Questions & Answers

The nipples are at the bottom of the coop, would the chickens be able to drink from them if placed against the chicken wire?

The one inside the chicken wire run belongs to me. My chickens were used to the nipples being at a height that was comfortable for them. I started out by placing it on the ground but ended up placing it on a cinder block as well. The idea you proposed might work well if you raise it above the level of ordinary people.

Will a deicer (with regards to the water) also prevent the external wet nipples from freezing if used to keep the water from ?

An internal heater cord can be run through a hole in the lid of the waterer. My guess is that nipples do not freeze if the water inside stays above freezing.

What is the maximum number of chickens this is ?

The number of chickens and these waterers I have is 32. The system appears to be working well so far, as no one has been fighting or standing in line.

Can you tell me what the cord I need is This is my first time buying one, so I do not want to make a mistake! ?

In a cold climate, you will need to purchase your own heater if the cord is the In order to purchase the heater you need, you can go to Amazon or any farm store and find one that works with plastic

Selected User Reviews For OverEZ Automatic Chicken Waterer with No Spill System, Outside and Inside Poultry Drinker, Large 12 Gallon High Capacity Drinking Bottle Dispenser for Hens

Although challenging in the beginning, I believe that it will be very rewarding in the long run
4/5

My backyard chickens have been begging me to find a better alternative for watering them. It was also important to me for the helper to be able to relieve some of the strain if I had to have help with the birds due to being out of town. Although it had mixed reviews and was quite expensive, I still decided to give it a try. One of the first things you notice when it's full is how heavy it is. Make sure it is where you want it before attempting to move the furniture. Second, it took me about a week, but I found out (or think) it was too low for the birds so I put it up on two bricks to make their nipples more in line Probably higher than that (could still be a little lower). it has not been easy to train them on this. It's hard to pick up the large birds because they're not tame or easy to handle. I have 9 birds of different ages and sizes. The dogs would not pay attention to the waterer at all (nor would any of them). It used to be that at night, they would go to their coop. Every bird would have to be picked up one by one and taken to the waterer one by one so that I could show them the nipple with their head and beak over and over again. I don't have to say anything more. It made them very angry for me to do this and make them unhappy. It was time-consuming for me, and I knew I was going to have to fight nine birds for it, so that was stressful as well. For the past two days I have taken away all other options for them to get water. There was no doubt in my mind that they were very thirsty. I felt badly because of it. It is still impossible to convince them to Last but not least, they were around the waterer for a couple of days and I started pushing the nipples with my fingers, letting the water drain out from them. As the chickens ran toward it, they went crazy. As I demonstrated over and over again that they should drink from their nipple instead of from the ground (which is what they were doing), this process took quite a while. A few of the participants finally attempted to get water out of their nipples, but they failed. In order to do this, their beaks must be just the right angle. On day two, we have reached the end of the week. Compared to the prior version, the current version appears to be I again let the water flow from my finger, causing the birds to take off. There seems to be a slow pace of picking up, and they seem to be taking awhile to become satisfied with it. They don't get enough water, as if they're thirsty. There's a good chance this is going to improve day after day and they will become more skilled at getting the water out. As a result, if you are patient and have a lot of time, this could be very rewarding. Those who haven't tried it will love it. I appreciate how easily the carpet can be cleaned when necessary. Be aware that you will need to teach your birds how to use the device which I found very hands on. In the long run, though, I think this will be great once they are all fully trained and comfortable. I am amending Earlier today, I wrote a review for this publication. Nevertheless, he looked inside for a sense of how much was drank to try and gauge how much had been consumed. Only one week have gone by since I bought this. In addition to the vinegar, I also put salt in. See how much mold there is. I'm supposed to do this for a month, then? I don't understand what's going on! It was P. It has been on my mind for a long time. This helped the mold wear away. I moved the place out of the direct sun so the mold may have gotten worn down. I have it farther up in the bushes (which means the sun definitely hits it during the day), but I haven't noticed any I am happy that all the birds understand how to use the device. As a result, I still supplement with a standard water station despite my better judgement. I believe they drink "more water" from standard water stations and they appear to stay hydrated for longer. Nonetheless, I see them drinking from this one as well, which is good to see if anything should happen to the other stations. It's likely that my birds would still be okay even if I were to remove the other stations. The fact that they have what they need in ample abundance is all that matters to me. This product would be a good buy for me. You need to take care of your birds, especially if you have an abundance of them. If you had a chance to read it, I think you would find it helpful. Adding a new baby to the group, I was surprised to find she learned by herself. Watching others may have given us an idea. Thanks to the fact that I did not have to do it, I was able to enjoy my trip! An update has been made to the star rating since the mold issue was.

