This was an item I had to return. I couldn't put it in my pond because it was so stiff and non-flexible. My pond is uneven, with a deeper area in the center bottom and angular sides that are partially below ground and partially above ground. When attempting to install this liner, it would have ripped. If you have an oval or oblong pond, it might work, but if you have anything with an hourglass shape or angles, don't buy it. The pond's bottom should be flat, with no deeper areas in the middle or on the sides.
br>At first, I thought it was leaking because I had trimmed it incorrectly, so I bought liner seam tape to repair the trim, but it still leaked after a while, so I assumed it was water seepage under the liner. To prevent seepage, I created a prominent lip around the pond. It continued to leak, so I examined an area where I had been a little rough during installation and discovered a few weak spots, which I patched. Even so, it got out. Following up on my investigation, I discovered that there are leaking pinholes all over the place. Under big rocks and anything sharp, I used underlayment and scraps. . . the liner should not have any holes! It's too late to return, but I'll have to pay for this cheap thing, an epdm liner, liner seam tape, and various glues in addition to the time I'll have spent installing the entire pond, untold hours trying to diagnose and repair the leak, then removing everything 3 months later to put in a new liner.
The plastic is perfect for what I'm doing with it, but it's a 20' x 13' rectangle that's 4 inches too short in each direction. I've ordered three of them, and they all seem to be having the same problem, so it's not a one-off. I really like the item, but the dimensions are clearly skewed. Writing 12 foot eight isn't difficult, and it should be accurate.
For some reason, I had the impression that this was more Mil than it stated. However, I had a 14 mil for 5 years, so I figure another 5 years with a 15 mil will suffice. It was a good size, but it was a little stiff. It smelled awful and I was afraid I'd kill my fish, but I didn't. Overall, it accomplishes the task at hand.
This pond liner is exceptionally thick, making it ideal for use in ponds. However, it's terrible unless you're making an oval pond. Folding, fitting, and molding are all extremely difficult tasks. It doesn't bend well no matter what you do. I had a lot of trouble installing it, and it doesn't look very nice because my pond has shelves for plants, so there are a lot of folds.
I'm hoping it sticks around. The material isn't very malleable, so I'm giving it a four. The material creates a harsh crease as it folds, and I'm afraid it won't hold up and will tear through the crease. While laying out the fabric, we discovered small pin holes and slits. I was able to get away with it because I bought a larger size than I required. I'm hoping it will stick around for a while. For the time being, it is sufficient.
For the price, this liner is adequate, but not exceptional. It has a cheap feel to it, which is difficult to explain, but it has a plastic-like feel to it rather than rubber. My fish pond, on the other hand, was able to be restored. I don't expect it to last as long as the old one, but that's acceptable given the price.
oh yes- I'm required to pay the city an amount of $800. 00 water bill, and I haven't even found all the holes!.
