You can use it in the rain. Right before it rained, I installed it and it worked well.
Those brackets are plastic, not metal, but I assure you they can take a lot of abuse. I bought one a few years ago and it is still holding up after eight seasons, four hot summers, and several wind storms and has never failed to hold up.

A little small.
There were three that I bought, but only one was put up. Trying to see if I can keep up with the wind with the one I put up. Quite a few of the weak spots, which can be seen in the image below, had some Gorilla Glue applied.
I found it very easy to install.
Assembling and installing requires two people. While it was quite fragile to put it together, once it was all put together it was surprisingly sturdy. The length of the 120inch mattress we bought was 120 inches. It would have been helpful to have a third set of hands when hanging, but with just two of us, we managed. A big storm is on the way, and I'm anxious to see how it holds up.
This was intended to go over a front door, but the brackets were too close together for it to work. Overhead door will be used for one third of the route. Apart from the screws and bolts, everything is made of plastic. Previously, I had never seen these bolts so I asked the supplier for information. We were told to refer to the instructions that came with the awning, but the bolt information wasn't there. An internet search found this Bolts and screws that hold sleeves together To attach an awning to a wall, you need to use screws. The assembly is quite difficult for the average person.
It seems sturdy it has been up for a month and is still standing. I would recommend you put some sealant on the ends of the corrugated cover since moisture will condense into the hollows and because it's clear, you can see it. I don't think it will leak, but it may wick moisture into the hollows.
Currently, our side alley needs to have some shade and to shelter storage racks, so we purchased the 120" (3 panels). Although the plastic brackets are relatively rigid and strong, the panels and the supporting sleeves are extremely flimsy and fragile. It is a chore to mount the canopy once the pieces are assembled and the pieces often fall off. I agree with others in that you need at least two people to hold the panels up when the width is 120". In addition, the warping of the panels was challenging to manage. now have it up and am applying Flex seal to cracks. I broke a panel, had to tape it up with gorilla tape, and have to tape up another panel. Additionally, you will need to caulk around the edge of the wall because there will be a large 0 off of the edges. The gap should be 5". A set of anchor sleeves is included with the kit and is meant for bricks or If you are using stucco screws, use stucco screws and anchors If you plan on drilling pilot holes, invest in a hammer drill. It will save you quite a bit of time! In view of the overall look, I rate it a 3 out of 5. I will not recommend this canopy to anyone unless their need is for a narrow one-panel canopy or two-panel canopy. The only reason I gave 3 stars was because of the low cost.
It came with mounting bolts, but I disliked them as a mounting accessory for my mounting situation. This is not to say that they will not be able to assist As it turned out, I had to drill two more holes on each side and then attach the frame to the wall above the doorway of my poll building with outdoor deck screws. This awning is a little flimsy, but if you use all the screws it comes with to assemble it, along with a sturdy wall to mount it to, it should last for a few years.
