For my 03, this is an exact match.
Yes, it'll fit in your 2004 Ram.
This is just a connector, no more. It has a standard wire connection point as well as additional wires for connecting to a breaking controller. It is not possible to "transform" a four-wire connector into a seven-wire connector. A path to a trailer break controller is required for the three additional wires.
Not sure. I've found that calling the dealer and getting the dealer part number for what you're looking for is the best way to find it, followed by a google search for that part number. At the very least, get the dealer part number and cross-reference it with the one you're considering. I hope this has been of assistance.

I was able to determine that the old factory socket was busted internally and doing strange things after replacing it with this socket. It was also loose and did not remain attached to the trailer. Highly recommended, perfect plug-and-play, well-constructed OEM part.
Plug and Play replacement. My old truck's door or dust cover was broken, so I ordered this to replace it. It was an exact replacement when it arrived, easy to install (4 screws) and the wiring harness was a plug-in harness, not spliced or hardwired, simply unplugged from the old one and plugged into the new one, took about 5 minutes to replace, very happy.
Simply plug in this OEM Chrysler brand, which is far superior to a generic brand. There is no need to splice or cut wires.
It's great, it's an OEM item, and it replaced my old one perfectly.
The original trailer connector had been crushed when I purchased a 1999 Dodge Durango to tow a small camp trailer. This was a perfect match and a breeze to put together. As stated in the advertisement.
It was simple to install and works perfectly. This was a breeze to put together and it solved my lighting problem. Excellent craftsmanship.
My tow car had no lights and I had a 39-foot RV. The 7-way switch was found to be defective. This is something I bought on Amazon and put on myself. It really works.
It doesn't surprise me in the least. This was supposed to be a replacement for one that was broken on a vehicle we bought, but it's already broken.
