Questions & Answers

Based on the zoomed image, the mesh appears to be 3/4" in size. Is the mesh size actually 3/8"?

I believe it is 3/8" in diameter. You cannot get tougher than this. We don't have to worry about rot with this stuff.

Birds getting tangled is a concern to me. This net has a higher rigidity than regular garden netting, right?

It's hard to tell what regular garden netting looks like, but I use this type of netting for covering two ponds and beyond and I've never seen a bird get caught in or around either one.

What are the chances of unraveling this net without cutting it? It's too small for my pond, so I'm looking for a 14 x 14 mesh with a small opening to clear out live oak leaves. ?

Due to the fact that you did not specify what size you DO need, giving you a response is difficult! Your 28 x 28 net is obviously too big for your pond, just as my two 28 x 28 nets are too big for my pond, as I only need 1 whole net and half of the second There are no unraveling problems with this netting It unfolds, and it is folded in a very peculiar manner. In other words, you're going to have to unfold it to a full 28' x 28' size on your lawn and then cut it to the desired size (which is quite simple with a pair of Do not throw away the remainder that you will not be using (and you can order the remainder that you will Due to the fact that you did not describe the size of your pond, I cannot determine what you do need next year. I have years of experience in this field, and I am happy to help.

When it comes to mesh size, how large is it?

Hey there, *br> the mesh opening is 3/8 inch wide. Please accept my sincere thanks.

manage on its own, but we figured out how to deal with it
4/5

There was some mesh netting on our "pond" but because it is nestled under a big oak tree, a lot of stuff still managed to get in. In that regard, the smaller mesh with this worked better than the larger mesh, but we found that the increased number of filaments caused this to snag even more easily on the concrete block it was constructed If you fed or cleaned it, it was hard to handle. It was just that it was bigger and more complete and we addressed a lot of details. For the netting, we just cut it into a circle and inserted some polyethylene tubing (roughly 1/4" OD) around the perimeter. A little more than 2". After going around for quite a while, this became a little tedious, and it took us an hour to complete. There are massive differences between the two. Now, it is very easy to handle. There are still a few bricks holding the bricks together, especially in places where water flows through, but it's now much easier to open. While the process was tedious and time-consuming, it was worth it in the end.

Herons and raccoons are unable to eat my fish without it! The following information was updated on April 10, 2017 There is no downtime on this network! It hasn't missed a fish since it was Two raccoons visited my pond, but they weren't able to get through to the fish and the net is still intact
5/5

My wife also caught the Great Blue Heron sitting on our roof looking into the pond, it looked very confused. I guess he sees the net and is afraid to approach it! This post is based on what I wrote in my original post

So The last chance I have for a better future is here. All of my attempts have failed. My pond includes a scarecrow motion sprinkler, reflective mirrors, fishing line crisscrossing the pond, rock hiding structures at the bottom. If you can't see it, it's all there! Still, these darn Herons are getting away with my koi and goldfish. I've been providing great entertainment to my pond by myself up until now, but when the battery dies in it (and there's no way for me to know it's dead) then my pond becomes open for hunting. As the final piece in my solution to keep my koi safe, I hope this net will be just the thing. It looks like I've lost more than 30 fish over the past two years, as well as four koi I prized. The largest and last Koi I ever had was taken by a raccoon a few months ago. Even with the scarecrow in place, this hungry racoon did not cease to eat. It would be great if this net worked. My order arrived the next day. I was very happy with that! The packaging is nice. There are in fact small squares of vinyl/plastic mesh in the mesh. My pond can be cut easily around the edges of the wrap, as well as easily unwrapped for installation. It is hoped that it will be strong enough to hold back the beak of a heron but more testing will need to be done. The software was installed on my PC *6 It has an average height of 7" above the water line in my pond (I anchored it with camping stakes from Walmart for 50c There is almost no obscuring of the fish or view of the pond due to the net, we are very happy with this. The previously used fishing line looked awful but I had tried to use "clear" fishing line. As far as I can tell, this is a great I will update this review if I see that it has deterred birds or fails to do so. This is with the net in place, so it is impossible to see the net in the attached photo.

This is a very durable material

In winter, this would work great for an ice pond. In summer, it would work great for bird protection. These are great for protecting my blue berry bushes from birds. I bought them for my blue berry bushes and they are working great. In the past few years I bought it for my small fish pond, and so I knew it was strong and thick. My thinking was that it would survive for a month in my blueberries if it could survive the outdoors for the several months it may be exposed to during the time that blue herons tend to hide our pond. It will last for many years. I can flatten it and use it for many Despite the fact that the dark color netting really blends in with the surroundings, it is difficult to see. As a matter of fact, it's big enough for me to drape it over the whole blueberry enclosure and still have some left over. The netting and pvc were held together by a rock border that I used, as well as some string to anchor the netting. measures 10' long by 5' tall by 8' wide. (It cost.

Unfolding is a pain
3/5

The raccoons are deterred from entering my pond by covering it with this. It worked in a way. It wasn't the case for most. I have taken it off and tried it again, and this time it seems to be working better. It's possible that the raccoons passed on the last three fish after already eating five. To make sure the web is completely secure, make sure that you follow these tips It will fall apart if you drop a rock of one or two pounds Make sure it doesn't pull from the sides next time! A finch that got entangled in it the day after the first application was also killed by I dunno. Maybe if we just shot the damn raccoons instead we would be better off.

The cover over the pond is good
4/5

Approximately ten years ago, this net replaced a similar, but different net. In an outdoor setting, it did eventually get holes and tears from falling tree limbs and other debris, though it did not significantly deteriorate over that period. Being that I am not a fisherman, I found mending the net to be rather tedious, and it was evident to the casual viewer that my repairs were no good. We needed a net that covered a large area, as well as being fairly invisible, and the net would do the trick. Birds, frogs, cranes, other creatures, as well as leaves and debris are kept out of your yard with this fence. Normally, I leave a small gap at each end just in case a small bird gets inside. This way, it can escape if necessary.

It was a job well done
5/5

The koi pond in our backyard is quite large (600+ gallons). It is unfortunately also popular with a very large heron. It was hard to get him to leave. The Heron decoy is something we tried to buy. We gave him one of our $200 Koi for lunch since neither of them worked. Over the pond, we put this netting. In about 5 places around the perimeter, short pieces of rebar were buried in the ground, and larger pieces of rock were placed on the weir. I don't find it distracting visually. There are no holes through which fish food can pass. Besides catching the leaves, it is also very useful when it comes to collecting them.

The best way to keep leaves out of your pool for a very low cost
5/5

Huge is a better way to describe this. In spite of snagging on rocks and twigs, the netting seems well made and unlikely to tear. It is a very light net, but if staking or attaching it to a frame, it will stay in place. My solution was to construct a frame out of pvc piping and to zip tie the netting to it. In this manner, the whole thing can be easily taken apart and stored before the swimming season begins. Thanks to the pool net, leaves don't sink to the bottom of the pool and can be swept up easily. My netting is not even trimmed, however I have rolled it up and attached it to the pvc frame as opposed to trimming it. The product isn't very attractive, but it does the job. When compared with other more expensive options, this was a good option for less than a hundred dollars. It was quoted to us for several thousand dollars to cover our pool! were amazed how easy it was, and they copied my idea for their pools as well.
