It is certainly not light. It is difficult for a 150Lb person to use it because of its weight. The timber jack I used for rolling logs came in very handy and I have used it to jack up trees. It is impossible for a human to bend or break the aluminum design because it is very strong and I am not sure anyone could ever bend it. My effort to research the tool before buying it made it one of the few tools I really invested a great deal of time in. In any case, I am no lumberjack, but I could have got one for half the cost. For a change I really wanted the most useful tool. There are several tools that look like this made in China, but I was not going to purchase them since they are made in the United States and in the state where I live. You don't need any tools to change the configuration, by the way. A variety of this is available that would be well suited as a replacement, but this unit offers the most options! The shipping was excellent, and I received it early as well.
Stihl retailers are having such difficulty finding them (most employees look confused when I ask if they have the cant hook), and after numerous frustrating trips to find one, I broke down and turned to Amazon for an equivalent (certain items like this I prefer to grab at a branch). When I found this cant hook, it was quite beefy and tough, which is just what I needed since I usually cut up trees with a diameter of 2 feet or more. I was impressed with the quality of this cant hook as soon as I received it. As for the hook itself, it has deep, thick teeth that rival those on the Stihl cant hook and is safe for use on tough-barked trees. It makes the log even more stable, and therefore safer, to cut because of the jack stand on it. In addition, the stand has a retractable peavy and the jack can be easily removed for changing it. It has a handle that does not dig into the ground once the log is propped up on the stand. This machine is quite heavy and on its first use I was able to cut and roll a 30" log. It is only a small complaint I have that I wish the handle was longer so you can get more leverage, but in the end, this is a high quality product that is worth the price. The manufacturing is done in the USA, and there are no foreign knockoffs There's no power. This is a highly recommended read!.
The more I use it, the more uses I find for it Designed and made the I would say yes, it does work as designed to help lift logs off the ground, thereby minimizing damage to your chainsaw chain from hitting At a jobsite, I used it as a portable sawbuck by putting it down on the ground with the hook open, and then sawing up smaller logs and limbs as I put them on it. One of the larger trees laying flat on the ground required a tow chain for me to pick it up or I could roll it on top of the tow chain so I could drag it to my work A "Woodchuck" foot measures 10", and 7", meaning it has a relatively narrow width, one of its largest areas. That reduces the incidence of the cutting chain damaging metal on the foot. It is a very good quality tool made in the United States. Despite the fact that there are knock offs available, I would still.
First off, I want to point out that this device isn't truly flawless There could be a more comfortable way for me to grip the teeth on their own without shoveling my boot down to ensure it holds. That however is a problem only with 'logs' that are small enough that they do not need this device. (To a point, anyway) The bigger the log, the easier it is to work with. It gives me the opportunity to cut up wood without breaking my back into a million pieces or using a chainsaw to plow the ground. The instructions for assembly were somewhat unclear, but I managed without the wife's assistance (who had helped out with- Wouldn't you have thought so? My thanks for bringing it to me) and I'm quite happy about The price I paid for it on Amazon was the best bang for my buck at the time. The 'weekend logger' routine should certainly be used more than a couple times each year by people who do it regularly. Even so, this is not all.
A well designed product, right here in the United States of America. The very best of both worlds. This will be an absolute game changer, since my chain will never again touch the dirt! Although the instructions on the paper can be a bit better, it's so easy for details on YouTube that you won't make a mistake. The rest of the presentation is great!.
As I have been cutting down more and larger trees, I find it easier to roll or drag it with this method than cutting it and throwing it in Keeping a log underneath what you are cutting is not necessary, but keeping each branch in place will maximize the effectiveness. You just need to stab, roll, cut, and roll out, then move another 5 to 10 feet.
I am really impressed with how well this tool was built. A few 30" logs were no problem for me to roll. Despite the availability of lighter alternatives, all of them bend or break after a period of You don't get what you pay for with this one, but you get what you pay for in other cases. The item makes an excellent stand for cutting up logs, and there is an option to change it into a cant pole with spikes.
With this tool, you can quickly change configurations without tools without having to search for the right setting. The easy-to-use and well-built design is right on the mark.
