For storage, I have the original box, but no indication of where it came from.
It all depends on the type of soil you have. Peralite has been added in large quantities to improve water flow. You might want to buy one at a time to see how many you'll need, then buy more if necessary. Mine are about a foot apart for the most part.
While I was out of town, I used mine for several months. I don't see why they couldn't be used indefinitely. The pot must be large enough to accommodate the spike as well as the wine bottle. They perform admirably.

My only concern when planning a month-long road trip was the safety of my plants. I have a number of large indoor plants in which I have spent a significant amount of money and cared for for over two years. Because I live in San Diego, the air is naturally dry, and most of my indoor house plants are native to the area. The Terracotta spikes were stronger than expected, but one of them broke due to my error in trying to reposition it after it had been buried. Prior to my vacation, I conducted an experiment in which I filled a wine bottle halfway with water and placed two spikes in two different plants for one week. Because the pots were different sizes and one pot had to be saturated first, the water usage varied between the plants; I recommend that anyone going away for more than a week conduct their own experiment to see how much water drainage occurs. After saturating the soil, I assessed the situation and placed 12 Terracotta spikes into various plants, along with full wine bottles. After 5 weeks, I returned with all of the bottles empty but all of the plants in good health. I would strongly advise anyone traveling to use this product.
The shipping was quick, and the product arrived in perfect condition. There were no cracks or chips. My firsthand knowledge: I bought these because I was going on a 10-day trip and knew my tropical plants wouldn't survive. I live in Texas, where the heat is already unbearable (the trip will take place from late May to early June 2020). Before leaving, I watered my plants as usual and used some recycled glass Topo Chicko bottles to insert these spikes, which worked perfectly. As you can see from the picture, I returned to a happy bedroom jungle. I'm going to get some plastic wine bottles this week because they're bigger and lighter than glass. I also intend to use these throughout the week, as the heat in Texas is no joke! I wore them with my Monstera, Rubber, Mint, and Fiddle Leaf Pants, in case anyone is interested. I would strongly suggest it.
These watering spikes can be found in both container and garden plants. Glass beer and wine bottles are what I use. The two sizes are interchangeable. I bought two sets and accidentally broke one, but none of the spikes arrived broken or broke when I put them in the flower bed or container, which was my fault. They're beautifully packed, with styrofoam supporting each spike. Even though it's 110 degrees outside and there's no humidity, my plants are still alive.
In my patio collection, I have some new, expensive plants. I was gone for two days the last time I went away. 50% died. I've tried a few different water globes in the past and none of them have worked. It absorbed into the skin in less than 5 minutes and served no purpose. The terracatta is a fantastic material. I didn't even bother to put any bottles on it. Instead, I simply poured water into the reservoir to see whether it worked or not. It gradually drank throughout the day. It sucked up water from 10am to 6pm and 20% and and and and and and and and and and and and and The planters had already been watered the previous day. The day of the test is a scorching 90 degrees Fahrenheit with bright sunshine. When I go on vacation again, I can't wait for them to take care of my plants. I'm going to buy another six packs because this works so well.
It's best not to be too rough with the terra cotta spikes. Before inserting the seed, make sure the soil is moist. Any soda bottle will fit in this.
Give this a shot if you're prone to forgetfulness. This particular set is one that I've purchased several times.
town. I sprayed them with wine bottles full of water, and when I returned four days later, the soil was nice and moist (with no casualties). Because the spikes are so bulky, I don't see how they could be used in small houseplant pots.
I was hoping that by using these watering spikes, I'd be able to leave my plants unattended for longer periods of time, reducing the chances of them wilting when I forget to water them. What I discovered is that the water I put in the supply bottles evaporates too quickly, and the bottles are empty after a few days. The soil will be damp all of the time, and there will be some excess water in the trays beneath the plants. They'd probably work better if the bottles were corked so that the water could only drip through a small hole.
