Questions & Answers

Will the display need to be reset after installation?

Hello Sparkyman,br>When you remove the batteries from the sensor, the display will typically need to be reset. It's possible that the sensor will reconnect without requiring the display to be reset. If you lose connection and it doesn't come back, make sure you're using a high-quality standard alkaline battery and follow the troubleshooting steps below. If the problem persists, please use the Live Chat feature to contact the AcuRite Support Team. Thank you very much. br>Reset to factory defaults:
- Remove all batteries from both units and, if the display has an ac adapter, unplug it.br>- Change the ABC Switch to a different setting and make sure they're both the same. example - If you're on A, switch to Cbr>- br>- First, install the batteries in the outdoor sensor. Insert the batteries into the displaybr>- Allow the units to sit next to each other until they connect.br>br>Have a wonderful day,br>Rachellbr>AcuRite Support Team

In the 5 in 1weather station, what does bank 1 and bank 2 batteries do?

Hello Daniel, Having two banks in the battery pack allows you to change the batteries in the pack without affecting the 5in1 sensor's power. The 5in1 sensor will be powered by both banks. Please contact the AcuRite Support Team via Live Chat if you have any additional questions; we will be happy to help. Thank you very much. br>br>Have a wonderful day,br>AcuRite Support Team,br>Rachellbr>

Is this compatible with a ws-environmental weather station? 0900?

Even if it isn't available for ambient ws900, that doesn't rule out the possibility of a custom build. We 'cobbled' a battery pack for our ambient weather out of rechargable batteries, a small solar panel, and wire to roof connections, and it works. I'm not selling it because I don't want to get sued if it blows up or something stupid happens.

Is it true that the battery pack is functional?

Greetings, br>br>Yes, the battery pack is operational. If you have any additional questions, call the AcuRite Loyalty Team at 262- 249- 3259, we'd be delighted to help. Thank you very much. br>br>Have a wonderful day, Jenniferbr>br>AcuRite Loyalty Teambr>br>

Selected User Reviews For AcuRite Iris 06052M Remote Battery Pack for 5-in-1 Weather Sensors

It's best to avoid using batteries altogether
4/5

Instead, replace it with two voltage regulators from an old wall wart. My Acurite 02064 weather station (purchased on Amazon) has been with me for about four months. I've been running it on a Raspberry Pi with Weewx software, which provides a much more accurate picture of what the Acurite is doing than "myAcurite" would. Weewx uses a graph to display the signal quality from the outdoor sensors. The most noticeable trend this summer was that as the batteries deteriorated, the signal would go out in the afternoon when the station's components heated up. I received the remote battery holder after a month. Now I could, and had to, change batteries on a regular basis. The heating issue persisted, but only after the batteries had been used for a shorter period of time than before the remote holder was installed. This makes sense because the voltage of the battery drops along the long wires between the station and the remote holder, so new batteries start at a lower voltage and drop as they age. br> So I got a 12 volt wall wart (one amp) and hooked up two voltage regulators (available at Amazon - search for eBoot 6 pack LM2596 DC to DC buck converter) and adjusted their potentiometers to get a 3. 5 volts, which is high enough to provide the station with "new battery" voltage that won't degrade over time; perfect! So far, no signal quality issues. Although it hasn't been put to the test in the hottest summer temperatures, it is the best this weather station has ever done. br> Two batteries are labeled "bank 1" and two batteries are labeled "bank 2" on the remote battery holder. Within the banks, one side connects the batteries together (which is easily visible), while the other side has separate connectors. Connect the voltage regulators, one for each bank, to the side where the batteries will not be shorted together. That's the only thing I have to say on the subject. br>br>* It appears to me that "myAcurite" (Acurite's Windows software intended for use with this station) simply keeps displaying the last received data (as if that were currently accurate) and falsely reports that it is still receiving data when its sensors are not communicating.

This product is a great idea from Acurite
5/5

If you have a 5 in 1 weather station mounted higher than 7 feet off the ground, this is a must to make changing the batteries super simple. The 5 in 1's installation is simple, but keep an eye out for the small ribbon that wraps around the batteries. I was unable to tuck it in and had to cut it off. If your station is mounted to a metal pole, one piece of advice is to avoid spiraling the wire around the pole. When I did that, my AcuBridge began to have communication problems. I'm guessing that by wrapping the wire, I caused some interference by creating a small magnetic field.

Untrustworthy garbage
3/5

Acurite's geniuses created an outdoor product out of rust-resistant metals. Mine was kept dry and sealed in a waterproof box, but it still rusted until it failed completely. br>Recent changes: After hard wiring the power via an old wall outlet, signal reception improved dramatically. I used to get 50-100 warts a year when I was younger. 80% packet loss on new batteries even on new batteries I get 100% reception now that it is no longer battery powered (I'm capturing radio packets with an SDR to collect weather data without using Acurite's base station).

Every afternoon, I was unsuccessful
3/5

The weather station would stop sending data every afternoon if the remote battery pack was installed. It would resume sending data after it had cooled down at night. The battery pack was tucked away in the shady corner of the room. The weather was kept out of it. I can only assume that when the weather station's unit warmed up in the sun, it didn't make good contact. Everything is working properly after removing the remote battery pack and replacing the batteries in the weather station.

Minor enhancements are required
4/5

This is a fantastic idea. There will be no more battery changes on the roof. Unfortunately, on one end, it is hard wired to the terminal block, and on the other, it is hard wired to the battery compartment. To get the wire through the wall and mount the battery compartment in the garage or house, you'll need to modify the seal on a window or door. A 3. A 5mm mini plug and socket is required in the battery compartment.

If you've got a roof or a higher mount, this is a must-have! What a brilliant concept! br>br>I recently purchased and installed this one
5/5

br>It's a breeze to set up; It's the same as putting batteries in. br>The card is very long in order to accommodate those who are going to the maximum distance of 33' or so. br>Because I didn't go that high, I simply tucked the excess cord inside the mast for a tidy finish. br>br>Now, when it's time to replace the batteries, I can simply walk up to it from ground level and do so, which my wife appreciates. br>Even though I'm in good shape, it would be a shame if I fell off the roof trying to change the batteries in my 5-in-1 weather station one day. br>br>Excellent product, but it should be included in future versions because the additional cost would keep the 5 and 1 at a low price.

However, a battery pack is an excellent idea
4/5

Both the weather station and the external battery pack were only recently installed. The weather station is mounted on a post with an extension (really, a hockey stick! ), as you can see in the pictures. ) to get it at a distance of about 12 feet. higher than the ground Then I decided it was time to get the remote battery pack, and my main concern was that it would get wet and rusty over time, rendering it useless, so I mounted it inside a weatherproof enclosure I borrowed from a friend. I was worried that because the battery pack was sealed inside during the summer months, it would get too hot, so I drilled some small holes top and bottom at an upward angle to keep water out. This should allow air to flow freely through the enclosure while keeping moisture out. I'm still worried that the battery contacts will rust and render the battery pack useless after reading some of the other reviews. it is useful Only time will tell if this is true. I can't give this product five stars based on some of the other reviews and the fact that I've only had it for a few days at this point. I agree that the design is a little depressing, but in my case, I couldn't think of a better way to get the batteries out of the way quickly.
