit high for a 12 volt thermometer. For an "installation kit" that includes a nut and washer, you'll pay $95. Having said that, everything arrived very quickly and the accuracy is outstanding. It is an excellent addition to the smoker I have.

It's a great thermo, but why do you need an install kit for $7? I really like this However, I do
5/5

There is no reason why you should have to pay $7 for the installation kit. The nut consists of a washer and a nut. The way that the device is now, those items could easily be threaded onto it, and packaged. A modification would probably need to be made to the pattern cut into the cardboard for packaging. We would appreciate it if you would charge another dollar for the thermometer, and please include the bolt and nut as well. This thermometer is still very good and accurate as far as its accuracy goes This is a nicely made unit, and I wouldn't consider the installation kit a deal breaker, it's just annoying. How can a product that otherwise is perfect be blemished?.
