When my boat trailer's hardwired trailer lights failed, I tried to use the emergency magnetic trailer lights that I always have with me. It had a 20-foot wiring harness, which was a bummer. I was able to connect my emergency lights to my chevy van with the help of two of these extensions and get on my way. (Way better than crimping and butt splicing six sets of trailer wires on the side of the highway. ) ) P S For some reason, the big auto stores only have 1 F or 1 M plugs, but not this trailer wire combo with one end M and one end F. Purchase two of these as a favor to yourself.

Extension cable is very nice

For trailer hookup, a well-made extension cable is required. When it's not hooked up, I keep it mated to the trailer and use the cover on the end to protect it.
