These are effective against adult fungus gnats, but they will not solve the problem by themselves. Because the larvae have already been laid in the soil, you'll have a new crop of adults in a few days. To kill the larvae, water your houseplants with a peroxide water mixture, then cover the soil with a thick layer of sand. The larvae will suffocate, and future eggs will be unable to develop in the sand, so keep using the sticky traps until all of the adults have died.
My seedlings are being attacked by gnats. br>br>Nailed the soil with Neem oil, but it didn't work. They expressed gratitude for the seasoning that I had provided. I tried the hydrogen peroxide trick, but there was still some movement in the soil, so much for "kills on contact. " I tried the sticky note trick with rubber cement and Vaseline. They thanked me for the cool bench and flew away as I stood there watching them land on it. B*stards! I tried to dry out the plants, but they didn't seem to like it. Gnats are unconcerned about the plants that have irritated them. br>br>I went out and bought 12 of them, then walked away for about 15 minutes. It will take 20 minutes. When I returned, I was taken aback. They'd caught 58 flies by this point. Oh, it's on! br>br>Oh, it's on! WHERE ARE THEY NOW LAUGHING?.
I got these and some sticky tack from Dollar Tree and used the sticky tack to stick them behind the cat's dishes, the trash can, the sink, the microwave, and other places where gnats like to hang out in the summer. Since then, I haven't seen a single fly! They're two-year-old twins, so it's only natural that they I simply fold the paper in half and place it on the back of the wall-facing side. I can simply flip them over and use the other side when they become too full.
However, these were discovered! They're meant to stick into potted plants, but my gnats don't hang out there. I needed to distribute them throughout my kitchen in a strategic manner. I've got five of them set up, and they're all getting clogged up with those nasty little critters. (It's a true infestation. ) They are sticky on both sides, but there is a protective cover that peels off, allowing you to use only one side if necessary (I taped one to the wall and used a magnet on the fridge, so I covered one side). The cover comes off easily on some, but it sticks on others. The bright yellow is supposed to attract them, but they don't flock to it right away. It takes a few hours to draw them all in, but it's effective. Patience! This product comes highly recommended!.
I'm not going to include a photo because I think it's gross to show a photo of gnats stuck to sticky paper, even if it does demonstrate its effectiveness. ) I have about five of these in my living room to catch the creepy crawlies that have taken up residence in my house this season. I decided not to wait because the situation had never been this bad. I'd seen these stickies before and had immediately ordered them when I became aware of the invasion. Every single one I've thrown out is covered in critters. It works, and I am grateful for that. There are still a few in the air. I haven't tried these outside, so I can't comment on how well they work, and I'm afraid that important helpers (like bees, lady bugs, and hornets/wasps) might get stuck on it, which would be bad. As a result, I'll only use them indoors.
A rotting tomato gave me fruit flies in the kitchen. The fruit flies were still present after I threw out the tomato. These traps are only effective if they are baited. Fruit flies aren't attracted to the traps because they're not attractive. So I bought a very ripe banana, split it in half, peeled it, and stored the peel and banana in two pint jars. I stuck the banana in two of the traps and set them on the kitchen counter several feet apart. br> Because the trap was large enough, it did not fall into the jar. I had most of my fruit flies within 4 hours, keeping in mind that fruit flies have a breeding cycle. You may need to keep your traps up for several weeks, depending on the length of your infestation. Before buying these, I tried apple cider vinegar and didn't catch anything. Yes, a few glasses of wine, but nothing beats a rotten banana!.
Gnats are a real problem if you live in a humid area. Throughout the year, they are enamored with houseplants. round. The gnat problem in my sunroom had gotten out of hand, so I purchased these. I'd tried all of the "home remedies" for dishes, such as using cider vinegar, dish soap, and sugar; The fancy "fruit fly" traps, for example. Nothing seemed to work. These traps arrived less than a week ago, and I immediately placed them in about a third of my plant pots. There hasn't been a single gnat in sight; They've all become entrapped in the traps.
If you lay them flat or lean them against an object, fruit flies don't seem to land on them; they need to be vertical and free-standing. standing. I was about to throw these away when I tried sandwiching one between two bananas vertically. It had caught 12 flies in just a few hours! If they're laid flat against a wall, they'll catch crawling bugs, but flies require them to be vertical. br>br>I'm taking a star off because I only got 23 out of a total of 24 in the package.
