I'm not sure, but it seems to work for bees and other flying insects that can fit through the hole.
I let it hang until it was so full that it looked like it was about to burst at the seams. However, I am not fond of the stench of 40,000 dead, rotting flies, so it is thrown away. When you put a new one out, it smells good, but when it's full of rotting dead ones, it smells 1,000 times worse. They'll even lay eggs on their deceased companions, resulting in maggots in your home. I rotate my days every 30 days or so.
We've caught some pretty big blowflies/carrion flies in ours, so I'm not sure if it's designed for that size. Check it out if you haven't already. Please keep in mind that the "BIG" in "big bag" only refers to the size of the bag for this particular product.
I throw away my bag after seven days.

snare them It certainly did that, as well as attracting what appeared to be every fly in town! In one day, the bag was over an inch thick with flies, and I couldn't get near it to get rid of it because flies were swarming all over it. on it! I finally had to fight my way through the massive swarm after three days to put it in a garbage bag and throw it away because there were way more flies around than when I bought it! I was on the verge of throwing up while bagging it to dispose of it because it had at least 5 inches of flies in it! Don't get me wrong, the bag is effective, but I only wanted to deal with flies in my yard, not the entire neighborhood! Oh, and just the smell is enough to make you vomit!.
Excellent product! These fly traps are fantastic! I only use rescue traps to catch flies. br>br>Purchasers should be aware of the following: 1) If you purchase this item, please hang it high enough so that dogs and other animals cannot jump up and pull it down. If you thought removing skunk odor was difficult, wait until you try this. WEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW 2) Don't be like my husband and leave it out until January, even though your nagging wife has been pleading with you to get rid of it since October, because it will freeze and then bust open when it hits the tree it's in. Your nagging wife becomes your "I told you so" wife as your dog wallers in it. That's not what you want.
This summer, the flies have hatched in force, and I can't keep up with cleaning up after my dog fast enough to keep them away. My neighbor has three dogs, and they don't clean up their mess from the back yard; as a result, the flies have hatched in force, and I can't keep up with cleaning up after my dog fast enough to keep them away. I've had this trap hanging on my back fence for ten days, and it's already had an impact; I have no way of knowing how many people have been caught, but it's in the thousands. The plastic bag is 10 inches tall to give you a sense of scale. A 2 inch tall black band can be seen near the top of the water line in the photo. A solid mass of drowned flies makes up this band. Imagine how many flies you could fit into a ziploc sandwich bag, and that's about how many flies I have after ten days. I'm no longer able to open my back door without the assistance of two people. The house is invaded by three flies. br>br>Make sure it's hung away from any doors or windows you want to open. It has a strong odor and attracts flies. I've seen the hanging strips, and while they're great for catching a dozen or so flies at a time, this is the way to go if you want to get rid of hundreds of thousands of them.
These fly bags are very attractive to me. They're simple to set up and catch a lot of flies in my barn. With so many horses, they can quickly fill up, so keep an eye on the water level, but they do a good job of keeping flies out of the barn and away from the stalls. The only thing I wish the manufacturer would do is design a way to seal them when they're taken down so that dead flies and old nasty water don't spill into trash cans. It would be simple and a big improvement if you could snap the door shut securely.
We hung the bag after carefully following all of the instructions. With so much water inside, the zip tie we used could no longer hold it together for more than a day. The bag's upper tie snapped, spilling the contents all over our front porch. For a week, the smell of dead fish and flesh kept a swarm of flies busy on our front porch. On the first day, we used Pinesol, then bleach on the second day, and then cleaned the front porch every day for a week. I had to burn candles while also pouring gallons of air fresheners and scented oils. It was a torturous experience. Other products, which use less offensive ingredients and are more effective at trapping or repelling flies, are available.
They exterminate the fly population at the landfill convenience center so that flies do not contaminate the food for the feral cat colony they manage. It was well worth the money.
- Wow! br>br>Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wo I used the wire from a dry cleaning pants hanger to hang two bags (removing the thin cardboard tube in the process). Easy! br>br>It appears that about 30,000 fish will be caught per bag in a couple of weeks. The flies were getting into the feeding station of the small managed feral cat colony, so I hung them up at the landfill convenience center. Despite the heaps of trash, there was never a rodent to be seen, and the fly problem has now been greatly reduced. br>br>I'll be buying these traps on a regular basis for a long time. Bonus: It's disgusting, but it's incredibly effective. I wasn't expecting it to smell as bad as it did.
It's been very hot in Washington the last couple of days, and I live near a lake; the horse flies have been horrible, getting inside every time I open the door to let the dogs out, then terrorizing the dogs until I can kill the flies. I got this the other day, followed the instructions, and hung it in my backyard from a tree near my dog's poop area. It had at least 100 flys in it two hours later, with only a few under the patio overhang by the door; There are no flies near the patio door today; It smells like dead fish, but not overpoweringly so, so if I needed to, I could move it closer to the patio, but it's working great where it is.
