Questions & Answers

Is it feasible to use it to water plants?

It's perfect for watering plants, in my opinion. My yard is about 3/4 acre, and I have landscape plants all over it. I use these to water the entire yard by hand, and they work great. I turn it all the way up for things like trees that are 10 or more feet away, then turn it down to a spray for shrubs and perennials that are only a couple feet away. Fine-tuning the spray for each plant is simple. Using a fine spray on brand new plants with leaves close to the ground can help prevent leaves from becoming stuck to the ground and rotting unless they are shaken loose.

Is it possible to set this nozzle to completely shut off the water flow while the faucet is still turned on?

Without a doubt. Simply reverse the nozzle's direction of rotation when not in use. even if the tap is turned on, until it stops turning and the water flow stops.

Is it true that this nozzle contains "lead," as some of the reviews claim?

Hi John,
Most brass has some lead in it usually around 2%, lead helps with the brass manufacturing process of brass manufacturing process of brass manufacturing process of% So, in my opinion, it most likely contains a small amount. I don't drink the water from my hose, and I only use it for hosing down my siding, washing cars, and even filling the holding tank on my RV. I don't drink the water from my RV holding tank. Remember how lead pipes were used for water lines in houses, schools, and other buildings many years ago? This is the best water nozzle I've ever owned, and I've had quite a few over the years. I'm 59 years old. This nozzle comes highly recommended because of its durability and wide range of spray patterns. You'll come into contact with a million times more lead if you go fishing or shooting guns than if you use this nozzle. My only criticism of this nozzle is that the rubber washer is defective; the first step should be to replace the washer, as the one that came with it is leaking. On a scale of one to ten, everything else is a fail. This is unquestionably a ten. br>I believe that the dangers of smoking or secondhand smoke outweigh the risk of lead in this nozzle. Best of luck in making your choice.

What is the part number for the O-ring replacement? The shaft has a ring on it. (not to be confused with the hose washer)?

If you call Dramm, they will be able to assist you.

Solid construction with only two parts and three seals, and a low-cost washer provided
4/5

Solid construction with only two parts and three seals, and a low-cost washer provided. You buy something like this because you're tired of your 'pistol grip' sprayers breaking. This style makes use of two o-shaped o-shaped o-shaped o- 1 standard hose-end ring (replaceable) a washer (which is also replaceable). A front cap, a piston, a front seal, a front seal seat, a spring, a rear seal, a rear adjuster screw, and the pistol body itself are all used in the pistol sprayers. 9–13 parts are likely to fail. br>br>The Dramm is made up of only five parts and three seals. br>br>NOTE: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to be The hose washer that comes with the kit is made of VINYL rather than rubber. Replace it with a genuine rubber washer and throw it away. Dramm should do this, but they don't, which is why the game only gets four stars. If you've had it with planned obsolescence, this is the book for you. With this Dram dealio, pay a little more and get a lot more.

O rings are in short supply
4/5

With one exception, this is an excellent nozzle. It offers a variety of discharge patterns, ranging from very focused to broad and gentle. The best part is that there is almost no resistance to water flow. The solid brass construction appears to be sturdy and long-lasting. However, the nozzle has been rendered unusable twice due to a small internal O ring failure. My response was to go out and purchase a hundred water bottles. McMaster-Carr offers replacement neoprene O rings that are resistant to wear and tear. Carr (94115K011) and replace the internal O ring as needed. The bag was only $3, which is a small price to pay to keep a good water nozzle in working order.

This is a product that was made in the United States. Right on the hose's end, there's a stamp. br>br>I bought this to replace a Home Depot Gilmour nozzle (yes, the one with the black plastic rubber around the nozzle and the hose connection) that had broken in half and then fused to the aluminum male hose end (it was about 3-inches long). (I am four years old). br>br>Hopefully, this will go on for a long time. br>br>Also, in regards to the lead-in brass - There is the California State warning, but please keep in mind that most brass, including plumbing fixtures, manufactured prior to 2010 contained some lead - Under the old rules, this was allowed because the small amount of lead lowers the melting point of the brass, making it easier to machine. br>br>Anyway, I found a pdf document from dtsc. ca. The following is a link to a page on the federal government's website that explains everything:
- Furthermore, starting January 1, 2010, state law prohibits the introduction into commerce of any pipe, pipe or plumbing fitting, or fixture intended to convey or dispense water for human consumption that is not "lead free" as defined by statute. (Wellness) Saf. 116875, subd. 1 of the Code of Federal Regulations (b), as of January 1, 2010, as provided in SB 1334, Stat. 2008, c. 580 )br>For a full description of the lead-based paint, go to http://www. lead-based-paint. com/. If you have any plumbing requirements, you should look into the laws mentioned above. What is the maximum amount of lead that can be found in plumbing products? Before January 1, 2010, the following was the maximum allowable lead content in "lead free" pipes, pipe or plumbing fittings, fixtures, solder, or flux: In solder and flux, there is 2% lead. In pipes and pipe fittings, there is an average of 8% lead content. Plumbing fittings and fixtures contain up to 4% lead by dry weight. br>Beginning January 1, 2010, the maximum allowable lead content in "lead-generators" in "lead-generators" in "lead-generators" will be The following are examples of "free" pipes, pipe or plumbing fittings, fixtures, solder, or flux used to convey or dispense water for human consumption via drinking or cooking:
0. In solder and flux, there is 2% lead.
0. According to a weighted average, there is 25% lead on wetted surfaces of pipes, pipe fittings, plumbing fittings, and fixtures.

It works perfectly, just like some of the ones I used as a kid 40 years ago when this was the standard method of manufacture
5/5

This is something I really enjoy. I was fed up with the plastic garbage we were using, which always died after a season. The only disadvantage I've encountered is one that has been reported by other users. Dirt can get caught in the threads connecting the nozzle's outer and inner parts, causing it to seize. This is a design issue rather than a quality issue. If you drop this type of nozzle on the ground and it becomes covered in dirt, the dirt will gradually work its way into the threads. This isn't something I consider a disadvantage; it's just something to keep in mind. If you notice it becoming gritty as you open and close it, simply open it all the way until it passes the O ring and water begins to flow back through the threads. In a matter of seconds, it will flush out all of the dirt and grit, and it will be as good as new. br>We've been using it for an hour or more every day for the past month or two and can say it's a good quality product that doesn't harm living on the end of the hose in the sun and weather in our yard garden area where it's used every day.

Wow! I KNOW it's just a simple little hose nozzle, but this thing is almost like a work of art! It's so well machined, EXTRA HEAVY duty, and it's even made in the USA! Keep It Simple, Stupid (KISS) products are my favorite - they're so easy to use
5/5

It's impossible to break them, they're simple and straightforward to use, and they're likely to last a lifetime. I can't think of a way to hurt or destroy one without smashing it with a sledge hammer. You may need to replace the rubber o-ring every ten years or so. That's all there is to it. I strongly advise you to purchase this one if you require one. It will not be a mistake.
