PVC is used to make these.
I believe they could be used outside, and I intend to give them a try this summer. They're quite durable. They appeal to me greatly.

The bottom of the dishes is narrower. The measurement given isn't the same as the size of the pot that will fit (a pot with a 6" bottom will not fit in the 6" dish), but that's to be expected. These are a little more durable than the cheap ones I buy at the supermarket. Even so, I wouldn't pick them up one-by-one. If they're filled with water, they'll be handed to you. It must be supported on both sides or it will buckle and spill - or, at the very least, the major ones will. Overall, it was the best deal I could find on Amazon.
These are exactly what I needed to keep my plants from destroying my paint job. However, after receiving them, I realized that the plastic clamshells in which salad mixes are packaged are nearly identical and work just as well, if not better.
The product appears to be long lasting. Because of the intended use, durability isn't a major factor. They do a good job of keeping their shape. It will be used outside and in direct sunlight. We'll have to wait and see what happens. They have ridges on the bottom that allow water to drain. I used a substantial (30 lb. ) weight. On a scale of one to ten, I'd rate this pot as "excellent. " The saucer did not leak despite being heavy enough to crush the ridges. For what you get, it's a bit pricey. There was a similar item for about half the price somewhere else, but there were supply issues, so there were no real alternatives. It's possible that supply is being affected by the season or the pandemic. In a few months, the price may drop. The cost of one or two packages will not break the bank. Right now, I'm a happy customer.
Plastic that is too thin is a no-no. Plates that were expected to be a little thicker. Plastic that is too thin is brittle. In order to use the plates normally, three plates had to be glued together.
These aren't any better than the ones you can get at your neighborhood big box store. I had anticipated a much thicker, more durable plastic. I'm coming back.
I don't think these plates are very sturdy. In previous years, I purchased several from a local nursery, and they do not compare favorably to these. The good news is that the water is being held in place. And it was for this reason that I bought it. However, I'm not sure I'll buy any more. Because I won't be able to access this for more than a couple of weeks, I left durability out.
These are a less expensive alternative to what you can find in big box stores. There are two types available at Home Depot and Lowes: These aren't the studier ones, which is fine for what I'm using them for (house plants that don't get moved around often), but they do have a thicker plastic version and a thinner, more flexible version for a cheaper price.
This was all I needed to protect my wood furniture after watering my indoor plants, and it does the job perfectly. Because they will only be used as a pot holder, they don't need to be particularly sturdy. The various sizes and the number of items included in the order are examples of this. I'm satisfied with the outcome overall.
