Questions & Answers

Does this work on the seams that are coming loose from the pool's bottom?

I'm afraid I didn't use it as a pool. I used it to repair a yard vac bag, and it's held up much better than I expected, even after a lot of use.

Which side, slick or slightly rough, do you lay down? It's the last piece I have, so I'll have to get a new patch kit. What makes you the best at what you do?

I used a vinyl pool repair kit; make sure the adhesive is applied to the patch; both sides of the vinyl were smooth; ours was under water, so fold it upon itself until you reach the area to be patched; then open and place the patch. Hold the button down for a few moments. This year's event is still going on. PS: I'd apply adhesive to the rough side.

In mil units, how thick is the material?

Whatever it is, it is thin in comparison to my vynil liner; it works, but it is difficult to work with; the material curls up the moment you apply adhesive to it; if you are using it above the waterline, I recommend applying adhesive to the liner first, then positioning the patch.

Will this work to patch up a tear in the top blue ring?

I believe so, as long as the glue is applied completely. I'm guessing you're talking about an easy-to-transport inflatable. construct a pool ring

This kit helped me save $600 by repairing a 12" liner tear in my Intex pool
5/5

When the bottom of my Intex pool ripped open a 12 inch tear, I was skeptical that anything would work. When the 1" tear in the pool burst, it emptied in three minutes, leaving a four-foot sinkhole in the ground. In three minutes, the 1" tear had grown into a 12" gaping rip, and my daughter and husband had gone from floating on top of the water to laying on the pool's bottom. I was sure the pool was toast, but since we aren't in the market for a new one right now, I knew I had to do everything I could to save it. After reading the reviews on this patch kit, I decided to give it a try. While the bag was empty, I patched the inside and outside and folded it so that the tear was on the bottom rather than where the bottom meets the side, allowing the pressure to press down with the ground as a support. It worked! We've been holding for a week now! This kit is the only one I'll ever use.

For the hole in, I tried a number of different patch kits
5/5

I tried numerous other patch kits to repair the hole in my above-ground pool, but they all failed miserably. I tried four different products and was about to give up completely and close the pool in the middle of summer, when it was most needed. Instead, I drained the pool, cleaned the area around the hole on the very bottom (16ft round x 48in deep), dried the area, and applied this patch, letting it dry for over 24 hours before refilling it, and not a single drop has leaked out since!.

My pool store gave me a free piece of leftover pool liner that was the same color as mine and told me it would make a better patch
5/5

I taught my grandson, who is 18 years old, how to swim. Have a pool liner that is at least 20 years old. It developed a 1/2-inch slit at the bottom. Every three to four days, about a quarter inch of water is lost. After reading reviews and watching a YouTube video for instructions, I decided to purchase this for repair. The patch material that came with the kit was not used by me. br>br>My pool store gave me a free leftover piece of pool liner that was the same color as mine and said it would make a better patch. I enlisted the help of my 18-year-old grandson to swim down and repair the damage. I followed the directions and cut a four-inch circle, then used this glue to cover the slit. He swam down and placed an 8x8 inch paving brick on top of it, letting it sit for 24 hours before removing the brick and inspecting the patch. It has formed a strong bond with the surface. There will be no more loss of water. If it lasts a year or two, as some claim, I'll be happy because it'll be time to replace the liner because it's past the manufacturer's warranty. br>WARNING: THIS PAGE CONTAINS SENSITIVE CONTENT. Cut the patch three to four inches larger than the area to be repaired because it causes a chemical reaction and melts or welds into the original liner, making the originalbr>hole larger. Use a face mask for eye protection and try to keep glue away from hair (long haired grandson should have worn a shower cap). Some people complained about the glue being thin or watery, but we covered the entire patch with it and folded it like a taco, and it set up in one minute when it came into contact with water and the original vinyl liner. I'm very happy- The patch and edge outline in the pool bottom are barely visible.

Review of the application
3/5

This review will focus on how to apply these patches. Most holes can be filled with the patches. The clear patches are actually less difficult to work with than the blue patches. The adhesive is simple to use, but it dries quickly. Similar to PVC cement, the adhesive comes in a can with a stick and ball inside. Use your own applicator instead of the one provided. The cotton ball easily falls off the stick as it bends. It was easier to spread the glue on the patch with a Popsicle stick. I would have preferred to spread the glue thicker, but there was insufficient glue to do so. Do they function as intended? For a flat surface, I believe so; however, I am patching a seam. It will take time to see if it was successful, but I am skeptical.

It'll take a lot of trial and error to get it right
3/5

Pros:
- Clear patch, blue patch, and glue can with applicator are included as advertised. br>- br>- Shipped in good condition with no damage or crushbr>- It took a lot of trial and error, but it looks good after 24 hours - I doubled and overlayered it to keep it from falling apart too quickly during the season. br>br>Cons:
- This isn't a long-term solution, in my opinion. I have a backup kit in case it breachesbr>- Includes instructions, but they are at best rudimentary. br>- The patch is folded in the box and will need to be laid flat or smoothed out with a hair dryer before working with it. br>- The glue will IMMEDIATELY begin to crimp the patch once applied (if you use it for a large area as instructed to double the size of the rip/tear) making it extremely difficult/messy to handle. br>- Because the seller only includes two clear patches, you'll need to order another kit if you make a mistake. br>- Once the glue has been applied to the vinyl liner, it must be smoothed out quickly and the edges glued down, as the glue begins to cure almost immediately, making repositioning impossible and destructive to the liner. br>br>Advice:br>- Before you begin, watch a video on how to perform the repair online. br>- Put on a pair of disposable glovesbr>br>br>br>br>br>br>br Apply glue to your patch with a hard plastic or other clean, hard surface - To avoid contaminating the glue and patch, do not do it on grass, cement, or any other surface. br>- If at all possible, do the entire procedure/repair right where the tear in the vinyl liner is so your glue and patch don't become a screaming mess as you try to move from one location to another (patio/kitchen/etc. ). ) to the site of repairbr>- Underwater application is extremely difficult/impossible - If at all possible, drain some of the water from the tear and clean it. br>br>Best of luck - This is a job that necessitates a bit of trial and error in order to get it right - Save time and money by purchasing multiple kits.

This was money well spent
5/5

I really liked this product because it helped me save a lot of money. There was a slit in the middle that was about an inch wide. This product saved our new pool and hasn't shown any signs of failure after the entire swimming season, where our lawn mower had thrown something into the side of the pool. We tried another brand of repair that didn't work, and this product saved our new pool and hasn't shown any signs of failure after the entire swimming season.
