I couldn't decide whether I wanted real wood or this fake wood. Would it appear to be a flimsy plastic item? Is it going to be a real pain? I can't comment on how easy it was to put together because I hired someone to do it for me during the Amazon checkout process (which worked out fantastically). For it, you'll need to purchase the chain links at the top- Other reviews can be found here. br>br>What do I think after all of this research? Love it. I find it very comfortable (even without a cushion) and don't have any problems with the back of it pressing into my back (as some reviews claimed). My husband and I are both 5'8" and 6'4", and neither of us, nor our children, have any issues. It looks fantastic (not quite as good as wood, but close enough that I won't have to keep painting it). This item is extremely durable. It is displayed on the front porch of our 1905 house. We enjoy using it on a daily basis. (Would I have been any less pleased with my second-place selection? Probably not, so don't sweat it:.
I was hesitant to order this swing on Amazon because it was so expensive, but everything worked out perfectly; it arrived on time and in good condition. The packaging wasn't great, but nothing was broken, and everything worked as it should have. The hooks/swivels that go into the beams above, however, had to be purchased separately (Swing Hook Kit). (They weren't mentioned in any of the advertisements. ) ) The hardware is all heavy-duty, which is an advantage. Some people have complained about the holes not matching up, but this should not be an issue if you follow the instructions and wait until everything is put together before tightening anything. That was not a problem for us. We really like the swing and hope it lasts as long as it says it will.
The unit is simple to put together. Screws and bolts lined up perfectly in all of the holes. Simply assemble all fasteners in a shoddy manner first, then tighten them all up. A metal stiffener runs the length of the back and under the seat. The poly lumber appears to be made of wood grain. Cleaning is a breeze. Unlike the thin swing chains found in stores, the hanging chains are heavy duty. Just one nice product. br>br>I'd build a swing myself if I could get a small quantity of poly lumber. Because I couldn't find a supplier, I purchased this swing, and I'm very happy with it. It's a little on the pricey side, but it'll pay off in the long run.
While Highwood had a nice glossy and more realistic wood look, it felt more like hard plastic (as if it were a hard plastic toy). When pressure was applied to the material, it felt brittle and creaked and cracked. When examined closely, Polywood appears to have a waxy finish, but the material's sturdiness gives it the appearance of lasting a lifetime; this stuff is heavy and dense. Metal reinforcement was also added to the backrest and seat area due to the way the swing was built or overbuilt. This isn't available in Highwood. I've heard that putting together Polywood products can be difficult. Is this true? The instructions state that the screws should not be fully tightened until the entire assembly is complete. If you do that, everything will fall into place perfectly, which is exactly what you want. I've finished two Polywood rocking chairs, an end table, and now this swing. There were no issues at all.
I was very happy with how the swing turned out once it was assembled and hung. Using the pictures as a guide, it was a little difficult to comprehend the instructions that came with it. It would have been helpful to have some written notes in addition to the photographs. There were no missing or damaged parts. All of the hardware that came with it was of excellent quality. When it rains, I simply wipe the beaded-up spots away with a towel. Without a cushion, it is quite comfortable. My purchase of a white swing has made me very happy. It has the appearance of wood, but without the hassle of having to refinish it.
It's a lovely swing that I placed under my carport. It has a LOT of weight to it! Despite the fact that it is plastic wood, I enjoy the feel of it. I'm confident that this will last longer than regular pine wood. The assembly is simple. It took a lot of effort to hang it because it was so HEAVY! I went with the recommended spring kit. Because this is a HEAVY swing, make sure it's in the stud!.
I did have an issue with two holes not lining up on one of the armrests, but I contacted the company, and they replaced that part as well as the other armrest under warranty, and shipped the new parts to me overnight. The swing, as well as the chains that came with it, looks great and feels very sturdy. I put it together myself, so it is doable, but it would have been easier with some assistance.
In light of the bench's overall cost, the product's quality control is poor. One of the holes was drilled incorrectly, so I had to clamp it down and drill a new one. Other minor cosmetic issues, such as plastic shavings that were not removed, should be addressed. br>br>Also, make sure you purchase a separate mounting kit with swivels and springs to ensure a smooth and comfortable swing. Overall, I would suggest this. br>br> and hope the manufacturer reads this and sees what's up with their quality control protocols, so one star was taken away.
