This arrived quickly and was a perfect fit for my 223L. Simply unscrew the three screws that hold the pull cord assembly in place, which I replaced last year, and use a screwdriver to jam the cooling fan. The bolt is then removed in the opposite direction, and the new pawl has two spring-loaded plastic arms rather than one. (I wish these arms were made of metal, because the first one would have lasted longer and received 5 stars. ) This should last longer than the original, which lasted about 4 years of all-day use one day a week during the commercial season. The bolt is welded to the frame, and it's all one piece. I wore out toro weedeaters in a single season because the lower shaft gears failed and they wouldn't start. Husqvarna is a two-stroke engine that produces a lot of power. After four years, there have been three pulls.
This Husqvarna 223L gas line trimmer has been in my possession for several years and has proven to be reliable on our Texas ranch. Parts wear out or break, just like anything else mechanical, and the starter pawl assembly recently broke. The original only had one plastic pawl, but this replacement part, like the newer machines, has two of them. When you pulled the rope on mine, it did not engage the pawl and crank the piston, despite the fact that it appeared to be in good working order. It took about 5 minutes to install this new piece, and it is now operational.
I bought this to replace a broken part; it fits, but one of the plastic parts in it slips past the center bolt, requiring me to disassemble it twice - I use it on a regular basis.
They aren't very long-lasting. This is "alright. " They simply do not last. I don't have this problem with my Echo or Stihl machines, which I use three times per season at the very least. Those brands' pull starters are *significantly* better built. I was hoping that the Husqvarna version would outlast the generic versions. Unfortunately, the exact opposite is true.

It was a simple task to replace it. The one on the left has plastic stubs/springs that are missing. I expect a long life from this and will update the post at a later date. br>br>The replacement part is shown on the right. br>br>.
It is simple to put together. It was exactly what I needed to replace my broken one, took only a few minutes to swap out, and the weed-eater functioned perfectly. Right away, the eater got going.
Product was exactly as described and performed as expected; I would purchase it again if the need arises.
