Because the batteries need sunlight to stay charged, they will work if they are placed in a sunny location. If they aren't exposed to direct sunlight, the batteries will lose their charge and stop working.
With one of them, I had a similar experience. I believe the unit is having a malfunction. I switched it for a different one. (One was given to me by a relative who had some extras.)
It's switched off. After a day or two of charging, you turn them on by pressing the back button.
The light's battery should last for at least a year.

They're simple to install and don't take up too much space, and they look fantastic on my new fence. The pictures I provided are pretty much at dusk, but I've been out at 3 a. m. with it being pitch black in and it offers a beautiful glow in the backyard that gently illuminates everything and isn't overly bright, but you can see what you're doing. My only concern, now that I'm in Florida, is how long they'll be able to keep up with the weather. I've never had good luck with walkway lights; they usually only last about a year, so we'll see how long these last. On a scale of one to ten, I give these a ten because the quality appears to be excellent, and I love the polished silver. The lights themselves are a bright, crisp white, not yellow, which I dislike. However, if you're looking for a bright, clear light, these are the ones to go with.
When I first got these and installed them, I was very impressed. They shone brightly and lasted the entire night. br>br>Within a few weeks, the brightness had dropped to about half of its previous level. It was still bright enough to light up the steps I was standing on, but the decrease was disappointing. Sadly, instead of lasting all night, they only lasted a few hours after only a few weeks, defeating the purpose of having these installed. Finally, after being charged for the entire day, they would only run for about two hours. There isn't enough light to illuminate the steps, which we use for many hours after sunset. br>br>I'm not sure if this is a problem with all or most outdoor solar lights, but it disappointed me greatly.
When I first opened the package, I thought the lights were of good quality for the price, and I was impressed by the inclusion of double-sided tape and mounting screws. I didn't realize it when I first installed them on my fence that you had to press a button on the back to turn them on. That's fine, but you'll have to redo your sticky tape or screws to get to the button. Perhaps the on/off button should have been placed at the bottom. br>br>Once I got that figured out and covered the solar panel to see if they worked, they were fantastic! For a period of two days In my backyard, they get plenty of sun for half the day, and none of the ten I purchased are currently operational. You should save your money and look for something else to do with it.
Despite the fact that it was a little more expensive, I chose this one out of the many available options. The 30 LED lights were fantastic, and after only 4 hours of charging, they lit up the backyard. It has a lumen rating of 60, which is more than twice that of the other options. br>br>However, after a few weeks, one of the lights becomes dim and does not last all night. Around 8 p. m. , it begins to get dark, but by 12 a. m. , it is completely dark.
These deck lights do not produce the amount of light that is advertised. We hung these on our backyard fence in the hopes of making it more visible at night. Nope. You can't see anything unless you're right in front of the lights. It was a colossal waste of time and money.
These are fantastic lights. I purchased the 8-pack to go on top of the vinyl panels on a new privacy fence I recently installed. They do an excellent job of providing just enough light to illuminate my back yard. The battery lasts an incredible amount of time. Around 8 p. m. , they start playing. 30 p. m. , and when I awoke at 4 a. m. , it was: They were still going strong at 3 a. m. These lights are excellent in terms of quality and appearance. The double-sided tape that came with them made installation a breeze.
We didn't want to screw anything into our freshly painted deck, so we used the double-sided tape that came with it. We're going to put Command strip on a couple of them because they've fallen. br>The lights themselves are bright and pleasant to look at. So far, we've been very pleased with them.
Even though I have solar lights in the garden against the back fence, my backyard was dimly lit. Particularly dark were the side yards. At night, I didn't want those areas to be completely dark. These lights are ideal--they're not too bright, but they're bright enough to allow you to see. A light output of 60 lumens is just right. They're simple to put up, and I only use them on the fence sections that aren't in use. They perform admirably. I awoke at 5 a. m. the other day. 15 and went outside to see if they were still turned on! This equates to approximately 9 hours of light. Excellent value for money. Strongly suggested.
