Questions & Answers

What if I have vinyl siding on my home?

The door is big enough to fit over the door of a If it is an older trailer, it is best to think aluminum or vinyl!

When it snows and ices, how well do these hold up?

My husband had a pole that had a groove on the end so that he would be safe. During the winter snow and ice, he placed it at the front end of the car. I don't know how it would be without it, but he figured he'd rather be safe than sorry with it installed.

The installation of this system on brick houses is possible?

As I installed it on a wooden wall, but from the way it is built and how sturdy it is, I would say yes, provided that the red heads (bolts) used for brick or cement are the correct ones. Still, the product is of very high quality. It is my pleasure to help.

In the event of a hurricane, can the cover be removed?

Screws hold it in place so that it would have to come down if you wanted to replace it.

The exact thing I was looking for
5/5

There is no eaves protection on my windows either on either end of the house, so every time it rains at night I have to get out of bed, turn on the window fan, close the window and then dry everything out. It is not comfortable during the night when it is warm, and we prefer the As we installed this awning yesterday, our unusually warm October night ended with a downpour at 3AM, which was just on time. As I remained in bed and went back to sleep, not a single drop of water slipped It's going to rain tonight and be 50-degrees, so the forecast is perfect The wind was 60 miles per hour I will be back to rate this five stars if it passes that test.
Here are a couple of tips for installation A great way to help assemble it quickly and easily was to spray WD-40 on the top and bottom of the unit A bracket with a center hole was easily inserted into the panel edges after 40 was glued along the edges. suggest installing on masonry, but I find that laying 3" lag screws (using a socket wrench is the only way you can use these, not a screwdriver) after reinforcing the window frame trim make them pretty durable. Because of my physical limitations, I needed a ladder, so I screwed the awning with one screw into the upper left bracket, giving it some room to Even after moving the ladder to the other side, I was still able to grab and attach the right bracket, then move the ladder again to finish the first side. It was a bit awkward for one person installation, but overall it was very doable. It is possible. Please see addendum It is 5 out of 5 stars for me While last night's rainstorm wasn't as windy as predicted, it did rain a lot and there were some noises from strong gusts, but the awning held up. The windowsill largely remained dry except for a few drops of water blown by the wind on either side. I rate this a 5 out of 5 because I have no reason to give it a lower rating. *Adding paragraph There were gusts of wind over 60 mph in Tropical Storm Juan two nights ago. One of the panels had been removed when that amount was applied. This product is not advertised to withstand that kind of weather, so it is not surprising. My goal is to reinforce it with silicone sealant along each side. I took it down, put it back together, and now it's ready for install. 5 stars is the rating I'm going with.

The vinyl siding is mounted
4/5

Before I mounted it on the wall, it was flimsy, but once it was mounted, it became pretty sturdy. It will be interesting to see how it performs in Michigan's winds and snow. For the mounting of the vinyl siding on the four-foot wall, I made my own mounting blocks. Take a look at the pictures.

Once installed, it proves to be surprisingly sturdy
5/5

I love how lightweight it is and how simple it is to assemble. The weight of the device is only about 3 pounds. Putting it together will result in a very thin and flimsy piece of metal. My first thought was that it would be returned. In spite of that, though, it is surprisingly secure once it is mounted to the home. Despite this, I waited to give it a thorough review until after a few good storms. In terms of durability, it has been very good. When it is raining and you are trying to make your way in, it's great to be covered.

Do not use the same mounting bolts on concrete and wooden surfaces! A little bit wider slots can be added to the TOP Frame
5/5

An awning of great quality. It's a pain in two different ways, #1 The bolts provided are wedge-shaped These CONCRETE bolts are used in construction. The product is not suitable for installation in brick and mortar. You will need 3/8" Brick and Mortar bolts. Go to Lowes, HD, or ACE and get them. The ABS brackets need to have the insides of the mounting brackets shaved where the top aluminium end fits into the The slot in the molded slot is too small so the bracket cannot be installed. My next step was to use the 1/2" Wood chisel to gently shave the slot larger so that the bracket fit perfectly in the slot and makes the frame Tip #3 I used a flexible and waterproof CLEAR drying DAP adhesive/putty/caulking compound inside the end frame slots where the sheet was inserted into Carbon panels are installed in this area. There is no way for the panel to come loose of the ends frames when the putty has 'cured'. As solid as a brick - It's like home! I have added stars to my changes.

This attractive and sturdy awning will enhance your outdoor living experience
5/5

I am satisfied with the performance of this awning. As soon as you assemble it, you'll be surprised by how sturdy it is. When I joined the two panels, I also used some clear silicone to make the connection an even stronger one. As I put it together myself, it was a bit challenging. I spent about 90 minutes on it. Although it may seem flimsy at first, it becomes quite sturdy once all of the pieces are attached. The unit was easy to assemble and install once assembled All four screws are the same. As you install it, you will need one person to hold it while it is put in place. Thanks to its light weight, it's relatively easy to carry. I decided to buy 4 stainless screws since I was putting them in an old wood frame. As the frame is thicker at the top, you will need longer screws for the top 2 holes. One inch is the size of the two screws at the bottom. The tower has been up for quite some time now and has just survived a nasty thunderstorm with wind gusts of 75 mph. One slight problem is that rain storms can result in debris getting trapped inside the recessed hollow chambers of the two clear panels. The problem isn't a deal breaker, but it's a small inconvenience. In general, the awning does what it is supposed to The doorway should be kept free of water.

As soon as mounted, this is a sturdy door
5/5

It is a nice addition to the area over the front door in my home. In spite of wind gusts in excess of 35mph, today the roof has been held onto by the house without any sign of splitting. A two-person operation is definitely required for installation. Perhaps one person could do it, but it would take more time to install and probably require a lot of fumbling. You'd be better off if you snag a friend and get it done as quickly as possible. Despite high winds, it seems to be holding up quite well. Our other day, when we got about a foot of snow, it sagged a little from the weight, but otherwise it wasn't an issue. The weight of the snow was removed by tapping the snow from underneath. The snow here is usually very dry, so a little tapping from underside worked. Over door protection from rain and weather elements such as falling ice and drips from the roof is provided by this very good solution. In the near future, when I save up the money to install one over my front door, I will order another one to replace this one. Although my dog is unable to express her satisfaction, I do believe this allows her to exit through pet doors more easily because she can avoid ice and snow on the doorway. The habit of sitting inside with her head outside to monitor her territory has made it easier for her to do that once she no longer has to worry about getting drenched. We love it both, so we do it together.
