Thank you for your inquiry. The primary difference is that they all perform best at different water temperatures. The original microbe lift falls somewhere in the middle. Customers rant and rave about using seasonal products at our physical storefront, but I personally don't see much of a difference (then again, we're in Ohio). Our seasons shift on a weekly basis). Sludge away is a product designed to reduce the amount of organic debris that settles at the pond's bottom. Fish waste and decaying organic debris produce ammonia, nitrates, and other toxins in the water, which the PL product is designed to remove.

After fourteen hours, all of my lovely 17-year-old Koi had died. br>We raised these fish from infancy, cared for them, and believed we were doing the right thing by putting this "beneficial bacteria" in our pond during the summer months. It is not a chemical, and it is completely safe for humans, animals, fish, and plants, according to the label. This has never happened with any other product we've used in our 25 years of keeping Koi. We used to use Barley Straw Bales, but the heat was causing us to get more algae. Microbe Lift 1- was used as a result. Microbes in a Quart Pond With devastating results, PL 10PLQ has been lifted! br>We have four aerators and a good pond pump. THIS PRODUCT SHOULD NOT BE USED ON LIVE FISH!.
I wasn't expecting it to work out so well. In my pond, I've been scraping algae for a week and haven't had much luck. Maybe I should have included this. What was it like an hour ago? And there's already a ton of algae on the surface! br>We had a very mild winter, and the pond pump was turned off the entire time, so it was a bit of a challenge! br> (Only drawback. . ) Fresh hell is the scent of this product. I mean, it's GROSS, but they address that in the product's phamplet. )br>I bought it because it was pet-friendly, and I have three dogs who enjoy drinking from the pond. br>I'll buy it again in a heartbeat!.
The "Autumn/Winter" version is also one that I use. This one helps to clear out algae blooms and wakes up the pond in the spring. If you follow the instructions, your pond(s) will be crystal clear, and your fish and plants will be happy. Because the Microbe Lift solution has a peculiar odor, it tends to linger in your shed or garage after you open the bottle. Something had died in the garage, and the dog kept going out to find out what it was. Despite the strange odor, I'm very pleased with the product. In addition, at my local garden center, this item costs three times as much as it does on Amazon.
I set up an extra large filter box with lava rocks for the bacteria to hide in, but I knew it would take a while to build up the good bacteria, so I purchased this to expedite the process. I expected to see some results in about a month, based on other reviews. I installed it on Monday, and my pea soup green pool is almost completely clear now that it's Saturday. Now I can see all of the sludge that has accumulated on the bottom, whereas I couldn't see much to scoop dead leaves before! Yay! Lol. After a long camping trip and a lot of beans, this stuff might smell like your best friend, but it sure works! Just make sure there's plenty of material for the bacteria to hide in, and it'll take care of your algae problem in no time.
Because my usual bacteria was out of stock, I felt comfortable using this product, even though I knew it had an unpleasant odor. br>br>The bacteria takes a long time to complete their task. After a month, the water is only mostly clear. br>br>However, there's an odor! It wasn't until I realized it was the pond that I realized a dog had dropped a package. It took a few weeks for the bug to go away.
Hopefully, you now see how important beneficial bacteria are in maintaining a healthy aquatic ecosystem. These bacteria must be present in order for your water to remain clear and your fish to survive. Every winter, I have to drain and power wash a 5 foot deep pond that gets clogged with leaves and debris. So, every fall, I take my fish out of the pond and put them in indoor aquariums, as well as removing the pond pump. In the spring, after refilling the pond, I inoculate it with Microbe Lift PL to get things started right, and I repeat that application whenever I notice the beginnings of the typical algae bloom, which Microbe Lift PL stops dead in its tracks. Microbe Lift PL is also added to the aquariums where I overwinter the fish to help establish beneficial bacteria. It stinks for a short time after you add it, but the odor indicates that you're using an active/live product, and it quickly fades. It's really good!.
I decided to give it a shot, and it turned out to be fantastic! br>It cleaned up my pond faster than any other beneficial bacteria. I even used it to cycle a new 500 gallon tank, and I was able to immediately add a large number of koi with no issues with nitrates or ammonia. From now on, I'm pretty sure I'll be using this exclusively.
The first time I used it, the weather was hot, and nothing untoward, or even positive, occurred. The weather turned cold shortly after, and each time I added it, the fountain quickly turned black. Is there a time limit on how long it can be used for?.
