My bag of tube sand managed to fit in mine with a lot of jostling, but it all worked out in the end.
The one I have has not been opened I plan to fill it in time for the winter when I empties it at Harpswell, Maine, but I think water is a good idea if you plan to empty it in the summer. As for water overwintering outdoors, sand would be a better choice if you have to do it that way.
Although it is only the end of the mosquito season here in Virginia, I don't think so, although I have had my Elite Umbrella Base since last fall. There is no reason why mosquitoes can breed in the water in the umbrella base since the water chamber is separate from the umbrella tube. As long as you keep the pill plug in place, mosquitoes cannot get to the water. There is no catch for water that drips between the umbrella pole and the holder tube it runs to the ground instead.
You can remove the insert if you wish. It is simply a matter of pulling You must glue it in place in order for it to be permanently attached.

I am disappointed. As the "tube" would not go down to the bottom of the base, it wouldn't stand up right. As if there was a 'lip' in the plastic, it was stopping it from working. As I first looked at it I wasn't sure if it should go all the way down since the "instructions" were literally one picture of all the parts just kinda "going together. ". I have no idea what the website is for or what the product is. My pick-up was like a garage sale find. Update In the interior, two plastic pieces were fused together in an imperfect manner this created a "lip. ". The kitchen knife came in handy to shave it down and I was able to assemble it properly. I'm enjoying using the base and am satisfied with how it works It gets a '3' but it's because I am sick to death of companies making my life more difficult because there is nothing they will do to spend any more money. A decent set of instructions begins with paragraph 1.
What a wonderful umbrella base! I'm really impressed w/the quality. It is very sturdy and strong. 3.
I want my patio umbrella to be kept 1. 2. 3. It is a very nice design and shape. You might want to consider this umbrella base if you want to place your umbrella on it!.
A market umbrella with a 1' diameter can be held upright and steady without the need for a table or other support. I have mine on a 10' diameter with 1' pole. The diameter of this aluminum pole is 5". So far, there is no concern that it will be knocked over by a wind gust. If the umbrella is deployed, the possibility might exist, but thus far, it seems to be safe. It's crucial that I remember to collapse the umbrella if I know it's going to be blowing hard. It is impossible for the umbrella to tip over once it has been folded and tied.
Can you justify the purchase of a heavy metal umbrella stand that is difficult to move and could stain the pool/patio? There is a tube added for holding the umbrella shaft at the top of the stand which passes through the reservoir, and a flange secured to the bottom. During the winter, the unit can be easily disassembled and stored. In pushing and pulling with the shaft of the umbrella, I have not pushed or pulled it. Plastic is used as the reservoir material. In this regard I am more inclined to remove the umbrella and drain the reservoir before moving the stand, rather than sliding it around with the umbrella attached. An Amazon purchase of a low teak table is a great match for this reservoir.
In a recent wind storm, the old umbrella stand we had detached, so we bought a replacement. . The new one is easier to move than the old one (it's very light until it's filled with water and set on its base), but it has already tipped over when a strong gust of wind hit it. In fact, it weighs about 50 pounds after it has been filled with water. In strong winds, it is susceptible to tipping over because it is top heavy with a big umbrella. You do need to add weight to the mix, as stated in other reviews. On the base, I'm just going to add a few bags of sand for extra weight. If the water added to the bottom of the stand is removed, this stand will still work with some extra weight added to it and is still easily moved.
The base is slightly rounded on the bottom -- it looks like a ball The boat tips just a little and rocks a little Consequently, while it is nice and heavy, the rocking helps tip the entire umbrella over in just a small breeze. With this useless base, I have broken two umbrellas in less than a year. May be it is meant only to be used as a patio table base? It was freestanding when we used it. There is an emphasis on the word "were".
My new patio umbrella was attached after the container was filled to the brim with water. My patio umbrella was closed on the first windy day, and it got blown down about 40 feet to the other end of the The wall was the only reason for stopping. Now that my umbrella is ruined, I don't know what to do. Many thanks for your help
[[Update]] Sand is the only way to make this more stable, but the hole is so small that adding sand was very time consuming. Furthermore, you would never be able to get the sand out, since the hole is so small. A design that looks bad on the whole.
So that it would be slick, I even put olive oil on it. It took about 8 attempts for it to pop It is not as tall as I expected, but it has still been set up and is functional. It feels rugged, so it should last for several years to come.