Waterer that does a great job! The chicken coop has been improved with this amazing addition! The I raised my Welsummer chicks in an open dish waterer and was concerned that they might have a difficult time learning how to use the In spite of this, when we transferred them to a new run and demonstrated the nipples to 'em, they took to it almost immediately

A clean water source is so much better than one that is open. On that same photo, you can see in the upper corner of the water container that a small hole was drilled to insert the drip line from an existing irrigation timer, and that an adjustable drip emitter sits at the end of the line inside the water Using this method, I can adjust the OverEZ waterer's rate of automatic refilling depending on where I am in the country The water my chickens use in relation to their health. Thanks for this product! I am delighted with it!.

I would go out and buy 2 of these right away

What a IMAGINE!! I have 3 watering containers to make sure my last one is filled. Ships made from wood and straw could not be found Water is clean and free from feces. Afterward, I filled the container with 12 gallons of water and added a cup of apple cider. The first chicken I got to see it worked caught on. Once one gets it, the rest of the flock follows suit. This chicken mama is glad to have her babies.

When using these products in hot weather, exercise extreme caution
4/5

This waterer was purchased with the goal of freeing up the hours of replacing and cleaning the 5 gallon gravity waterer and making the chickens safer if I were to leave town on The only caution I would give to a buyer is to be very cautious. As a resident of a hot region of California, I have to endure a lot of heat You can use misters, shade cover clothes, ice treats, etc. I transitioned the chickens to this waterer, and they took to it right away. It took removing other sources of water for them to finally accept it (no luck with other training methods), so I must say that it Water bottles specifically designed for this purpose will result in the consumer either drinking less or drinking more often in order to make up for it. There might be times when a less dominant chicken doesn't get the appropriate amount of time at the waterer. This happened to one of my chickens, and her remains were found left unidentified before I realized what had happened. Two of my concerns with the design of this waterer are both design-related. A gap on the top (designed for water-- There were hundreds of pincher bugs floating in the water. There were no issues with bugs, mildew, or smelly water after the foam was pinched in the gap. I find it very helpful. People may not know how to add foam to the gap so the company should provide an extra lid without a gap if they don't have the knowledge. However, the second concern lies with the rate of flow to the nipple waterer once it reaches about 1/4 of the way from the There are a couple drops in the pace. Those chickens must have had a hard time getting enough water to drink. It is extremely important that you offer alternative sources of water to your horse if your pets live in a hot climate and you do not replace the nip with the cup, especially if the waterer is not half In the summer months, this waterer runs the risk of cracking, and it's not the most durable or convenient.

Until now, this product has been the best
5/5

The process saves a significant amount of time. It is also very clean. When you've worked with chickens, even for a short period of time, you'll know what a dirty job they're doing. A waterer never had a better product than this one.

There are leaks
3/5

There is a leak in this product. As far as we were concerned, the whole purpose of the product was to keep the We had to move the coop twice before it flooded and then we took it to the dump. Spending a lot of money on a waste of time and energy. Within the return period of 30 days, we completed the construction of our chicken coop.

Getting mold inside is a problem
3/5

Can you tell me if I am filling out this form In our chicken water, I put apple cider vinegar, but I believe it is black mold if it starts to form after a week or a few days. Despite loving the product, we are disappointed to see this happen.

It isn't worth the effort
3/5

No matter how many times we show them, 15 chickens of various breeds still refuse to drink out of it. The cost is really high, so that is very disappointing.
