What is the best way to attach the bottom tray to the feeder?

The top clips go into the slots on the bottom, and you gently slide it over to lock it in place. There's only one way to put it together.

I received this bird feeder, and when I tried to clean it by disassembling it, it would not reassemble. Not easy?

I'd recommend returning it and getting a new one. If you're talking about the four prongs/locks on the base, yes, they can be a pain to work with. I never open mine again after locking it because I'm afraid they'll break. To clean, I'd recommend squirting water through the roof hole and down into the foundation.

I like the yellow/green john deere colors, and the houses are built to last. I have the schoolhouse. easy-to-clean blue cottage Fill with seed, but you'll need a bird feeder scoop, believe me when I say you'll have seed all over the place if you don't. I really like my NORTH STATES VILLAGE COLLECTION bird feeders, and I'd like to get the church next.
