Questions & Answers
For me, this device performed a miracle: In 17 feet of water, a watch was discovered - BUT - It only alerts you when you're within four miles of your destination. It's a 6" long lost object whose main claim to fame is that it's submersible.
Both are things I use. br>The Rico seems to be a little more sensitive to me.br>The Rico has a row of indicator lights versus the Ortek's single multicolor. br>The rico lights appeal to me more. br>The only benefit of the otek is that it is waterproof to a depth of 10 meters. br>The Rico is water resistant up to about 4 inches. br>On the beach, Rico is a no-no. br>When I first got mine, I took it to the beach and splashed it. br>It was killed. br>About the Rico, I have nothing but praise. I removed the battery and left it open overnight when I got home after splashing. br>I installed the battery the next day, and it worked perfectly. It's a tricky pinpointer, to say the least. br>It requires more retuning than the Otek. br>br>If I'm hunting on dry ground, I'll go with the Rico.br>If I'm hunting on the beach, I'll go with the Otek. The answer is yes if the sprinkler heads are made of metal. I installed plastic sprinkler heads to ensure that they work properly and last as long as possible. No, it won't detect them if that's what you've got.
It isn't possible! After reading this post, I decided to go with the Dr. Otek over other options, believing that I had finally discovered a way to find bird shot in carcasses. I put it to the test as soon as it arrived, using lead (7) and steel (3) shot in a 1/2" deep hole in some left-over wood. in place of chicken I got a reading right away and thought I had found the answer to my prayers - I was, however, completely incorrect. The detector is extremely sensitive, picking up electrical wires beneath the surface or nails in the tops of table legs, but it failed to detect my bird shot. When the detector was placed in the open, it detected three steel shots when they were within one centimeter of each other. Only when it came into contact with the lead shot did it register. I know it's a lot to ask, but after reading this post, I was feeling optimistic; now you know, and I'm returning the unit.

I own a high-end metal detector, not one of the low-cost models sold at Walmart or other discount retailers. I'd been looking at the $130 pinpoints for a while. 00 range. This one caught my eye because of the operating depth, which is approximately 35 feet. I decided to give it a shot, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well it works. Turn it on while pointing it away from anything metallic, then wait 3 seconds for it to calibrate before using it. It is capable of quickly locating any metal object. It doesn't beep or light up, but it vibrates and vibrates. If the signal is weak, it will turn red; if you are close, it will turn green; and if the signal is strong, it will turn blue. While using it, I discovered my first nugget, which was quite exciting!.
In salt water, it erupts out of control. In fresh water, it was not used. It has to be almost touching the item to detect it; I buried a coin in the sand and it didn't detect it, but it was very waterproof. Because of the positive reviews, I was extremely excited, but it turned out to be a complete waste of money for us. I'm coming back.
I ordered a different pin pointer, but it was not waterproof when it arrived, so I didn't finish my homework. I went back to Amazon and found this one, read the reviews, and was pleased with the majority of them being positive. The shipping was quick, and the product arrived in a nice box with the battery and holster inside, as well as a real instruction booklet, which was nice, as all of the others I'd ordered or seen had no box and no real instructions. I did my first test in the soil, and it worked great, as did my second test in salt water sand, which worked even better. I took it into the surf, about 2 to 3 feet deep in salt water, and it worked better than I expected. Within 3 minutes, I found a silver earring. I tested it for over two hours in a 12-foot deep pool with no issues. The Led is bright enough to see on sunny days at the beach, and the vibration is great under the water. I like that it doesn't have a speaker, which always alerted everyone around me when I found something on the old one I had. I'll be buying a second one as a backup and for my son to use so he won't destroy mine; he loves it even more than the one he has now. I hope this information is useful in your search for one; you won't be disappointed if you do a lot of water searches like we do.
From gum wrappers to 22 shells! Really sped up my detection time!br>I recently purchased a metal detector and assumed it would be simple to set up. I found some pocket change and a lugnut using the pinpoint feature on my detector, but it took a long time and I was digging massive holes in the yard! After getting the Dr. Otek pinpointer, I was able to recover objects much more quickly; the manual explains how it works and what to do, so read it and practice with different metals before going out. br>br>Includes: br>br> br>br>Pros: 9v battery, manual, warranty information, wrist strap, and a few other cardsbr>br>Cons: br>Greatly improved object detection timebr>Sensitivebr>Easy to usebr>br>br>Cons: br>It doesn't beep, but it can go underwater, so I'm okay with it, and the vibration feature is great. To summarize, if you're like me and did a lot of research on different brands before buying and were a little confused, this pinpointer does work and is legitimate. Don't feel obligated to purchase additional items just because you feel obligated to! After using this pinpointer, I'd like to try the Dr. Otek detector!.
My pinpointed was delivered to me today. I put in the included battery (a big plus), and I turned it on and off a few times to figure out how to turn it on and off. Then I put it on my wedding ring to see how it worked. I have not yet tested the waterproof abilities of this pin pointer, but I did notice that when the battery is inserted, the cap does have an o-ring. Once the cap is screwed down past the o-ring, it does provide some resistance. ring. The detector is a little bigger than I expected, but it fits in my hands nicely. When I take the pin pointer outside to use it, I will update this review. So far, I'm happy with this item. br>br>UPDATE: br>br>I finally got a chance to use the pin pointer, and it's amazing. It pulses as you get closer to the object and vibrates steadily when you are directly over it; so far, all I've found with it is trash, but I'm still hoping to find something extraordinary.
Running through thick brush and weeds, my dog misplaced her dog tags. I followed in her footsteps and discovered one tag, but not her rabies or name tag. I decided to give it a shot to see if I could find the other tags because it was so inexpensive. I marked the location where I found the first tag, and when this arrived, I was eager to try it out and see if I could find the other tags. I wish I could say I was able to locate them, but I was unable to do so. It wasn't that the detector didn't work; it was just that there was too much ground to cover in order to find what I needed. Trying to find a needle in a haystack is akin to searching for a needle in a haystack. However, it performed admirably for the purpose for which it was created. My dog tags were not among the metal "things" I discovered. It was incredibly simple to set up and use; all you had to do was plug in the battery and turn it on. It came with a nice "holster" to carry it in, as well as a good, easy-to-read instruction manual. What it did find for me were items that were so small and hidden in thick weeds and grasses that I would never have noticed them if it hadn't been for this detector. I'm sure it would have picked up those tags if they had been in the area I was looking. I'm glad I bought it, and I'm sure there will be other applications for it. I would highly recommend this pin point metal detector to anyone looking to go on a treasure hunt or locate a lost item.
