Everything is held in place by this tape. I've used it on wood, glass, and packages, but I recommend getting the holder/cutter because it makes working with the tape a lot easier. I had some on a broken window for five years and it's still holding up no matter what the weather is like.
Lowe's has the exact product, and it costs $8. At the time of writing, it was 98 cents, or approximately $1. Amazon is 40 dollars cheaper.

I purchased Gorilla Tape from a variety of sources, including Home Depot, and they were all difficult to remove and noisy, indicating that the silicone backing was missing. It is thicker and wider than other packaging tapes, and it still adheres well. When I called the Gorilla Glue Company to ask if it was a bad batch or if the company had stopped using the silicone backing to save money, the representative said they had no idea where the tape was made and if they did, they couldn't tell me? "I'll let the R handle it," she said, aggressively defensive. "The Department of D is aware. " I bought a cheap replacement tape at Rite Aid for a fraction of the price, and it dispenses quietly and smoothly, but it's not the same quality. When the Gorilla Glue Company resolves the issue, I will be overjoyed. After that, I'll revise my review.
The biggest problem I had with other tape was that it would split when you tried to peel it off the roll, wasting several inches of tape each time, or it would stick to itself, wasting time and effort again. I tried the Gorilla Packing Tape and was blown away by how much better it is. It's thicker, which solves a lot of my problems, and the glue is superior. I've now boxed over 138 boxes and will never use anything but Gorilla Tape again.
It's a lot wider and a lot stronger than standard shipping tape. I'm confident that it will hold with just one seal along the bottom of the box. It was described as "easy to apply" in reviews, but I found it difficult due to my lack of experience. I've got a lot of boxes to fill and haven't done anything like this before. I would buy this again if I needed it because the part where it says "twist to cut" is simple and effective.
Our belongings had been packed. I was blown away by how well the boxes had been taped. Good to be stuck on! Perhaps 20 days after the day of our home's closing. We got down to business and began relocating boxes. . . . The tape was not connected to the box in each and every one of them. It was as if I was not a part of it at all. I smoothed the box out again, and it stayed in place for the most part. However, we had to be cautious and hold the boxes in the correct position. So yes, it does have a good grip at first! I'm not sure when it fell apart, but it must have happened during those 20 days. The house was also full of boxes.
Because the tape catches on the wheel, I had to remove the "feature" of the wheel on the dispenser. The tape is extremely durable and performs admirably. But it's stinky as hell, so put on a mask or two. I'm glad it's powerful; it's just that there's a lot of glue odor as a trade-off.

I don't usually write reviews, and I never expected to write one about package tape, but I'm so impressed that I'm typing this now. Gorilla has a knack for reinventing the basics, as evidenced by their use of packaging tape. The tape is thick and wide, and it only takes one strip to seal the box. They re-use packaging tape in the process of making the best, but not the cheapest, packaging tape. Make the tape dispenser a reality. The dispenser is made of a heavy but flexible plastic and has a smooth rolling roller beneath the cutting teeth. When you're taping up a package, you can press down hard and the roller will ensure that the tape sticks and that the teeth are sharp enough to cut the tape quickly and cleanly. They also sell tape refills, saving you from throwing away a perfectly good piece of plastic. I'm completely addicted to this game.
This tape is the most amazing thing that has ever been invented. It glides off the roll with little effort, and it does so evenly, without getting stuck to itself. Like a gorilla, it clings to the surface tightly and firmly. That thing isn't going to let go any time soon. You can be confident that it will hold up to whatever you throw at it. It won't fall apart, and the retainer prevents the tape from falling back onto itself once you've cut it with the attached cutter. I've never owned a high-quality tape that has been inflicted with suffering. It's perfect for wrapping Christmas presents and other household items.
