Questions & Answers

Is a clear plastic sprayer going to be stained?

I mixed the solution in a gallon plastic milk bottle, then poured it into my milk white semi-transparent plastic container. sprayer with a clear appearance There were no more blue marks on either of them.

Will this product leave a stain on the cement?

That is not the case. At my house, it washed away with a few rains.

What makes this different from food coloring?

I'm not sure if there's a distinction, but this stuff is extremely concentrated. Even at this concentration, the color isn't very vibrant when mixed into 1 1/2 gallons of spray. It is sufficient to see where you sprayed and where you did not spray. The small bottles of food coloring were ineffective. It might work if you could get a large quantity of food coloring for a lower price.

Is it possible to use this in conjunction with BT? I bought a herbicide bottle, and there's so much of it that I'm wondering if it'll work for applying bt as well. ?

I haven't decided yet. I can't think of any liquid that wouldn't work.

A landscape marker's Shroedinger Cat
4/5

I'll explain why this is both the best and worst marking product I've ever used. First and foremost, I think the product is excellent for what it is intended to do. I have no complaints about spraying weeds in rocks in a desert environment. I have no trouble seeing what was sprayed and what wasn't depending on how much is used (and really, very little is needed in a one to two gallon sprayer). It will fade out over the course of a few days to a week, or even sooner if it rains. That makes me very happy. br>br>Now for the bad news. This stuff ends up in all kinds of places. Expect it to end up all over the place unless you're mixing it in a Class 1000 clean room with gloves and a full hazmat suit. One errant drop has found its way into nearby plastic bins, the garage floor, and other areas, and it's sneaky. It will lay dormant in the dryness for months until an unwitting bare hand or sweaty foot comes into contact with it, and then BAM! It has taken off and is running around the house. I'm about to declare my home a federal superfund site, have it condemned, burn it down, and start all over again. It would be more convenient than trying to track it down in all of its various locations. This information is likely used by the FBI to track down money laundering and drug trafficking rings. br>br>In conclusion, the product performs admirably for the purpose for which it was designed. Feel free to smear a little on your significant other's shoes, wallet, or purse if you're in a suspicious relationship. You'll be able to track them down no matter where they go! Enjoy.

It is ineffective to waste money and time
3/5

After receiving it a few weeks ago, I put it to use last night. I followed the instructions to the letter and even shook the container to ensure that nothing had settled. I made a couple of passes after putting the recommended amount per measurements and such on the bottle in my pull behind sprayer, and noticed I couldn't see where I had made my previous pass with my mower and sprayer. I was spraying and noticed that blue was coming out, and that if I didn't move, it would spray a blue line where the spray came out, but that if you moved, it wouldn't be visible, no matter how slowly you went. I decided to try adding the rest of the bottle (which was almost full, over halfway) to my sprayer tank after I finished filling that tank. I made a few more passes and still couldn't find it on the grass. This was a complete waste of time and money, and I would strongly discourage anyone from doing it.

I purchased this product because I have been systematically treating invasive Wisteria that has found its way into my home's wooded back yard
4/5

Wisteria grows quickly and spreads like a virus, making it difficult to keep track of what has been chemically treated and what has not, especially when dealing with a large area. br>br>This product worked, but it was a pain to use. It took a lot of effort to get the product into my pump sprayer without it dripping down the bottle's side. When I was cleaning up the mess, it even soaked through my gloves. It took several washes and scrubbing to get it off. The wet blue solution stood out against the dark green leaves of the Wisteria during application, but after it had dried for a few minutes, it was sometimes difficult to tell what had been treated without a close inspection. br>br>Overall, the product did a good job of fulfilling my expectations. I'll just be more cautious when applying it on my next treatment, and I'll probably use more of it to ensure that it stands out against the dark green foliage.

Just ok
3/5

I had high hopes for this product because I'd never used blue marker spray for weed control before, and I wanted to target only the wild violet in my lawn without overspray. I used the recommended amount along with my other chemicals, but I didn't notice much of a difference in color when spraying it. Nothing that stood out as I sprayed it, at least not unless you looked closely. I stained my hands and work gloves more than the weeds, but they came out after a couple of washes. It's possible that it didn't stand out because of my darker lawn, but I'm not sure. If you can actually see it in your lawn, I would say it's a good product for the price, but I couldn't, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Excellent value for money; goes far beyond what the instructions claim
5/5

Although it appears to be costly for such a disposable item, I'm glad I bought it. I mixed it at half strength after the second tank and it was just as effective. By the fifth tank I was mixing it up 1/4 strength and was still visible so It will stain your hands, clothes, sidewalk, hoses, and anything else it comes into contact with, so be careful. Also, the applicator could be a little better; rather than pouring straight from the bottle, a tapered nozzle or tube of some sort would be nice, but I'm not complaining:.

On dormant Bermuda, it's fantastic
5/5

My sprayer is a Master Mfg. 26 gallon sprayer. Attachment to the boom To apply the pre-treatment, I used 16 gallons of water, Prodiamine, and half of a bottle of this blue spray marker. Late February saw the emergence of my Bermuda lawn. The blue marker was easy to see because the grass was dormant, so I didn't miss any spots. If you applied it to green grass, I can see how people would have a hard time seeing it. Pre-treatment is something I usually do. The marker is also emergent in the early fall, but because the grass is still green at that time, I'm not sure it would be as effective as it is in the spring. Because the marker is so difficult to remove, I saw several people suggest wearing gloves to avoid getting it on your hands. Instead of using the boom, I have to spray some areas of my yard with a wand. While I was applying the pre-treatment, my wand sprayer began to leak. I had the marker all over my hands because it was a last-minute emergency. After I finished spraying, I decided to try removing it with something more powerful. For garage floors, I used mineral spirits first, followed by concrete cleaner. It didn't make a difference in either case. I went inside to wash away the harsh solutions and used Dawn dish soap and warm water to remove the marker. Anyway, when it comes to treating dormant Bermuda lawns, I can recommend this blue spray marker.
