Questions & Answers
The fortified label on Volkman fruit and nut goodies is missing. We've been feeding a Caique this diet for the past 8 years, and it only contains fruits and nuts.
I don't have the bag anymore, so I can't tell you what was in it. All of it is dried fruit and nuts that I mix in with my parrots' pellets.
This is for my Sun conure, whose beak is about the same size as a cockatiel's. Although I had to break up some of the pieces, my conure seemed to enjoy it.
For my blue and gold macaw, I bought this. This is much too big for your bird.

However. I've been buying this for a long time and it's usually excellent. This batch, on the other hand, appears to be sweepings from the floors. It's just a jumble of small pieces that haven't been well combined. This bag has a flaw in it, and I'm hesitant to use it. I'm disappointed that they don't have a better quality control system in place! Gross!.
My parrot, on the other hand, thinks it's delicious! This mix is a hit with my Caique! It did, however, have a peculiar odor when I first opened it. When I was in undergrad, I worked at a pet store for a few years and remember that smell from filling the bird food bins, the kind where you can measure out your own amount and pay by the pound. It smells as if the fruit has gone semi-rotten. I'm not sure if it's because I was left out or what, but it's a bit of an overabundance. super-ripe The scent is pleasant. It smelled much better after I took it out of the bag and placed it in a plastic container in the fridge. Idk. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but when it comes to birds, you have to be extremely cautious about feeding them bad food! As a result, the only reason this gets three stars is because of that.
These ingredients are enjoyed by both of them, but I don't give them as much as they would like because the sugars are too high for birds. I've placed four or five orders, and one thing I've noticed is that the consistency of the ingredients could be improved. I remove a lot of nuts from some bags because I try to keep their diet as healthy as possible. My Senegal is 23 years old, and my Timneh is 18 years old, so I chose the fruit over the nuts, despite the fact that one of my avian vets does not recommend fruit or nuts for health reasons. I believe I do a good job of choosing healthy foods for them, and they seem to enjoy their small treats.
These fruits are chopped into smaller pieces (about 1/4 inch cubes) and served alongside the traditional winter fare. Chickadees, nutcrackers, and woodpeckers are all quick to take them.
Of course, I'm the one who prepares his meals. He eats people's food that has been prepared by him. Almost all of what I eat ends up in his stomach. I have parrot food that I soak and he gets fresh fruit and vegetables. Some of the bags contain a wide variety of seeds, while others contain items he never touches. My blue and gold parrot is now in his 30s and has complete control over his surroundings.
I have a Congo African Grey and a Severe Macaw, and I like to supplement their diet with extra treats, which this provides. Some of the fruit (especially apricots) are true to size, but dried, and thus a bit too large for my birds, so I cut them up to make them more palatable and easy to enjoy. Most of the ingredients in this food are probably best left alone for larger birds, but it's still a good selection for my birds, and I'm not opposed to putting in a little extra effort to make it right. For the content quality, this is unquestionably a good price.
I tried it because she was on the Volkman Eclectus diet when I brought her home, and I stuck to it. The Volkman products are well-made and diverse, and the Featherglow Fruit and Nut Goodies are a welcome addition to her menu.
Personally, I've used the product and it's fantastic! For over ten years, I've been buying these. I incorporate it into my own unique blend. Birds, on the other hand, continue to pick and eat the fruit. This stuff is extremely popular with them. I use it for a variety of birds ranging in size from lovebirds to a large Amazon. It was previously used for a macaw, and he enjoyed it as well! For small to large birds, this is fantastic!.
