Putting this together proved to be the most challenging and discouraging. In addition to using the video provided by Amazon, which helped us with the assembly, we also used the written instructions which were uninformative. Also, we were able to find instructions online which guided us in installing it to the wall of our house. It would also be helpful to know the weight of various items. This could help in getting needed technical assistance. It does not make sense to install on the house wall according to the measurements given, and the instructions are incorrect.

We received a barrel with an oblong shaft on both sides of it at the end which the crank gear attaches to, but it should have had a square shaft. Unlike the crank gear, this won't fit into the worm As long as you drill the appropriate holes, it will work.

Think twice. A child wrote the directions, but he had no interest in seeing this product put together easily and not a lot of comprehension of the English language as well. My book referred to bolts as screws, gave no information about the size of the parts or the tools required, had poor diagrams, and several screws, bolts, and the like were missing, which required multiple trips to Home Depot for replacements. Amazon is a company I have ordered many products from and have been satisfied with them all.

Starting with the poorly translated instructions, previous reviews pointed out the issue. In this case, they were right. It takes a good deal of study of the drawings and a detailed understanding of the written instructions to put it all In truth, it's not as hard as you might think, but it takes practice to do it correctly. As soon as the paper was together and hung on the house, the bulk of the problem began. There was obviously a problem with one of the tension arms when the awning was rolled out all the way one side of the awning extended properly while the other side seemed to be not as long. It resulted in an uneven cover and a loose appearance. To force the tension arms into their fully extended position, I decided to make a spreader bar to be attached between the tension arms. As soon as the awning is installed, the slack is rolled up, and it is tight.

An awning that looks nice. This is a well-made device that is strong and sturdy. Even though the instructions that come with the product are terrible (total waste of time), assembling the product is relatively simple.

One of the main parts of the device is completely crushed after taking it out of the box.
